Facility: Equipment is mostly new and kept up to date. Things that break are fixed. Things that are worn down are updated. Has about everything that you would want for cardio and weight lifting. I never did any of the classes, but from what I had seen, they weren't ever too crowded. But the layout is kind of strange. the machines over here, the weights over there. Plus, the 1 elevator as the only entrance (more detail below) is so slow and really annoying.
Staff: Not the friendliest bunch. Mostly unenthusiastic looks, unhappy hi's, and not excited to help you if there is an issue. Plus, they never know what the problem is and always say you'll have to talk to management who is never there.
Management: Probably the worst management I've ever dealt with. Slow to respond to anything. Calls. Emails. Texts. They don't really care about you as a member. You are a customer that should feel privileged to be allowed to enter their sacred facility. I went through a long back and forth game of being forced to re-sign up as an individual member since my name was "lost" in the system, and forced to pay the start up fee again. Then, I obliged and paid it. Then, a few months later, my scanner stops working. I check my credit card and they never charged me for anything. So I guess a couple free months for me, but seriously, they couldn't even figure out how to charge my credit card. And then guess, what, my name and number was lost out of the system, again! I'm done. Not going back to this place.
Location: Cool that it's in city creek, good if you live downtown. But for me it was a little drive.
Accessibility: This is maybe the worst part of the whole gym. Seriously, they only came up with the great plan to have one elevator to lead to the entrance. This elevator is used by the entire City Creek mall as well, stops at all floors, and gets pretty crowded. There is no stairs access. you can't easily get into the gym in anyway. You are forced through one, crowded, slow, elevator, in and out. There kind of is a back way, through the condos' elevators, but it's a maze and takes longer.
Affordability: Not the best priced gym, but about what you would expect for a city center, supposedly upscale gym. At least they don't force yearly contracts down your throat. It's something like 80 bucks a month for an individual membership, plus first and last month, so your first charge should be like 240 bucks, if they figure out how to charge your credit card and if their computers remember your name.
Crowd: The people there are cool. Mostly downtown living people that are well off. You don't get the gym rat or bro vibe. If anything, you get the "you're below me" vibe from some people trying to look rich and successful, from males and females. But, kind of like new yorkers, the people have a think candy shell, it still is a shell, but once you break it people are friendly and you won't really have a problem.
Overall: I won't go to this gym ever again. The only bad part is there aren't many other options that are in the same class as this gym. Vasa is a zoo, 24 hour fitness is rundown, and the local gyms are too small and don't have everything that you need. So if you are willing to put up with some inconveniences, can afford it, fit in with the people, and can deal with the elevator in and out, then it is the gym for you.
