You would get 5 stars if you opened daily at 630am & not just 2 days a week. The pool is hogged by 2 swim teams all afternoon & in the evening until closing. In the summer you only keep 3 lanes open & in the fall & spring you dont keep the pool & locker rooms at the correct temperature. I would change my rating the second these things are fixed. A clear example of progress would be to have notified us be mail or email & offer us a discounted yearly rate. Other pools keep all lanes open during the winter, spring, and fall. They also seem to keep the pool warm & the lockerroom at a warm enough temperature to prevent cramping. Obviously you should be open early enough daily that anyonecan swim, or work out before work. Opening at at 830am is just silly.
This is a really great place to workout. While it is small in size, there is adequate equipment for a complete workout (you just need to learn how to use it). The people and staff here make it an enjoyable part of the day.
This is the smallest (by far) of all the VB rec centers. While that makes for a very close, friendly environment, it is still very small. Recent "innovations" by administrators have probably created more size related problems. Until recently use of cardio equipment was by sign-up. This is simply because there is only ONE or at most TWO pieces of each type of cardio equipment. At other rec centers there are rows of equipment. This change was done to "standardize policies", which seems to make as much sense as having a 16 month old and a 16 year old wear the same clothes because they're both 16. So far there has only been one day when I waited an hour, unsuccessfully, trying to do cardio. I fear that with the usual January rush (New Year's resolutions), and when other centers are closed the situation will be more of a regular occurance. When that happens I will change to the Hilltop Y. I wish more people would remember, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it".
Management at this Rec center is unprofessional, disrespectful, and rude; Amanda specifically. I highly recommend going to other places within Hampton roads whom have a far better staff and facility!

I just love this gym, it gives you a good starter for work out. a clean environment will help you focus. two thumbs up for this well maintained place and to its management for the daily effort.

We had a kids birthday party today at Seatack Reccenter. It was a great experience! Everyone was really kind, friendly, helpful and generous! The climbing wall party was amazing, well organized and very professionell! The pizza got delivered hot, plenty of drinks and a relaxed athmosphere!
Can highly recommend this facility!

This is my second review for the Seatack Recreation Center. Of all the recreation centers within our City of Virginia Beach, I prefer to exercise and swim at the Seatack Center. Why? Because I have found that the staff consistently go out of their way to assisted their patrons and the center is clean. I am a lap swimmer and this is where prefer to swim!

Seatack Recreation Center is truly awesome. From the staff to the citizens who utilize this community it is a good experience. I actually live closer to one of the larger recreation centers however I prefer to swim at Seatack.
Worst rec center I've been to. Their "gym" is the size of a home gym. You're apparently supposed to sign out the treadmills at the front desk... I was only in the gym, because I was waiting on the rock wall to open. I live near town center, so first thing in the morning, I called Seatack to make sure the wall would be open all day. They said YES very clearly. I get there, it's closed because a class is going on. I showed up when the front desk said it would be open, still wasn't open. Waiting around for about 40 minutes, it never opened. I was shocked at the level of complete lack of knowledge displayed by the women at the front desk. They wasted about an hour of my time today.
