I was visiting Salt Lake City and needed a place to train for a week. The universal unifying nature of jiu-jitsu is well manifested in this academy - I recieved a warm welcome from the instructors and students. I felt the gym having an easy-going and friendly training enviroment. I want to express gratitude toward professor Steffen Soller and professor Eddie Edmunds for the hours that I attended. I found the classes being well-structured providing a lot of detail. During rolls you would definitely encounter a lot of technic on the mat in this academy :) Thank you!
Great group of people here, instructors are helpful as well as fellow team mates, I always felt great after a tough day of training. If you are in SLC and want to learn bjj this place, fusion academy, is the place to go. I recently started school and don't have the time but I hope to get back to rolling as soon as I can
I was in town for the day and was looking for a place to train before my flight. I dropped in on a no-gi class taught by Chris Wells. The guys were easy-going and great training partners to drill and roll with. Chris was a great instructor that showed valuable details that made each move easy to comprehend, drill, and repeat. I'll be back whenever I'm in Salt Lake City. Thanks guys!
Training at this gym has been a blast. The coaches are very knowledgeable and ready to share that knowledge with anyone who walks through the door. The fellow athletes are friendly and quick to welcome newcomers. I've rolled at a number of gyms around the US, and this gym definitely held its own. I'll be training here whenever I am in Salt Lake City.
So I came to SLC for work and was hoping I could find a good gym to catch a class in... I found it. Everyone at this school was not only gracious but super knowledgeable. I caught no gi rolling and a class and they were both amazing. Thanks Fusion!!!
Fusion Academy offers a great number of classes, in addition to a variety of both Gi and Nogi classes as well. I have been very pleased with how I have been treated and how much I've already learned while attending the academy. All questions I have had are answered in a very intelligent and understandable manner, which is a big reason why I keep coming back. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in training the art of Jiu-Jitsu to give Team Fusion a shot. You won't regret it.

A great gym with awesome people and instructors who know the art and etiquette behind an accomplished martial art, BJJ. Drop in for a good workout, meet some friends and make new experiences! I absolutely love coming to class.

This is my favorite BJJ/Grappling gym. I have trained at many. These are the reasons I like it:
1) Great instructors, they are knowledgeable and friendly, they answer all my questions well. Eddie is a fun guy and knows his stuff!
2) Diverse curriculum - you can study traditional Gi, No Gi, take downs, and even some 10th planet stuff.
3) They teach great material, stuff that really works, currently we are studying leg locks and I am really excited about this.
4) Lots of opportunities to roll, the way they schedule classes means I can put in a lot of time rolling which is what I love to do.
5) They have tons of classes which is great because I have been training often,
6) The students are great, I am learning a lot because they have a team of great students who push me hard and have great attitudes.
7) Great environment, I always have fun and enjoy interacting with my team mates people are welcoming and friendly.
I have been progressing faster at this school than any other one I have studied at.
I had a wonderful time rolling at Fusion. Chris, the instructor, clearly and patiently taught techniques that were useful for me as a white belt. Everybody that I rolled with was friendly and supportive.
I was visiting SLC for business and emailed the Academy on short notice. Eddy, the owner, was quick to respond and invite me over for a morning session. This kind of hospitality is keeps me motivated about jiu-jitsu.

Great instructors. Lots of classes to choose from. Great group of people with a wide range of experience.
Update: The lead instructor reached out to me after my review and was more than gracious in his attempts to address the situation I first encountered. I was actually humbled by his sincere engagement. With a leader like that, I'm sure I'll be back again to make this a 5 star rating. I haven't had the time to stop by but the owner and lead instructor is definitely a class act!!
I don't know what happened. The reviews on the place are so good. Let me say that the jiu jitsu I saw being trained was quality and without a doubt, I'm certain there are awesome Jiu Jitsu practitioners training there. Probably a group of really dedicated and cool people. My issue is I didn't meet any of them. I showed up early on a Monday night and no one, I mean not one person came up to chat, greet, inquire, anything. No engagement. I've trained at BJJ gyms all over the world and not one time have I ever had zero interaction with the practitioners. Always, one person, the owner, coach, professor, regular students, I mean someone will come and engage you. Here nothing. After sitting by for 45 minutes, I gave up and went somewhere else to observe their class and meet.
Now mind you, I'm not saying, stop what you're doing and treat me like I'm Santos Rene Rivera, Mackenzie Dern, Kron Gracie or someone haha. Not at all. I mean, even a quick, hey, i'm so and so, never seen you, do you train? Lets chat after class or once we start rolling and have a moment. Something haha but alas nothing. It was weird.
Eddie and the instructors at Fusion are awesome, and so are the students. Even on the first day, I never felt like an outsider. You'll jump in where everyone else is in the training cycle, and the more experienced students that I've drilled with have been happy to help out with tips and tweaks to technique. It's a fun environment and skill! If you're looking to start training Jiu Jitsu, it would be a mistake not to drop in and try a class at Fusion Academy.
Eddie and the team at Fusion Academy are extremely knowledgeable and always willing to take the time necessary to help introduce participants who are new to mixed martial arts to the skills they need to grow in the sport. They even help you get immersed in the culture and community. Thanks so much for the healthy learning environment.
Brilliant martial artists and excellent company. These people are great. I just started here (having trained Karate for several years) and everyone is so respectfull and welcoming. The instructors are very skilled and the studio is well equipped with class times that accommodate all schedules. I highly recommend Fusion Academy.
There are many things I enjoy about to going to Fusion. But the biggest reason is the learning environment.
The facility is in great shape and is clean. They offer numerous class times for both gi and no-go classes, which is great for my schedule. And all of the instructors and students are great to work with.
I train at Fusion every time I make it out to the city. Eddie and his team are always welcoming and great to work with. Eddie is a great Professor who always has the simple and effective answers to my many struggles. His instruction level is always spot on. Great spot to train, their class schedule is amazing. One can catch a class at almost any time of day, I can't wait to make it back out there! Thanks.
I've trained here for many years, and I will continue to train here until I am old and frail. Everyone is always welcome, and gives feedback on your progress. Many different skill levels are on the mat, so it always exposes you to different things to work on. Over the years I've seen many people leave due to life's obstacles, and I've seen many come back. People come back because they feel comfortable here.
You'll be challenged, and you should be.
But you will also feel welcome.
I've been training here for over 2 years now, and could not be more grateful to Professor Eddie, and to every one of the great instructors and students. Amazingly good culture! When I'm not here, I wish I was. I was initially apprehensive to begin a martial art as an adult, but now my life is dramatically changed for the better! (Gotta say: Jiu-Jitsu is where it's at..)
I'm honored to be part of Team Fusion =D
came to utah from cali looking to get a workout and learn some techique these guys were knowledgable and didn't have any egos a good school. i will go back when im in town
I have been training here for close to a year now after moving from CA and a this is the place you need to be if you want to train Jiu Jitsu in Salt Lake. There is a solid group of guys that come regularly and there is a good mix of skill levels. The instructors are great and the academy is with the Pedro Sauer Jiu Jitsu Association (if you don't know who he is, Google him). This place is definitely worth checking out.
I've been training there since January and the experience has been fantastic. The instructors are knowledgeable and the atmosphere is very positive. The student group has a great no ego attitude with everyone wanting to learn and get better together. Great place.
