I just love it! I had been coming for 3 months for Prenatal Yoga Classes, just until my delivery. Amazing support, exercises, stretches, and relaxation. It helped me a lot with giving birth.
A little later I came back with my baby for the Infant Yoga Classes and Mini & Me Classes. It feels so great to stretch and gently strengthen my new mom's body, while having fun and bonding with the baby. I love the relaxed and supportive atmosphere of these classes, no judging or angry looks when babies cry.
Bonus points: Infant Yoga allowed me to practice leaving the house with my new baby on time and to learn exercises that I can do with her at home.

I found Discover Yoga a few years ago when I was looking for a gentle yoga studio that also allowed for discussion of spiritual growth in addition to asana practice. Alison and her studio have been there for me along my journey toward a deepening yoga practice. The studio has been an important catalyst in my life; It is very comforting to have found a community of yogis that are loving, accepting and kind.

I sometimes hear from people that they are intimidated to go to a yoga class at a yoga studio, sometimes because they feel inflexible or not educated in the way of yoga. No one need fear the gentle people found at Discover Yoga. This is one of the most welcoming environments I have had the pleasure to find myself in and I encourage anyone, regardless of current flexibility or knowledge, to come to the studio.

The style of yoga that is predominately practiced at the studio, viniyoga, is a very gentle yoga that allows for every kind of body to approach a yoga practice starting today, right where you are now. There are so many variations and modifications that can be made to make the pose more comfortable, and all of the instructors I have met through the studio are knowledgeable, patient, and good at communicating to individuals about their practice and helping to select postures or modifications that suit each individual.

Since beginning at Discover Yoga, I have found more flexibility, as well as stress-reduction, fuller breathing, better posture, more focus, greater body awareness, increased health and vitality, and a community of people who are holding a space of love for one another to feel safe and grow.

I regularly attend a Level 2 class here at Discover Yoga (full disclosure: I also teach at this studio, but not this class). The teacher, Kim, has a deep knowledge of asana, anatomy, and movement. In fact, she teaches the asana portion of the studio's teacher training program. Her classes are relaxed, yet challenging. She begins gradually, takes the class through a thorough warmup, until we can safely work on the challenges for the evening (in three years, I've never had an injury from this class). She often has a theme for the class but also skillfully weaves in requests from the students. The peak poses typically involve long holds as we work on strength, balance, and/or flexibility. Kim herself has a warm and easy-going personality, and encourages learning and exploration.

Loved it! I have been looking for a gentle yoga class forever. The 9:30 am class with Alison (owner) is just what the dr. ordered. The class sits in a circle and checks in with a one word answer to what do you want to work on today. Alison addresses each person by their first name around the circle. This bonds the class and helps people connect vs. just coming and going to a class. The class also does a check out, going around the room, addressed by first name, and says in a word how they feel. It again, connects the class - which is spiritually healing. The warmth of the room is just right. Not to hot - not too cold - just right. What I really like, is that everyone has access to a blanket they can use for their knees, as a pillow, or to put over them during the end meditation. Yeah! I need all three reasons! We used tennis balls for foot massage, straps for stretching, blocks and pillows were available AND lavendar eye bags - to again make the end meditation even more delightful. The yoga moves were just right. Slow and sure - I'm a beginner, and always got frustrated in the other classes that were "all levels" as I couldn't keep up, and didn't like feeling like an idiot (LOL). At this class, I fit right in and can grow into more advance yoga later - or maybe just stay in this wonderful class forever! Great location, right downtown Redmond by Soul Food books and the Samammish River Trail. Can relax in the book shop/coffee shop or go for a walk after my yoga. They offer a two week pass for only $30 - great way to try it out! Namaste :)

I highly recommend the prenatal class at Discover Yoga. All throughout my pregnancy I made it a priority to stay as active as possible; prenatal yoga eventually became part of my exercise routine. It actually became my favorite part of the week. I mainly attended the saturday morning class instructed by Tracy. Tracy is an amazing teacher and is a natural at calming and also empowering the pregnant women she instructs. I gave birth drug-free at home earlier this week and I definitely associate my time in the class with helping me find my breath and my center during the hardest times of my labor. So thankful I took the class.
