I have been attending Muay Thai lessons at Eastern Academy of Mixed Martial Arts for about 3 months now and I couldn't be happier with the results. I come from the background of having no prior physical experience at all and by taking these classes I have improved my mood and confidence, while learning the best self defense classes this city has to offer. Wahsei is the most ideal instructor because of his patience, dedication, respect and knowledge he shows and teaches his students. I will continue to take his classes as long as time allows!
Hi everyone! This Academy is a professional. It is one of the best club I have ever seen. The Instructor is more than professional. He can be a real friendly man and a traditional instructor at the same time. The training is fantastic and the teammates are very friendly. I would like to recommend it to all people of all ages who wants to be a member of this friendly team also.

This place is far greater then any Jeet Kune Do school I could have ever imagined. As soon as I walked it this place I didn't have to go to look at any other school (that is rare).
They truly teach the art and concepts of Jeet Kune Do the way Bruce Lee wanted. The instructors train and certify right from Dan Inasanto which was Bruce Lee's best student and the one person Bruce Lee's son (Brandon Lee) chose to train with to learn what his father had taught.
Their methods of teaching are very effective and the there is a high level of discipline and respect ingrained in everyone. We even got to practice sparing on my second class to help bring everything we had learned so far together.
I have read every book on Bruce Lee and have a pretty good understanding of his ideas and beliefs in what he taught and this place, in my opinion, is the next best thing to training directly from Bruce Lee himself. I signed myself and my son up the same day I went there the first time.
I am and will be forever grateful to Wahsei for teaching me and my son. Thank you.

This is an OUTSTANDING martial arts school!!! Mr. Miran and his instructors really take the time getting to know each student and build them up physically and mentally. Mr. Miran gives life lessons at the end of the class, tying martial arts into the betterment of his students' overall lives. I truly respect these instructors and am so glad that I chose this martial arts school. This school offers a wide range of martial arts and various class times. I would highly recommend this school!!!

Eastern Academy is an outstanding MMA gym with top-notch instruction! The owner and main instructor is a highly talented mixed martial artist with nearly 30 years of experience. He has earned instructorship level in multiple martial arts under some of the top names in each discipline. I have been training on and off in martial arts for many years. Prior to starting at any school, I do lots of research and seek out the best schools wherever I live. Eastern Academy is definitely one of the best. The school itself is large, has tons of training equipment, is well-maintained, and very clean. The atmosphere is great! Everyone is highly professional and friendly where all students no matter what rank help each other to Increase their skills. I signed my daughter up and she loves it as well. I knew what I was looking for while searching for a new gym: knowledge, respect, intensity, and humility. Just from my first conversation with Kru Wahsei, I could tell this was going to be my new gym. There isn't a class where something new isn't learnt, the atmosphere is calm with energy, the equipment necessary is there and it's clean.
I joined the gym's Muay Thai program and later joined the Jiu-Jitsu program too. Every class is a good mix of men and women with different levels of experience and everyone is welcomed. It's a great place to start without experience and a great place to further your knowledge and training even if you've been training for years.
I have been training jiu-jitsu for 10 years in various places around the United States and I have yet to find someone whose knowledge of self-defense and jiu-jitsu has surpassed his.
That is not a disparaging comment against other schools, but a testament to the dedication that Wahsei has to the martial arts and all the people who also want to know martial arts. That passion is especially shown to each of his students, no matter the discipline.
If you are looking for a fantastic introduction to the martial arts or a place to improve your existing skills, Eastern Academy of Mixed Martial Arts is a place that can and will provide both. I am very thankful that I found this place.
Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I would like to leave a review of the best of the best mixed martial arts in Hampton Roads! My son started to go there in summer 2017 when he was 4 years old. He has been so happy and looking forward to going there. Also, he has improved his skills about English because his first language is Russian, how to be more patient, respect and listen all adults, grateful and to protect himself. My son and I love the atmosphere over there. Mr. Wahsei is a very knowledgeable and professional. All kids love, respect and thankful him. Also, children always so happy every day when they come for there trainings ;) Thanks a lot for everything!!! We all appreciate Mr. Wahsei and Krantani for such a wonderful classes! ;)

Excellent instruction and welcoming atmosphere. Stopped in for a private lesson while I was in town and will definitely be back. Highly recommend if you live in the Virginia Beach area or just stopping through.
