LA Fitness is a good value for how much you pay. They have all the equipment I need from a gym, and it's maintained just fine. The classes they have are great. Try and avoid going at peak times and you won't have to wait to use things.
My complaint is this: sometimes I go there towards the end of the night. There's one young woman who works closing shifts often, and she's nice all the time, *except* near closing, when she treats everyone like they're misbehaving children. She yells stuff like, "Come on guys, get out of the shower, you've got to leave!" starting 20 minutes before closing. It's the tone of voice that's disrespectful -- it sounds like a bouncer kicking drunks out of a bar. But the gym won't be closing for another 20 minutes. And she'll walk through the mens locker room multiple times to shout at everybody while they're putting on clothes.
It's not abusive or anything really bad... but it's just a disrespectful way to talk to people. Also, one time I went there about 35 minutes before closing time, just for a quick shower before heading out, and she'd locked the front doors already, obviously trying to deter people from coming into the gym. I did get let in, but it made me feel like I was unwelcome.
So to summarize: good gym, but you'll get shouted at while you're trying to put on your underwear if you're there anytime near closing.
Be very careful about doing business with them! I was charged over $500 for a Personal Trainer I didn't need nor ask for and two $100 fees pending for something NOT discussed, requested, or included in my contract that I thoroughly read BEFORE signing! When I brought the extra charges to their attention they were clueless. My membership is paid so I'm stuck for a few months...
The facility is descent.
Sky high prices for a very bland work out place. No character. Unless you consider the muscle bound sales man who tries to make you feel like you desperately need their gym, a character. Save your money and your ego and go to Planet fitness.
I've recently made the switch from Gold's Gym to LA Fitness and I couldn't be happier! Their rates are much more reasonable and no contracts! Every location has a pool, basketball court, racquetball courts, juice bar, and child care. It's spacious, clean and the staff is great! If you want to have a look around, ask for Edward, he's great!
Great gym to work out at, I love coming here, everyone is super nice. They have different membership deals going on every so often, so it's good to check back with the staff and you can always switch your membership over to something more affordable. They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi, vending machines with Gatorade and other drinks, etc. There is also an unaffiliated juice bar here that sell delicious smoothies and sandwiches at an affordable price.
I love my days at the gym! Great, informative staff. Many classes you can take to better your health and fitness. Olympic swimming area, saunas, showers and clean bathrooms.
I work out their 3 to 4 times week. Their tredmills are very good there elliptical was are OK there share steppers 4 out of 5 work. Weight equipment is good to excellent. Free weights are adequate and tyrion clientele everything from average Joe to hot chicks in spandex. It's alright I get good workout when I go . They also have punching bags that you can work out on with gloves on.i got back in shape in1year here. Mike C

By far the worse customer service I have ever encountered. I'm glad I finally changed gyms. I really recommended everyone to look somewhere else to trained. There way better gym at much cheaper rates or with the same but much better customer service.

I had join this gym in 2015-2016. didnt have issues at that time. The gym and kids area was properly staffed.. due to personal reasons I left the gym and joined again in 2017.. However the gym was not the same.. it was stinky, hot and the womans locker room not clean.. the worse part was the kids area.. it's super small, lack of ventilation and way to many kids for only one staff member that is only sitting down at the desk not worrying about the kids. I tried finding out what the kids ratio was, but NOBODY could give me an answer. I cancelled October of same year. I joined an awesome gym Freedom Fitness, with my amazing luck this gym was bought out as of July 1st 2018 by LA FITNESS. GREAT!!! Came to work out today, the kids area (my main priority) still a mess, still small with little to no toys for kids to stay busy, with 18 kids of all ages (I counted) and only 1 girl there at the desk in front of the computer complaining that one of the kids broke her phone, the gym still smells...and they raised the child care price to $15 a month as if that Kids Center was worth that. There is not enough ventilation in this place. They got rid of the carpet all over the gym (that's a plus) but I feel with the amount of parents that attend, they should invest in making the kids area bigger, more comfortable for the kids and more ventilation In there. I did cancel my membership because this gym is just a mess. Friendly staff though. My hunt for a new gym starts tomorrow.
I love the layout of this gym. I also appreciate that there is more than enough room on the weight floor for both guys and gals.
Club Member for as long as their around. Best service I have encountered in a gym. They supersede experience in all aspects, helping you to succeed is their goals for their clients.
Women's locker room is always a hundred degrees and for some reason the staff like to pretend they've never been told this. I recommend finding a different LA Fitness
Equipment is Awkwardly organized (cardio separated upstairs, and core/stretch area is too small and awkwardly placed under the stairs in middle of walkway), the best space for interval training is only reserved for trainers and their clients, Med balls and TRX equipment is not available to all patrons, don't expect to get a quick workout here because you will have to wait for machines and weights. Too small, too crowded, and too unaccessible for All patrons. Did I mention dirty restrooms and dirty mats? Never again.
Whoever designed the remodel sucks. please change the personal training area back! there is no open space anymore. I love doing interval work outs or just play around on various free equipment and there is nowhere to do that anymore. Also the new floor sucks, the cushion mats slip on them so bad I almost broke my foot.
No hot water comes out of the sinks. Are you freaking kidding me? ... and since when are women allowed to go into the mens locker room area? See them going in there all the time. The front desk employees are either over worked or tired or rude. They arent trained to properly greet guests. Def makes Golds Gym a much better experience. The Babcok location dont even bother one word describes it (Manager) horrible customer service all around! Be cautious of handing them your id they refuse to give it back when you dont sign up for a membership! They get real ugly! Came here to workout this week. Another gentleman who came to work out as well suffered a cardiac arrest. I honestly don't think he made it out alive. None of the employees in this location know CPR. I repeat NONE.. The gentleman perhaps would have been alive if given chest compressions. They should make CPR mandatory for their employees. Anybody that has medical issues, especially related to the heart, please don't workout here.

This location advertise that they stay open until 8pm on Saturday.
Tried to get into the gym at 730pm for a quick workout for 30 minutes, and they already locked their front door.
Poor business and a serious ripoff.
Go to other LA fitness locations In San Antonio. Other locations will treat you better and honor their business hours as advertised.
I was staying nearby at the Hilton so it was convenient. The staff were helpful. The extensive facilities (machines, dumbbells, bars, and racks) for strength training were excellent. For deadlifts, a hexagonal (trap) bar would be a plus. When I am back in San Antonio, I will go to this gym.
They scam you out of your deposit! Will recommend everyone I know to not go to this gym. Their corporate office are a bunch of snakes. DONT JOIN HERE ITS A RIPOFF! Pay the extra at golds! At least they won't lie to you and scam you!!!!!
Great place to workout and have time to yourself. The staffs are nice, brings a smile when I come in say hi and thank you. Love the building layout and still clean.

They had pool, basketball court, racket ball court, dance studio, cycling room, treadmills, weights, juice bar, childcare, Sauna, showers, locker rooms, and so much more... Couldn't believe how much they have to offer. I'm definitely getting a membership here!!!.....
Ok but too many people monopolize multiple pieces of equipment at a time reserving with towels and water bottles. Come on people... also they removed FNC from elliptical eq tv. Come one, some 50% dont like CNN.

This location is not my "home" gym, but it's convenient for me to stop here on my way to work. The setup inside is nice, locker rooms are always clean, and the staff is very polite. The only thing I wish was different is the fact there it's an area to work out with modified workouts. If you want to do walking lunges, free squats, etc you have to go near the stairmaster area where there's like 4 mats to sit on (I've noticed better and more private sections at other locations). Just a thought, not something to hold against them, all locations will have their differences. Other than that it's a great location right off the 410 freeway
