Thanks VASA sugar house for providing a clean, safe gym. The front desk staff are the best! #friendly #helpful #professional

Brian and the staff at Brickyard are always friendly and professional. Extremely clean gym. I also had issues with the new app download, but Brian took the time to walk me through it. No problems whatsoever.

Staff is cordial and not in your face about your experience. They have some good equipment but it is not as big as other locations. This one happens to be the most convenient one for me. They have a ton of treadmills and free weights. Don't got at 5pm because it will be crowded and challenging to get the right equipment.

Other locations have a pool, cardio studio, basketball gym, steam room and other amenities but this location does not.

I went today with their offer to come for.a trial session. My intent was to sign up as it is very close to a new home I just purchased down the street. It would have been a great location, but I left thinking I would probably sign up with Planet Fitness instead. The reasons why include:
- Poor Air Circulation made it too warm for a comfortable work out and also just felt stuffy. It was hard to get a breath of fresh air until leaving the building.
- A lot of the old gym smells mixed with a lot of cologne.
- Equipment is pretty outdated and worn out. TVs were also outdated and hard to watch.
- pretty overly crowded and cleaning is suspect
- Poor lighting and just time for a remodel.

The latino manager is a nice person. Love Precor machines. Open stride precor my favorite. I love ABC World News and they have ABC 4 at Brickyard

The tanning beds are always VERY unclean & the staff here has harassed me. I reported it to corporate and they turned it around on me & gave me a warning saying I was disrespectful even though I have an audio recording I am willing to share with anyone for the prejudice I received. I would advise going to another gym entirely as they are very misleading when they sign you up. As a veteran I take the lies and disrespect seriously. If you are searching for a positive place free of drama to reach fitness goals and/or let off steam, this isn't it.
They like to justify actions by adding to reviews. They have things to cover up & want the public to view them better than current members. I have contacted people on here who have left reviews about their responses & how untrue they were. You have no protection here. You can be harassed/violated/mistreated & they always take the staff over the member & calling corporate is a joke.

Clean, good equipment, friendly and helpful staff. I am disappointed that not every station has its own barbell and often there are missing weight clips. The members should not have to look around for spares or have to move barbells from a bench press to use at the deadlift platform (for example). The club needs to maintain a better stock of equipment inventory.

Closed this MONTH TO MONTH membership well over two years ago and they continued to charge my card for many months and then JUST NOW sent collections after me. No letters, No calls, No emails. They will do the same to YOU! Tried to solicit help from corporate- Absolutely worthless and a wast of time. Great business policy to ATTACK peoples credit even though memberships are month to month. If $258 bucks for services never used is that important to you its worth it to me to leave this review. Vasa obviously doesn't understand that when someone has a positive experience they tell 5 people. but when that same person has a negative experience they tell 500! Hope its worth it.

I have been 5 different locations and I like this one the best. It is always organized and people rack their weights. I highly recommend this location.

As a member for 4 years, I gained a few things but overall am dissatisfied with the corporate red tape and neglect. It's a great gym for selling you cardio workouts, which you can get online for free. The Ogden location has had drinking fountains out of order for over a year. There are bicycles with squeaky and broken pedals. Several locations have not put up temporary signs on their bathrooms, which perpetuates an inhospitable, "locals only" attitude, which is not attractive to me nor my friends who attend.

Last summer, at least 3 locations had pool closures, which were not communicated to members. After calling 3 locations, I called corporate to request that they tell me which pools were open, and they said that all the pools were open.

When I first joined, I participated in training for 2 years, getting me back into shape and becoming friends with my trainer. I referred 3 friends to the gym, and when I wanted to cancel my membership, they claimed that I had to wait almost 2 months - and pay for those 2 months - for my membership to actually cancel because the contract states that I have to pay for an additional month of membership. A representative at the Sandy location suggested that I call corporate to ask that the policy waived. Corporate said that they don't do that.

I haven't actually used this gym but I went there to get info. I'm not a person who uses gyms but I got injured and I need to rehab. At this point I can only use a recumbent stationary cycle. I tried a couple at other gyms and they were uncomfortable to use. I wanted to find a better machine and asked Vasa Brickyard if I could try out one of their cycles for an hour to see how I liked their machine. He said I could for $15 or I could sign up for a membership for $10. I told him I would only need the membership for 1 or 2 months. Could I cancel then? He said sure but I would be charged 1/2 of the annual membership fee which would be about $25. So I could try a machine for $15 or $35. I decided to decline. He made me feel like I was in a sales meeting for a timeshare condo in Mexico. It wasn't very friendly. I went to Planet Fitness Millcreek. I had a completely opposite experience. Tried a recumbent cycle for 2 hrs for free and then signed up the next day at Planet Fitness.

What has plenty of barbell stations but no barbells? This gym! Yesterday morning I counted 6 stations that did not have barbells (2 flat benches, 1 incline bench, 2 military press stations, 1 bent over row station). The lack of barbells makes for more overcrowding and inconvenient exercising in an already small, overcrowded gym. It also makes for awkward hoarding of barbells as you literally have to carry a barbell with you from station to station on chest day (if you are lucky enough to get one of the few barbells in the first place). The management should not be cheap but actually purchase enough barbells to match the equipment. What is a gym without barbells? (Answer: Planet Fitness...also Brickyard VASA).

Second gripe, management recently shrunk this small gym further by cutting out a "personal training only" area upstairs. The excuse given to me by a personal trainer was that the people receiving training pay more money than me. True, but when I signed up the space and gym that were sold to me included the entire upstairs. Reducing the space that I contracted upon seems like a breach of contract. Can I now reduce the amount I'm paying based on the reduced area I'm allowed to use? I certainly wouldn't expect my landlord to tell me I can no longer use the kitchen because my roommate has agreed to pay more than me. Same with this gym. The other given excuse was that people didn't use that area anyway because VASA refused to put good equipment there and allowed the old cable machine in that location to break down. First, not true, I used it for various exercises. Second, admitting you neglected your equipment and general members is not a good approach. The best solution here would be to give priority of the training area to personal trainers but allow general members to use this area when not otherwise in use.

Positives: I find the staff very friendly and helpful. The personal trainers are nice and considerate of others working out (other than giving illogical excuses for why the gym shrunk). The equipment is generally in new or good condition and the place is clean. There is a wide variety of equipment and exercise options. They've done a good and efficient job in the cardio area by fitting in as many machines as possible while maintaining comfort. The customer service has been great to work with on my membership changes. I appreciate the various membership options. True this location is small and gets crowded, but other VASA locations are relatively close if you need more space. Overall I really like coming here I just wish they would address the two problems discussed above.

I was already a little skeptical about going to this location. I have heard from numerous people that this location is small, it's unsanitary, and the employees are extremely rude. After my experience today, I would definitely say the same. The gentleman who attempted to check myself in today was short and rude. As if he didn't want to help me. I will definitely not be going to this location again. Do not go to this location. After my experience today, I'm even wondering if I even want to join Vasa at all.

Super nice facility. Super clean. Fantastic staff and management. Machines were well maintained and felt great!

Great location with a lot of parking.
Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always helpful.
They keep the place clean!
They have some great deals! They knocked 100 dollars off group training--Kyle Folsom and the head coach Hunter are awesome!
It is a smaller location, but even during peak hours I can find free weights, space, and machines to use.
Great place to get motivated for fitness!

This is, by far, one of the best gyms ever and I thoroughly would recommend this so everyone in the area. Great community with solid equipment.

It definitely has more free weights than the Van Winkle location, but my experience enrolling wasn't great. They try to guilt you into getting personal training. When I told them I didn't want personal training they took it personally. My suggestion would be to enroll online.

The employees are are friendly and not pushy. There is a lot of equipment to use but just make sure you go not at a busy time. From 5 to 7 pm always seems busy especially during the winter months, January and February (probably due to new year resolutions). I have used a personal trainer but there seems to be a good variety of helpful trainers. I seem like I get my money's worth. This location doesn't have some of the nicer features like pool or suana but it does have a massage bed and tanning booth.

I have had nothing but great experiences at this gym. Thank you Preston for going out of your way for helping me out, and sharing your tips with me! He's cute too :)

This is not my home gym but being a member of vasa fitness allows me access to the gyms. I am just visiting and it is very convenient for me as i am working in the immediate area. Staff is very friendly and showers are good. And while not quite as big as other gyms there is plenty of stuff to get a good workout if you want. Thank you very much.

I've had two personal trainings with Erika at VASA fitness so far. Both times she was considerate of my goals AND my ability, so that I was "comfortably " sore for a couple days, and not feeling too sore to carry about my daily routine. I feel back in the groove to get back in shape after 20 years of laxity. I feel safe being trained by someone who really knows what they are doing. I get uplifting messages and reminders between appointments that keep me motivated. Besides that, she is super fun to be around because of her uplifting and positive personality.

Super friendly and helpful staff! I haven't been committed to a gym in a long time and they made the process super easy and less stressful for me. The gym seems well equipped and fits all my needs!

October 25, 2017 07:07

Even when I thought no one would be at the gym, there was still a lot of people! I like other VASA locations just not this one. It's not big enough for as many people that come around there. Also, it is not emphasized to clean equipment. I RARELY saw people clean equipment and there it's a little annoying to have to cross the entire room to get a wipe. They don't have them in convenient locations. I used to go to Planet Fitness and started going to VASA because it was closer to my how but I will be returning to Planet. I enjoy it more there.

Eh, it's a gym & it works but could definitely be cleaner. Most of the staff also gawks at you if you actually ask them to do their job. They also haven't fixed the stair master in like... 3 months?!? A little ridiculous. & two stair masters is definitely not enough for the size of the gym. But, cheap monthly rate so I shouldn't expect anything above & beyond.

Edited to respond to response below - what would really improve my experience is if the place was actually cleaned once in a while. Not trying to be snarky, but the place is fairly gross.

October 25, 2017 07:07

The gym is good for lifting, doing cardio, or classes. It's on the smaller side so there aren't many machine duplicates so if someone is using the one you want you have to wait. There isn't a pool or spa which is a downside. Overall it's a decent place to work out.

October 25, 2017 07:07

Not a bad place if you're not looking to spend a ton of money at a gym. Equipment is pretty nice and new and the facility is pretty clean. My only complaints is how they accidentally charged me twice for the annual rate guarantee fee then they charged me for cancelling my membership when I moved when I had been with them longer than the 6 month policy. After discussing with them they were helpful in getting things sorted out. Just check your statements!
