Extremely convenient location for anyone living in the bottom. Has all of the essentials, no frills. There are no Hammer Strength machines here, if that's what you're into. Good, lowkey atmosphere, no distractions or people standing around socializing and taking up space like at other, larger gyms.
Frist time. Was great
I have nothing but great things to say about Cassi and the starting strength program. She is excellent and eased my gym fear from the first moment. She also surprised me with what I could do! She encourages the best from you but never pushes you too far, just enough! All the staff has always been super friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere, great people, great workout!

Richmond Balance is fabulous! I moved to Shockoe Bottom so I could be near a great gym (no lie) and Hunter and Cassi have not disappointed. Great community and great facility, especially if you like working with barbells.

Hunter and Cassi have done an excellent job of creating a community that is inclusive and exciting. It is great getting to know other women in the area during the female lifting sessions. The coaches will also push you to do something you've never done every day. I have really seen a change in myself since I started lifting with Cassi! Keep up the good work !

Joining a strength training group at Richmond Balance is one of the best decisions I've ever made. This is a great gym with great coaches and the equipment you need to get stronger.
Over the years, I've belonged to big gyms and small, national chains and specialty places. I even worked at a gym part-time for a number of years. I've been extremely happy with Richmond Balance since I joined about a year ago. It's super convenient for anyone living or working downtown, Shockoe, or Church Hill. There's 24-7 card access for members, a strong selection of free weights and racks, weight machines, cardio equipment, and rowing machines! They offer select group exercise classes and personal training. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful, and very experienced. They take pride in their work and in the facility. Richmond Balance is the kind of place where you can get in and out and do your workout quickly without interacting with others...or chat with a few of the folks working out with you. Bonus points for once a month group socials.

These people are so rude to the main street realty tenants even though its probably the only way richmond balance would stay in business due to main street realty paying them a mass amount of money so the tenants have free use of this gym within the rent. They threw away things I had in a locker for no reason and would not answer back on why that happened (my note was found in the trash just like my belongings were??) The owners and trainers are pretty much never there either!! They make you do your own paperwork at the desk when you come in also. Super overpriced to the outsiders. This place has one pro, convenience.
