I used to bring my son here for swimming lessons when he was young (he's 27 years old and all grown up). I appreciate the YMCA and their great staff.
The Lakewood Family YMCA is a great place for people of all ages.

Love this YMCA!! The staff are so friendly, and helpful. We love the gymnastics class our daughter (almost 2) takes here. Originally came just for my daughter to sign up to be able to take gymnastics and swimming classes, but we knew immediately that this place would be fun for the whole family. Happy that they have a room as well for kids to play in safely while parents work out in the same room next to the kids area. Or like the idea of being able to take my daughter to child watch and be watched while we get to work out. Definitely recommend this YMCA for the whole family!
An outstanding place for the whole family to get some good exercise. Very kid friendly and the staff are so kind and wonderful. The pools are great, but they are so busy with classes so it's best to pick the right time if you want to swim. The free weights area is only open to children who are 15 years or older, but younger children can take a 1-hour orientation class to gain access to the weight machines and cardio equipment. A good place for the family. I am not a big fan of how high the price is for the membership. They have great sports programs for the younger kids. My daughter did 2 season of basketball and had a great time playing.
Great YMCA. I've been to a few others,but the staff here is really helpful and nice. It's clean and not too crowded usually. The cafe is nice to have. Great programs for all ages.
My child LOVES this location. We live closer to Morgan but he asks to go to Summer Camp at Lakewood every year! For this reason we make the drive and are never disappointed with all of the fun themes they have like soccer, minecraft, space explorers, jr. detectives and more!
We absolutely love it here, good weight room and even better child care! The employees are all so sweet and very helpful. They all make the attempt to know the members and say hi. The daycare workers are amazing with my kid who had never been in daycare. So glad to have such an amazing place to bring my family!
My daughter had camp here and there were super nice! It was easy and I definitely recommend the camp it was a lot of fun for my daughter:)
This place is awesome. They offer so much stuff with their membership. They have an outdoor small playground with wood chips. Anyone can go to it. SAFE place for children and adults to gather. The have a youth gym and a main gymnasium for basketball. They have weights, work out machines, raquetball rooms, swimming pool, spa, showers, lockers, cafeteria that sells coffee, snacks, and other blended fruit iced beverages. Inside their main gym they have an upstairs walking track. (The railing surrounding the track is not very tall, i DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING SMALL CHILDREN UNDER 10 upstairs.) They have friendly staff. They offer many different classes that kids and adults can take. I loved this place but I had to stop going because it was becoming unsafe for my children and myself to walk there. (The walk to the location brought me past homeless people and people on drug), driving is no issue if you have a vehicle to pass by all that.

My whole family has a lot of fun almost every day of the week. The classes are great and they have a really good variety compared to other YMCAs we've been to. I also really love the family work out room do I can take my kids in with me.

This is a nice place. We are not members but the coaches gather the kids to get some extra practice. For a drop in fee of $5 it is worth it. Great faculty and friendly staff. My kids (1 and 3) just started swim lessons and so far I have no complaints. Just wish we would have joined sooner.

Nice they moved greeting desk forward. Always inefficient with easy access to making cleaning equipment effective. This is why I use other facilities.
We are new members so we have only done one family fun activity and other than going to work out a couple of times I have only been able to get my daughter into the beginning gymnastics class and which has only had 2 classes but so far they have been great and my daughter absolutely loves it!! They have a good verity of exercise equipment for beginners like me on up and really nice staff ready and happy to help!!!

Pretty awesome place. It does have a super strong chlorine smell.. like it's pungent. Pretty nice place other wise. My daughter plays soccer here and the coaches are awesome!!!

My second home..however some people are gross . They don't wipe down the machines after use . The staff are wonderful friendly and very helpful.

Great place for kids to get involved and start to learn. They have so many classes and activities for the whole family.

Everyone here is so wonderful and helpful. They've redone so much inside, it looks amazing. I've dropped my baby off in the child care a couple times and she's always well taken care of. It's a very open space so everything is easily accessible!! I love this ymca.

Good gym with a pool and full workout center. Rates are higher than the other local for profit gyms, but for the price I have been very happy with the support over the past few years. They just updated their lobby and membership provides access to all of the other local YMCA centers in the South Puget sound.

Great place for families and kids. Tons of free classes with membership, huge facility with daycare.
Love the ymca but i would rate it higher but it's so hot inside. They need working air conditioning badly. Makes it hard to work out it's so hot. Other than that I love it!
The facility is very nice. The experience would be improved if the staff would enforce the rules, specifically pertaining to children.

One of the older YMCA's but they are making upgrades. Overall, I have a great experience each visit.

Excellent facilities, but as a non-for profit, I would expect the fees to be a bit more reasonable...

Nice Y that continues to improve the facility. Great/friendly staff! Shout out to Dave, Krysta, Ashleigh (preschool pumpkin parades is such a fun event), Steven, Leslie, Sarah (great water aerobics classes), Yasuko, Bella, Emma, and Anne. They are all so Great! The staff make the place Great!
Excellent facility with plenty of parking. My only complaint is that this location does not stay open late like the Mel Korum location. Very friendly staff!
great for old people or the disabled. Horrible for adults. Classes are always packed and MOST of the facilities are occupied by these classes. Very small windows for swimming and the sauna is WAAY to small considering how many people pack in there. Last three days there have been no hot water and it seem like this is a reoccuring problem. Only reason I even pay what I do and btw is very overprice is because there is no other gym that offers kids stuff.
Tired of staff not watching kids when they take them outside to the park and water park and the kids steal my kids food and drinks and all staff has to say is well that's too bad
Unfortunately the only "family" gym I know. (1)There's so many adult classes the kids and I are not able to go to certain rooms during the time that we are able to (usually morning and late afternoon) even and especially in the summer. (2) unless you sign up for a class (usually have to pay for something worthy) and you are with your kids consider yourself exempt. (3) there is an age gap between nursery and when children are allowed to roam free and even with close supervision at 7, and behaved, are they not allowed on the top room (although they have many times before) so there are "rule" and staff inconsistencies. (4) many times have paid extra for sport classes only to find out the coaches are not well trained or serious about what they are doing. This is considered (as the manager said) "more thorough with skills". I was then recommended to do classes that come with our membership that don't have additional fees when I complained about how poorly the service we pay for is...but if we pay $50 extra for each child for a class what exactly would "free" look like? Does FREE JUSTIFY crap service? This is not a "family" Y. I feel this is more geared towards the elderly, which is great obviously, but don't ever say family! I have felt x'd out in a sense, beings I see children younger than my kids age being unsupervised especially upstairs, where my children are well behaved and always told to leave the area. If I can find a different REAL FAMILY oriented gym I am switching.
Great staff, even better child care geat classes for all ages, great lap pool and hot tub theres everything you want in a gym is here love this place
