This gym has gotten a lot better since the new management has been put in or at least it appears that it's new management. The bathrooms are a lot cleaner and it looks like the gym equipment has been repaired or replaced with new equipment. However seriously why is it that we only have CNN as a news option. every gold's gym I've been to his only had CNN playing and no other news outlets. Seems like it's been ordered by corporate or something.

Just a couple blocks from my house, very convenient. They had a free 7-day pass so I signed up and went there to try. Gym looked OK but super crowded

I was here to write a review, but noticed someone said Raymond at the front desk was rude. I've been going here for 11 months and he is been nice 100% of the time. I'm not sure what they did to change that for them.
Anyways, the gym definitely needs some repairs to about 25% of the machines. Some of them just need a new part, I haven't spoke to the manager so I'm not sure what his routine is here. The hot water has been out a few times this year too.
Some of my biggest problems are with the mens room. The shower area SMELLS BAD especially that machine that gets the water out of your swimsuit. There is no reason for the smell. The bathrooms are almost never clean. I am in here 4-5 days a week either in morning or evening, its never in "tip top" shape. I'm not sure the hours they think they clean, but it isn't noticeable throughout the day.
Ernest, get those people cleaning properly and do an inspection of your equipment. It's not too far gone to make it really nice again.

There's a guy at the front desk don't know his name but he is the friendliest front desk worker golds gym has period. Cool dude clean gym, have yet to walk in a dirty restroom. It gets packed but that's all gyms around the same time.

Someone said this gym is where equipment comes to die....it's true. Majority of equipment is always missing parts too(hand grips, pins, broken seats, etc. etc.) Gym rules are never enforced, therefore the atmospher sometimes feels like a County Jail workout area. Showers are seldom cleaned properly. I've kept from complaining, hoping for things to get better and they haven't. I continue to go there because it's the nearest Gym to me.

Tye place isnt that bad .
Machines are older and weights are scattered but thats the customers fault by not putting them back...however house keeping is a shame ..while i was there they were sweeping in the locker room but the showers havent seen a bottle of bleach and a scrub brush in quite sometime..the smell in the showers is pretty bad ...no hot water was also an issue..also while reading these reviews of this place im seeing we should email the mgr ...maybe the person who responds to these reviews should forward all concerns to the mgr..would really be nice
....update 2 weeks later showers still smell like a swamp aweful smell..but place remains the same good place
SMELLY SHOWERS...pleasr golds clean or sanitize them at least hourly during busy times

Manager Nora Pair has very bad additude and poor management skills does not know how to talk to people. When I pointed it out to her she got worse. Not coming back to this golds. I highly recommend that they get a new manager or people skills because shes lacking.

The guy at the front desk named Raymond was very rude. This is the first time we come to this location. My sister and I have memberships, and our mother just came as a visitor. We tried to explain that to him, but he just had a bad attitude. He asked us what is the location we usually go and told us he was going to report us. He even said that he will not explain it to us in Spanish...just because we are Hispanic that doesn't mean he has to explain it to us in Spanish. We didn't even asked him to. That was very racist. He also told us not to come to this location. We felt so humiliated. The only reason I give 2 stars it's because the zumba instructor (Chanell) was very helpful and understanding.

Old and broken equipment everywhere. Dirty and unkempt. It is unfortunate to see a gym that was once well maintained fall by the wayside. Golds management is undeniably out of touch with just how much of a disgrace they are compared to the idea of the original Golds gym.

I've been going to this gym for over 4 years! The sauna is the best part and they finally upgraded their Stairmaster machine. This is what keeps me coming back besides the nice treadmills..... Kuddos!

This used to be a clean and well kept gym...now it's full of broken equipment and facilities, dirty, and has trash everywhere. The mens bathroom was flooded, weights are misplaced and scattered throughout the floor. It's pretty sad that management allowed this gym to fall apart...get it together Gold's

I have been going here since they opened. Other reviews are correct about the broken down equipment. We get leftovers when the other gyms get new stuff. I think there are only 2 treadmills that have working fans anymore. They also take months to fix broken equipment, and the sanitizer bottles are either out completely or filled with plain water. But my main problem now is the change in hours. VERY UPSETTING!!! Already bad enough that they changed from 24 hours to 4 am. Not only do I now have to cut my workout short since I used to get there at 3:15 am, but I knew when this started a few weeks ago they would once again have employees not showing up to open the gym. Well guess what?? For the 2nd time in a week there was no one there to open the gym at 4am!!! Not only that, but other members realized if you just pull on the door hard, it will open. So everyone just started going in and working out in the dark, with no lights or air on. By 5am when I left, it was still dark. There were about 20 - 25 people working out inside, with no employee anywhere!! This has been a problem for years. This is why I stopped working out on Monday mornings - the employees never showed up to work! Luckily, the gym was 24 hours after that so I at least got to workout Tuesday - Friday. Now, that isn't possible anymore either since no one shows up to open!! Saturdays and Sundays are just as bad. Too many times I have shown up at 7 am when they open and everyone is standing outside waiting. There was one Saturday I waited an hour and still no one showed up.

Time to replace the disintegrating yoga mats, and give the changing/shower/restrooms a much needed face-lift.
Update Feb 6, 2018: Still nothing done about the issues I raised. Disappointing. How many one-star reviews will management allow before they stop with the lip-service and actually do something?

I joined this gym for the Les Mills classes. The cycling studio has bikes that are falling apart and it is really disappointing. The instructors are nice though.
The women's gym smells awful and I don't think it is ever cleaned. Why is there NO MIRROR in the women's gym?? The weights are always missing. I don't know what is the point of having a separate women's gym if I have to leave every 5 seconds to get a weight from outside.
The bathrooms are always gross. The yoga mats are seriously just falling apart. I seriously don't know if this gym is ever cleaned.

Great gym, not to clean and not to dirty! If you want to avoid the overdressed diva Meatheads, that are in the way recording themselves all the time never go between 5:30 to 8ish

A few of the trainers and front desk employees are abysmal, unfortunately it only takes a few. Harassed for not having key fob, interrupted and harassed to put away equipment (while I'm using it), interrupted and harassed to correct how I'm lifting (mid lift). As a paying patron, just let me get in and work out in peace please.
Great vibe overall though. Can't beat the patrons or the motivation. Great energy.

Had a very disappointing experience with bringing in a potentional new member. I was aware there was a 3 day pass online and wanted my friend who is a first year teacher in San Antonio to check out the gym so she could join. I decided just to bring her in so she could see for herself. The young man we spoke to was extremely rude and kept saying she needed to pay $15 to workout. When I asked him about giving her information and let him know she was thinking about joining he repeated he'd give her a tour but she had to pay $15 to use equipment. I was so confused considering there is a pass online that allows people to check out the gym. I was embarrassed by my "home gym" and disappointed in the lack of customer service and just basic manners. His approach was very aggressive and rude and completely unnecessary.

The MECCA of Golds Gym in SA for sure. This is not your typical upscale fancy gym your looking for to get a nice little sweat and shed a couple pounds. The majority of people here are serious lifters and come in to get business done. I have been coming here the last 2 years smashing workouts, although this gym does get packed the atmosphere is great and motivating. It gets the job done if your looking for serious gainz. For all those negative reviews out there on this location Lifetime is up the street. Get out of our way .

OK as far as equipment there's hardly anything machine wise for waist training yes there's those ones you have pull the cord add your weights but not everyone wants to do that I like the ones where you push that thing a ma Bob in it and its set... And woman usually want to train those areas not even in the woman's section.... And bathroom upstairs always smells horrid!!! And the woman's facility was so dirty that debris was flaking off my knees on a vertical crunch I still go here because its really close to my residence.... Woman's section is really tiny and I mean tiny its like a little ole till shed... Please please do something about these issues I pay way more here than I paid at freedom fitness when I lived in medical center and they are and look extremely radiant in comparison! And I'm not complaining to bash or be a bad person I honestly think these are issues needing attention
Omg look at the reviews said owner do something you're in dire need of change this is advice for your business have a meeting with you're employees accountability is necessary new hire something needs to be done do you care about your customers satisfaction? If you do please demonstrate. Actions speak louder than words!

Sorry phone pressed one star! Me and my bf loved it!! Will be back!!

I've been coming to this gym for pure convenience, nothing more.
Pros: friendly consistant people that work out there.
Cons: staff has no personality, and can be rude sometimes. The machines are old and need replacing. No hot water...thats right. There have been a few times that there was no hot water. The longest lasting about 1 week (5 days). The curtains in the men's showers have "peeping holes" cut in them. The ceiling leaks when it rains. The tv's in the men's locker room sometimes don't work.
