I never leave reviews unless I absolutely feel like I have to whether that be a company going above and beyond or just really irritating the heck out of me. I wish I would've read reviews about cancellations before I spent a whole year here giving them my money. I knew I would have to cancel at some point because we are military but WOW. I have gone back and worth with them and I still got charged twice, ($60+ just wasted) doesn't matter if you're military and get stationed in another state/country. You can't cancel in the gym, you HAVE to do it online and even then you have to print out the form and MAIL it in. Horrible customer service if you ask me. It's like when you call a company and all you get is an automated system and you just want to talk to a representative. Calling is POINTLESS because all they tell you to do is leave a message on their website and they'll get back to you. I first went to the gym to cancel and the girl at the front desk said I had to do it on the website and they'll give me a call, I was guessing the call was to see why I was cancelling or what they could do to prevent me from leaving. Never received a call so a few days later I call and they tell me to submit another request online and it goes back and forth from there. Honestly would've rather stayed at gold's but I gave this gym a try and wish I hadn't. Definitely won't be recommending them anymore. I guess if you're looking for a forever gym and never want to cancel, here you go. Also STW, please don't even respond to my bad review. I know you recently updated your cancellation process, too bad I was too late. Took you long enough and enough bad reviews for you to FINALLY do something.

One of the best decisions I ever made. Great workouts, a nice variety of different classes and great instructors that will work with you to help you reach your fitness goals.

They are ready to enroll you and take money same day same time but cancellation will only by MAIL .....what....!!! and they will tell you that process by email with 72 hours response time.

with this policy you can understand the services. Anybody with good service will have good cancellation policy but their pathetic policy is to bring you in a contract to kill any way out !!!

Also ..... once you send them letter by mail....even on a month to month membership, they will cancel after 60 days of letter postmark date. so that they can take 2 additional months of money ....what a scam !!!!

Join this gym ONLY if you're absolutely sure you'll NEVER, EVER, EVER want to cancel! The billing and cancelation policies of this place are absolutely nightmarish! I don't like to waste my time writing bad reviews all that often, but this place deserves an exception. Here's what you're about to put yourself through by joining...

I had my wallet stolen, and had to change my card numbers, this inadvertently put me one month behind on payment to Krav Maga because they had the old number. But I hadn't been to the gym for awhile, so decided to call and cancel...

I was told they won't cancel by phone, and that I have to send an email. So I sent an email. I never heard back. The next month I realized they tried to bill me again and were saying I was 2 months behind and were going to send me to collections.

I told them I had canceled. They said I could only cancel by sending in a special printed form, that they wouldn't even send to me until my payment was made in full, including whatever late fees they wanted to charge.

I realized at this point that I REALLY needed to leave this place, so I begrudgingly made the payments (which can only be made during business hours Monday-Thursday, and only Friday mornings, and then it'll be processed in a batch the NEXT business day). After everything had been processed, I then had to email them on the business day AFTER THAT to request their little special form. They drag all of this out for as long as possible so that you'll miss a step or forget to check your email and end up with yet ANOTHER bill for another month...

I then had to wait a few days while I guess they debated about whether or not to let me leave, and they finally sent me the form. Then I had to find somewhere to print it out, then fill it out, and include my membership card in the envelope (the instructions conveniently didn't say to do this but I reread my old contract and noticed they would bill me extra if I didn't return my tag.) I also needed to call them (during business hours) so I could ask what the last 4 digits of the payment method was... cause they needed that for some reason.

The place I needed to get the form back to was right here in SA, so I'll just drive it over right? NO. I have to go wait in line at the post office and pay $5 to buy the signature confirmation service (otherwise they'll pretend they never got it - as other reviewers here will attest to). At least they admitted this on the form by "highly recommending" I pay for signature confirmation... I took this as an admission that they'd "misplace it" if I didn't... Reading the other reviews here I can see that I was right.

Then as a one final farewell "Thank You", they won't cancel your membership when they get the letter, but only 30 days AFTER they get it, so that they can bill you AGAIN - and hit you with another 50% late fee when the card is declined and you need to give them another card number... But at least you can still go to the gym during this last month right? Nope. You had to send your membership card back to them remember?

You've been warned.

I think this place is good for what they can teach in self defense; however, their poor, rude, and intimidating tactics in trying to get us to enroll after the free class was the worst deplorable customer service I've ever received. If this is how they treat us while trying to make us their members, imagine how they will be afterwards. My niece had told me the same thing happen to her when she went for the free self defense class.

Have not gone sine October 2017 due to my work schedule, yet I have had to pay this entire time and my contract isn't over till September!! DO NOT SIGN THE CONTRACT. There is no way around it unless you have a doctors order, military orders or relocate, and even at that, I'm pretty sure it is not certain that you will be able to break the contract.

Horrible contract trap. contract policy is Terrible. Don't ever join krav maga or else you will get stuck in their contract trap for 15 months. Which is like impossible to cancel. Their payment services company is pain in ass. They will keep on calling you to take as much money as they can. Don't join krav maga. Or else you will regret. This place should have been closed already. Zero star from me if I am allowed to.

The work outs were fine, ended up deciding Golds was a better fit. I had signed a 2 year contract, but they continued to charge well after. Once I saw that they were continuing to pull from my account, I contacted their member service and was told you have to write a letter and send it in to cancel (even if you had a specified contract time). You could not even email this in or do it online-- they only except mailed-in letters (umm what?!). They refused to refund any of my money that they withdrew past the contract time. All in all, you are forced to sign a contract, but they'll continue to charge you without your consent past the expiration of the contract. Very bad business practices, would not attend again.

STW 911 is quick to take your money but makes it as complicated and inconvenient as possible to cancel. For that fact alone I would not recomend, no one can go forever. The Crosstoads location is dirty. The classes are way too over crowded. The fitness instructors are nice which is what kept me going there this long.

Terrible gym. Hour of operations is horrible. The contracts are trash. I recommend to not join this gym. Big regret.

Incredibly scummy contract rules. Read before you sign, better yet go elsewhere.

The manager respindireon Yelp reviews is also quite the dick, that's not very good customer serbise.

Gym is ok. The gloves are disgusting. Two male staff members propositioned me to do nasty things to my body in the bathroom. Very unprofessional. When I complained, the manager laughed it off as normal behavior. This place needs to get sued. Apparently the staff are encouraged to hook up with each other and with patrons so the staff can get paid more. I hate this place. There are better Krav studios where people are treated with respect.# time's up # me too

Gym was nice, but the sales tactics are shady. Went to check out gym a year ago with a friend and told them we were specifically interested in the bag class. They even let us try the bag class. Then the sales person offered us two plans, a shorter plan and a longer one with a few perks and a slightly lower monthly cost. We chose the longer contract and started attending the bag class. After a week, I was stopped at the front desk when they scanned me in and said the bag class wasn't included in my plan! I waited half the class to talk to someone, they ended up letting me go to the class and said I could see someone after. When I finally talked to someone, they said the bag class is a totally seperate plan and was almost double the cost! We weren't even offered that plan! After trying to pass me off to someone else, and telling me to come back, all they could say is that they would be happy to change my plan and charge me at the higher rate! No thank you!

Complete BAIT AND SWITCH! After talking to several folks at the gym My friend and I both sent emails to try and get resolved and were basically told we were SOL. Never went back and after over a year I am finally trying to get my account cancelled.

Yeah, like others here have said, you have to send a CERTIFIED LETTER that they have to RECEIVE 30 days before you want to cancel. And add an extra $10 fee if you don't send your key tag with it.

This complaint is due to a contract that I signed and I want to cancel it. Back in April I got a call from this gym saying that they have a promotion going on and they think that I would be interested in it. I went there to see what is was about and they offer me a free class and I liked it. This was a time that I was mobile with a car and I can go back and forth to the gym as I pleased. So I was like hey I can lose weight with people with the same goal with a trainer and I get I to do self defense. I made the first payment to get into the gym for the first month which was in April. This is where the problem came I went to that gym about 2-5 times and in the beginning of May my mother got into a car accident with our only car transportation. I was not able to get back and forth to the gym. The gym is 13.1 miles away from my home I was just not able to get their when I was new to the city already. So I called them and I explain to them my situation and they said in order to cancel you gym membership I must email everything to their billing center and send them everything that they need in the mail in the mean time they would freeze my account . This was in the middle of May. I ask them to freeze my account but I guess they never did and a payment was taken out of my account on May 15 of 62 dollars. I sent them an email on May 15 to cancel my membership. I got their requirements back on the 16 and I sent them their things they need on the 17. I didn't hear back from them at all so I called their billing center asking them why my account is not closed as yet and why I didn't hear from them until June. They said that they didn't receive anything from me and that I can't cancel my membership because I don't live 35 miles away and that they need a doctors note stating that I am not physically able to work out anymore. If they don't have that they won't cancel my membership. I told them I am really struggling right now and I can't make any payments or make it to the gym with no car still. I am only 19 years old and this is the worst I ever have to deal with. They sent me mail threats saying that if I don't make a payment that they would put this on my credit. And just recently they sent me a lawsuit saying that if they don't get their payments that they are suing me for their payments. Just horrible.

If I could make it zero stars, I would. They only care about trying to leech as much money out of you as they can. I read the reviews saying this, I wish I had given them more credence. I only hope the bad karma will catch up to them over time as this happens to more people and the negative reviews start piling up.

I was in medical school and due to some unforeseen difficulties I was not able to go for six months. I tried again and again to contact someone, whether by calling, stopping at the studio, or emailing, and they just gave me the go around again and again. Even if you sign the contract for one year, once the contract is over, THEY WILL CONTINUE TAKING MONEY FROM YOU WITHOUT CONTACTING YOU. No refund possible, they just don't give a flying you know what. Actually cancelling your account (not early, just when it was supposed to end) is an incredibly drawn out process. DO NOT GO HERE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Here is what they just told me:

We received your request to cancel your membership. All memberships become month to month after the obligation term has been met therefor there will not be a refund issued. Below is the cancellation policy as found on the back of your pink copy of your member agreement. Please follow the cancellation procedures, as we do not cancel at the training facility or via email:

CANCELLATION POLICY: Please note all draft memberships will continue on a month to month basis until cancelled by member with a 30 day written notice. Member must send a written notice by certified (return receipt) mail to the following address: AMERICAN PAYMENT SERVICES , P. O. BOX 130, MARBLE FALLS, TX, 78654. You may not cancel at the Center. All cancels take effect 30 days from the postmark on the certified letter. Your membership slide card must be returned with your cancellation. There is a $10.00 charge (to be drafted) for any card not returned. You cannot be canceled with an outstanding balance due.

Hey guys, I have a great idea for you to help with the contract issues. We have implemented a Freeze option for people with financial issues and also implemented a 90-day cancellation policy for contracts. This has helped our members in their difficult situations and has caused them to be satisfied during challenging times and even the times where they need to cancel. We have also implemented a Month to Month option a few years ago that costs $20 per month more and requires only a 30-Day cancellation period. I know you have a desire to provide the best options to your members so I hope this helps. Great center you have there!

Went there for two years. More of a cross fit school that happens to teach Krav Maga. Fitness is excellent. Self defense is lacking. No sparring or grappling. Advanced
techniques are only taught to law enforcement and instructors. Also promotion system is rigged so you cant advance too fast, and upper management mostly concerned with money.
