Great place to work out. The shelves on the walls are lined with power lifting trophies and they cater to more serious lifters. It's a lot like Metroflex or Powerhouse Gym.

Bad ass gym with a cool community and positive atmosphere...great for the beginners and the experienced alike
Neighborhood gym. Feels like you're working out in a buddies garage. Don't expect the same amenities as golds but, still worth looking into.

If you wanna sit on a machine all day while texting this is not the gym for you. If you are serious about lifting weights this is a great gym at a great price. I first went to Joe's in the 90's when SA had Fitness Connection, Raquetball, Ballys etc... When I stepped in this gym and heard the loud Rock music and the grunting and screaming I knew I would fit right in lol
Like it ,no A.C. it's seriously gets ur bodybuilding, on point they don't mess around.
This is a sweet gym. Only been twice so far and I think I'm gonna have to sign up for a membership. If you're looking to pack on some serious muscle and be in the right environment to do it, you gotta check this place out.

I've been working out in San Antonio for 7 years. I've had the opportunity to work out at many gyms in SA, including Lifetime Fitness, Gold's Gym, Anytime Fitness, Planet Fitness...and for the first time at Joe's Gym last night. Let me just say the atmosphere of the place is so intense and ideal for anybody that is serious about their workouts and physique. This is a no bull**** type of gym. The machinery is the old-school bodybuilding type. This is no lifetime fitness... You go to joe's to get work done. Their price for a daily visit was $5 which was what I paid when I showed up. 30 minutes into my workout, I went back to the front desk and signed up for the monthly, no contract membership of $35 /month with no initiation fee. This is by far the best gym in San Antonio hands down.
Keep in mind, there is no water fountain there. So bring a gallon of water or you can buy one there for $2.00. Oh and bring a small towel to wipe off the equipment when you're done using it.
