I hope I'm leaving this review for the correct coach. Mike (coach Michael) saw my children and our neighbors children hitting old tennis balls around at Mary Mumford with even older rackets. Fifteen minutes later he returned with a case of new tennis balls and three newer rackets. He never asked for a thank you or expected anything in return. He just wanted the kids to enjoy playing with newer equipment.
I'm not a review parent but this incredible act of generosity just warmed my heart and I wanted to thank him personally but have yet to have that chance. Thank you Michael for making my kids year.
The most passionate and caring coach! (That is hard to come by these days) and avid tennis player! He really cares about each athlete as an individual and knows whats best for them in their tennis career and how to attack that. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Tennisrva is nothing like the clubs our family has gone to before. Thankfully his coaching style mixed with his humor is a perfect fit. We thought we knew about tennis before meeting this Coach. We felt foolish at first because we actually were not taught the details. My daughter loves her lessons and her playing level is rapidly becoming more impressive.

Mr. DeZaine is an awesome coach and cultivator of potential. His investment in his profession and his pupils is evident from day one as he makes an early assessment and identifies long and short-term goals. His attention to not only the form and focus of his pupils, but also the understanding of their demands off the court allows him to obtain the best out of his clients... He has a great eye for small nuances in the swing, footwork or any aspect of the game which also helps with achieving the best out of his players.

We have tried 5 different clubs around the area and most of the coaches who were recommended to us but found their instructions to be amateur at best.

I am very appreciative of Michael's dedication to tennis and the encouragement that he provides each week for my son. He appears to truly care about his clients and takes the time to speak to us in detail about my son's lessons. My 8 year old recently started lessons at TennisRVA and is excited to go back each week. I highly recommend Tennis RVA to any individual who is interested in learning the sport.
I give tennisrva a rating only 5 stars because Michael is extremely patient and fun to be around as a coach. He isn't always nice but will yell if he thinks I'm not focusing. He always has incredible advice for me on the court and great advice for the mental side of tennis. My dad and I have gone through a few coaches looking for someone with advanced tennis knowledge and who is both understanding and experienced. I would highly recommend Mr. DeZaine and tennisrva to everyone looking for a private coach.

Coach Michael helped my daughter improve her tennis skills and knowledge of the game. She enjoys all her practices.

I have played tennis for three years for my school, but I never had my own professional coach until a year ago. With Michael coaching me I have improved greatly. Two years ago I was not in the starting lineup for any of my schools tennis matches, but last year (when Michael started coaching me) I played almost every single match. This school year I am aiming to be number one, and the possibility is very likely. I could have never asked for a better tennis coach. Micheal pushes me to be the best I can be, and he never gives up on me when I am having a hard time learning something. Under coach Mr. Dezaine my skill level skyrocketed to number 1 in my high school in under six months. My parents and I have tried multiple coaches from all the biggest tennis clubs and we just couldn't find a coach who could explain the more complex skills in a easy way to understand in the way he could. Mr. Dezaine knows how to make a good player great. His reputation for producing top ranking and nationally ranked juniors was clear after only a few lessons. I would highly recommend him to all players looking to play beyond high school and in tournaments.
