Went to work out today for an hour, they have so many machines! Aerobic classes and pool classes to they also have a track around the machines which I thought was pretty cool. Over all a great experience!
It's a good place to get in a workout, go for a swim or play basketball, but they don't have a sauna like most other golds which does suck
Very seldomly do I leave bad reviews because there's enough negativity out there. Me speaking up is truly with the hope that they get this gym together. I love going here because the equipment is not too crammed like other locations and it's close to work. Last week was the first time I went in the morning so I needed to use their showers. I never noticed how much rust is in this place! All the locker handles are rusted, the showers were so dirty and in the grouts and drains had build up. At 5am you expect it to be at it's cleanest! It felt disgusting to touch anything. The staff has never been an issue here, my complaint is truly only on the maintenance of the bathrooms and some of the equipment. With all the upscale development coming in 2 yrs to Commerce St, downtown Broadway etc, this gym needs to get to a higher standard to measure up.
Let's start with the few things that allow for 2 stars. I am an Iron head from the 80's. I am used to old....yet affective equipment. This location has lots of equipment to get a general workout or bodybuilding pump. The smith machines are actually some of the best in San Antonio. Nice and smooth and no hitch. Well!!! That's all I got for the generous 2 stars. You can bench and sort of squat but don't bother if you want to deadlift or overhead press.
By far the dirtiest Gold's in San Antonio. (Live Oak is a close second) Every inch, including inside the lockers, is covered in dirt, dust, and/or grime. I did not even attempt to use the showers. If you are looking at google maps...look north or north west and by pass the Goliad Rd location.
First time and will be the last time to this location. When you walk into the front area you can't help to smell the stence of chlorine and get a slap of humidity straight up your face. Front desk was friendly and nice. She said to us this location had been other gyms prior to Golds taking it over. It looks like the same decor just different name. Corporate you need to spend some much needed time to bring this gym up to par. I bet Dallas doesn't offer slum locations. The floor was quite disgusting with a build up of dust bunnies and dirt. The floor looked like it's never seen a mop in its time. The machines were quite disgusting and never seen a cleaning towel and felt no cleaning solutions on them. No cleaning crew in sight. I also noticed that there was a lack of cleanliness when it came to people wiping their sweat off the machines. YUCK!! The ladies room needs some much needed cleaning. I say they need to revamp the whole gym. By the way the pool water looked green. UGH!! I can only imagine what the sauna and showers have not received. I should have worn a hazmat suite for this workout. Do not consider this location for a workout and don't let the pictures be deceiving. I should have taken pictures of the dirty floors.
According to survey this gym is constantly out of drinks. Also this gym is disgusting the lockers area and showers. Feels filthy at this gym. Just not good atmosphere for working out.

This is by far the worst gym I've been too. I'm a huge fan of Golds Gym, but this location is terrible. The customer service here is horrible. I'm willing to drive the extra mile to the other Golds Gyms on the north side.
The hours for the kids klub are missing so I added that. Other than that my rating on this gym overall is great. No complaints. No dirtiness. No rude employees.

Its a gym. They vary greatly from a reasonable on at Medical Center to some subpar ones like Goliad and Travis. Seem to put profit over the people they serve. During World Cup was not showing games...makes me think the people who run it know nothing about sport's.
Been to several gold's throughout the city and this one is the worst. The gym could use major remodeling, as it feels outdated. A lot of equipment is broken as well. I don't understand why they don't invest in this gym. It sure does have a lot of traffic. $$$ However, I also see a good handful of people that don't really seem serious about working out compared to other locations. Gets the job done I guess if you live close by. Other than that I would rather drive the extra mile.

I put four to five because all the Gold's Gym are really different from one another so it's hard to give a true rating. The one on Southwest Military always smells like bleach from cleaning and that has always grossed me out and not want to come back to that gym. However it's usually the most dead of all the Gold's Gyms I go to so it's a 50-50 to you. The one on Basse is pretty legit there's a pull up section that has these fake rock climbing handles that are pretty cool. All the other Gold's Gyms or your typical Gold's Gym. I think all of the gyms need to have a women's section. I'm not quite sure why they only have a couple like that.

I use the pool for my water exercising and it has improved a lot in the last few months. It is very clean and well kept in the pool and outside. I appreciate the improvements! The water really helps my Arthritis a lot.

Probably the worst Golds I've been to. The staff at the front desk was nice, but this place is extremely unorganized and needs to be updated. The people leave equipment all over the place and it doesn't seem like the staff is too interested in picking it up. Haha
Worst gym ever. Equipment is always broken. Sauna had nails sticking out. And when I tried to cancel my membership they made me sit there for an hour, then refused to see me. They refused my phone calls and emails. FOR A MONTH. Finally I cancelled my card on file. Now they say I owe them money??? They are such scammers.

I tried to cancel before my next payment was due, and I was told that the manager would call me back and cancel over the phone. She never did, so I was charged another month. I asked for a cancellation request or a signature showing that I was there to cancel and they refused to give it to me. This is a bad way of doing business. I would never go back to any Gold's gym!
The members are friendly. I was not impressed with trainer. And the sauna is usually dirty. But I use the pool alot in the early morning and afternoons on weekends and it is never crowded. I have seen some of the machines broken for a while.
Wow my husband and I like this place a lot we don't use the equipment but I'm go to the aqua classes all instructors we've had are all wonderful and the people in the classes are Christian and kind and we just have a lot of fun getting healthy. It is very clean and and all the employees are very nice they try to help you when you need it and if they don't have something that you want or need they try to get it for you. I think it's one of the best gyms around and my husband does too. Check them out they are great.

Older machines but staff is helpful pool and hot tub is clean. Great gym. Plus a indoor track.
I wanted to leave a review regarding a personal trainer, Jessie. I recently started training with him, and couldn't be more pleased. He is knowledgeable, professional, and focused. He is invested in his client's fitness goals and is completely present during your hour workout with him. He is not distracted, its like you are the only person in the gym. His professionalism is impressive and encouraging. He pushes you, and when you feel like you cant do anymore he pushes you some more. He came highly regarded, and now i will regard him as well. If you are looking to improve your fitness with a trainer, choose Jessie. He is simply the best. You will not be disappointed!
