I have taken lots of yoga at a lot of places in Seattle and the Eastside. I find that I really appreciate what the teachers at Alive and Shine Center are doing. They teach "regular" yoga - but it's really nothing but exceptional. By regular, I mean, they aren't doing any weird jumping, leaping, undulating - it's just straight, clear and CLEAN yoga. They say on their website that it is for real people (true - I see all shapes and sizes, not just skinny yoga bodies in class) for real life (true - they teach me how to feel good in my daily life, not just trying to sweat it out and pump hard in yoga class) and that it is real yoga. Too much in the west is getting mixed with aerobics, heat, dance, acro, etc. that you lose the original integrity of these profound exercises. But not here - it's as good as it gets.
