Got bored of going to the gym 4-5 days a week after so many years, so decided to look into MMA and check this place out. Randomly walked in, and was greeted by super nice owners. Signed up for classes that day, and have been enjoying the classes since then. The instructors are really knowledgeable, and will teach you great self defense with a better workout than your gym.

So, I just want to preface that I wanted to give this place a chance. But this is a review from someone that did not get to train here, not even one session. So this has nothing to do with the quality of the training as I did not get to experience it. That being said, I had an appointment set for what I thought would be a training session, to see how things are run, check out the culture, things like that (normal things that people want to check out before pulling the trigger). But instead, I was walked around for about 3 minutes by a man whom I believe was named "Doug" but I may have misheard. He was a really big dude and I have no idea if he was even a coach or anything, he didn't mention what his role was. After walking around we went into an office and he had me sign a waiver, so I thought I was going to get to check out a class. But then he asked me some more basic questions like what motivated me, and things like that. He then jumped straight into pricing. So I was like alright cool! But then he tried to get me to pull the trigger right there and I was like "look man, I came in committed to not pulling the trigger impulsively because I want to see other gyms too and weigh out my options" and he basically made me feel like trash for that. Saying if I liked one gym that I already tried out, chances are I'm going to like this one too because it's all the same... No... it's not... and even if it is, don't you want to make yours seem more appealing for me to sign up? Maybe by letting me try ONE session to see how things are run? Anyway, on my way out he very rudely told me that if I don't sign up now, he would bet that I'm never signing up anywhere. Then, when I asked for a flyer that he showed me where the prices were listed he said nah and I asked for a picture just so I can keep it said "well you already know its 547 for 90 days." No handshake, no "hope to see you soon" didn't even look me in the eye when we were wrapping things up. Like he was disappointed in me or something. Bruh.... I just want to weigh out my options. Dude was rude and pushy as hell. I never want to be near this place again.

We were looking for a meantime sport for our daughter so that she can stay active while her other sports were back in season. We never imagined that she would love this sport beyond measure. I've never seen her so excited to go to class everyday. When we first called I did think it was weird that they wouldn't give us a price over the phone, but I'm glad they didnt. We got to go down there and see first hand how they treated the children and what the atmosphere was like. They explained prices and what the contracts were like and what was best for us. We absolutely made the right choice! This has become such a big part of her life in such a few short months (4 months to be exact) and we are so happy with everyone at Pinnacle! My daughter has even gotten one tournament under her belt and we are sooo looking forward to the future! Thank you. I would 10 out 10 recommend this to anyone!

Walked into Pinnacle Martial Arts and was immediately amazed by how clean their establishment was. Then once I got on the mats for my first Jiu-Jitsu class my standards were not only met but surpassed! The knowledge of the instructors and the availability of classes are absolutely incredible. I look forward to continuing training and eventually competing.

I recently started training BJJ here and I am BLOWN AWAY by the professionalism and camaraderie I've walked into. Everyone is very welcoming and always willing to take some time to teach what they know and to provide helpful tips.
I also appreciate how often classes are offered. It helps me to fit training around my busy schedule. I'm looking forward to the next few years here.

Sketch as hell...I am looking to learn MMA and I told them I was a busy guy looking for a specific price range ( I don't have time going to all these places without knowing a price range) and they were trying to overturn my objections of having to go all the way down there so they could try to sell me a package.

I was very frustrated with their customer service. They are using recruiting techniques to lure you down and then hook line and sink. Tips they will acknowledge your question ignore it and resume with their pitch. They will end with a question each time to take control of the conversation. Don't be fooled. I came from the world of sales and marketing and this is totally that. They are most likely overpriced or expensive and they will try to say they have deals or special offers to make you think that it isn't expensive. Please be warned their services may or may not be good I don't know but from their first point of contact in customer service I doubt they are anything but honest and fair.

Worst experience I have ever had. I have a lot of social media followers and trust me they will know about this experience. I hope this review helps you. I am not bashing the company just their methods. Its obvious that they have to hide their prices because they are going to try to lock you in a contract that you can't get out of. It's easier to pressure you in person than over the phone. Trust me I know.

Also most of their good reviews will be from staff members, managers or other people they hire to make sure the bad reviews get covered. Its an old company trick.

I got a response from the "owner" it reads

"At first, I was like WOW Kayne has some real deep rooted issues he must deal with."

How professional is that? As an owner of a business all you did was prove how badly your professionalism and class is on getting a review. So first off; all you did in your response is talk about what you offer, and bash me as a critic. I didn't complain about what your companies services are, I complained about how you withheld prices, are vague over the phone and non compliant to a customer's wishes. You are literally in your response talking about things I didn't even touch or critique about.

Second I did have time to write a review because it took ten minutes you wanted to take hours out of my day which add up to me going to your facility, getting a tour and then sitting me down to try to lock me in a contract.

People are not stupid and your critiques all say exactly the same thing "sketch" "vague" "trick you into contract" "very expensive" so If I am not the only one who says it then it has to be true.

Like I said if it was such a big deal and you have nothing to hide, you could have told me your prices off the get go but you didn't because you obviously have some system, pitch and process to deceive buyers into purchasing a service they aren't aware they are purchasing.

In any case thank you for showing your true colors in your response. Your tact and lack of professionalism unlike your prices, are priceless!

Pinnacle Martial Arts is awesome! I originally came here to find something for my son. My husband liked what he saw and after much discussion, we signed up. My son started with BJJ and immediately loved it. My husband and I started with the MMA class. We joined the adult class to have a way to get more fit. Honestly, I haven't exercised in over 20 years. I was hurting all the time and it was hard to even walk at times. With the help and support of ALL instructors and staff at Pinnacle, my husband has lost 60 pounds and I have lost 50 pounds. I am able to join the class with exercises and drills. I have so much more energy and confidence. I no longer sit in the sidelines... I play with my kids now. EVERYONE at Pinnacle is 100% supportive in your journey. They become your family and help celebrate all victories, big and small. We love the variety of class times and have been able to comfortably make time for training within our busy schedule. They even worked with me during a financially hard month so that we wouldn't have to interrupt our training. I feel honored to train with such an awesome, supportive and knowledgeable group of instructors.

Thank you for everything,
Angela Goss

>I was told I had a 30 day risk-free free trial. I asked this multiple times before signing. I was told I would pay on a per-monthly basis. Even the website says this.
>I was told wrong scheduled time for classes.
>I decide to cancel after two weeks of driving for a half-hour and discovering that I was told the wrong class time and thus missing the class.
>My bank account was cleaned out of every penny I had and told I must pay almost $1,000, or "40% of the cost" as a cancellation fee since it has been "three days since I started my trial."

This was recommended by both my friend and therapist as a way to deal with my depression. I feel lied to and having my entire bank account taken from me has left me with nothing. Now I feel like a hostage and it has devastated my financial situation.

If anyone cares to read past that, the instructor seemed like someone who knew his stuff. The facility was nice and the students there, as funny as it was to watch a half-dozen obese people try to do some high-intensity exercise, seemed nice-enough to me. It's just the business side of it that is the problem.

I don't know what I'm going to do now. I can't even attend the courses since no-one has ever told me the correct meeting time. Even if I had the information I literally have nothing left in my bank account to pay for the gasoline to drive there. God forbid the state attorney denies my request for arbitration. There is no way I can pay for my education and what is claimed that I owe. I was only convinced by the free 30-day trial and the promise of a per-month payment basis. I made it very clear that I could not afford to do otherwise...yet I was constantly reassured that I could walk-away within 30 days without paying anything if it wasn't for me... I just don't understand how someone could do this to another person. It's so wrong.

I started at Pinnacle back 2010. I was 290 pounds and unhappy with myself, and decided to make a change for the better of my health, and confidence. When I walked into their gym I was greeted by Daniel. He was very friendly, made me feel welcome, and helped me get rid of any pre-training butterflies. I showed up the next day for my first class scared witless, because I had never done anything like this before. After being introduced to the Instructor, and his welcoming attitude, I began to warm up to the atmosphere of training in a martial art for the first time.
The actual class was pretty intense, and the instruction was very detailed and precise. I was pushed to my limits the first day, and left pretty tired. I was sore the next day, but it lit a fire in me I never had before. I went from training twice a day at 290lbs to 7 days a week and reached a healthy 165lbs in about a year and a half.

Rebekah and Daniel really made me feel welcome and at home at the facility. As well as their instructors, they also promoted confidence and the motivation I needed to reach the level I am at today. Upper belt students were just as welcoming and helpful. I can't tell you how many times I pulled an upper belt aside and asked questions or for help with technique, and they gladly helped to the point they answered your question, and showed you more than you asked.

I have followed this team and facility for close to 8 years, and along the way, I've seen students come and go for whatever reason, but not once have I ever felt pressured, bullied, scammed or any of the things I have read in some of these reviews. I even at one time had financial issues, and they worked with me through them honestly, and fairly. I've watched over the years Rebekah and Daniel bust a$$ day in and day out to reach success, and all the while maintain one of the best, and if not the best jiu-jitsu school in San Antonio TX. They provide you the tools to become a champion and a black belt in brazilian jiu jitsu. It's up to you to make the commitment to the art. Like great artwork or real quality professional services, you get what you pay for. That's what you get at Pinnacle Martial Arts, top quality training and instruction, with clear, fair and simple membership options.

Pinnacle's system for intro students is perfect for first timers, simply because I've seen what happens to intro students, when they get thrown to the sharks without any wherewithal for the art. It scares them into not wanting to comeback or breaks their confidence. With Pinnacle's system you are introduced to the gentle art in such a way you feel confident and hungry for more, because you aren't put in that "deer in headlights" situation. The instructors take their time with you, and spread the knowledge evenly. You grow with your classmates, you become family with them. You go through ups and downs with them, they are there to pick you up when you fall, and when you are ready to, you advance with them to the next level.

Two years ago I moved away to Austin and couldn't train any longer at Pinnacle. I tried another school in Austin, and while it was a great school, it wasn't Pinnacle, it wasn't family. Pinnacle had such an impact on me and my life, that I decided to drive every weekend to San Antonio just to train with them, and the days I couldn't make it I would get at least two or three private messages via social media saying we missed you today hope to see you soon. That's a great feeling, and a perfect example of how much these individuals care about their members.

So if you truly want to experience the life changing effects brazilian jiu jitsu has to offer, and receive it from a honest and dedicated staff. Please look no further than Pinnacle Martial Arts. You will not be disappointed.

The coaches are superb. The training is flawless. I was a member that wanted to compete so I would've been invovled in the gym for years. After signing a one year contract with them got injured 6 months into training so i did not attend practice for the last half of my contract. Knowing i signed a contract i payed my payments "some of them were late" but i payed what i owned up until my contract ended. My problem was after the contract they took an unauthorized payed of 168 out of my account in March after my contract had ended in February, and i had not even been to training since i got injured. They said they couldn't refund my unauthorized payment because of a technicallity. Basically I was robbed of 168.00. I am now with anther MMA gym and a certain someome told me no ligit gym will make their member sign contracts.

My 7 year old daughter has been training at Pinnacle for 1 year (we just renewed our contract for 2 more years) and it was the best thing to happen to her! She was very shy and timid when she started but this has boosted her confidence in so many ways and especially has disciplined her. Coach Matt and Jordan are great, and the owners Rebekah and Daniel are so involved with the clients it feels like friends and family rather than just business contacts. If you are looking for a place to put your child to learn discipline, confidence & utmost respect Pinnacle is the place.

Great motivating studio. Great workouts. I love this place. I had to start from the beginning but slow and steady wins the race! Would recommend to any and all my friends!

Pinnacle is a great place with great people! What other way to get in shape then to learn to defend yourself in a cruel world. Best part is they have kids lessons too! So you can make it a family thing! I know I love it! And the staff is as real as they come!

Awesome place to come and learn! As long as you do your part they do theirs! I have excelled since training with the Pinnacle familia!! I would recommend pinnacle martial arts to everyone big or small!

Each time I come in, I notice more and more faces that start to become more like family. The training is outstanding, and the sense of community between members, athletes and staff is inspiring!
My only regret was that I didn't find Pinnacle sooner.. Oss

Literally went to once class after paying 250 dollars that was taken out a month before it was supposed to and all they said was sorry for the inconvenience we can give you an extra month. The contract clearly stated and the guy Jose in the front told me ANYTIME during the first 18 days if anything I didn't like I could cancel my contract and that they pride themselves over not making people stay with them. I've trained at several gyms never have a heard an instructor yell at people on their first day trying the class and basically encourage them to get their money back and quit. You heard that right I paid 250 dollars for one class told them it wasn't for me and for the past 7 months I've been getting calls and emails from collection agencies. Even though I never got my 30 free days plus my 18 free days for signing up. They want me to pay another $500 for attending one day of class witch was supposed to be free. The contract clearly stated they was supposed to take my first payment several weeks after they did which put me in a bind financially. As far as the training it was okay but as far as the business side it was pure BS. I can't believe a company would have the nerve to get almo 1000 dollars from me going to one class. I told them that I had a crushed foot 9 months prior and that might cause me to reconsider my contact so the 30 days plus 18 was good to see if I can make it. He clearly told me that all I have to do was stop in that time and everything would be okay. It wasn't!!!!

IN RESPONSE TO THE CLAIMING PINNACLE MMA BJJ OWNER You called me a racist..Ok ? THAT CUTS DEEP BROTHER I'm half Colombian and Half Danish raised as a Colombian. Yes Spanish was my first language. I am first generation American from my Mothers side. My wife is Cuban she is a mix of French, African and Spanish...How am I racist again ?... Why would you go there because I look white ?.. I sure as heck never said or inferred anything racist at any point .. Take a moment and imagine my own struggles.. Your a classic example of being judged.. If I came with my wife speaking Spanish as a Colombian would you still call me racist ? When your mixed but only favor one side in appearance but still want to identify with both how much lower can you get then being called a racist ? I have nothing more to add about the rest of the trash you posted except I'm father and if I heard rumors about a rape I will ask... And you handled that very poorly..

The instructors and students are no doubt a wonderful and talented group of individuals. The problem lacks with the how their business is conducted and how they price gouge what they offer. The person in charge of obtaining new students/forming new contracts is solely in the business of profit and not truly interested in spreading the knowledge and gift of Jiu Jitsu. In a more common Martial Arts Academy the focus is on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and not price gouging timid, new students. Usually gyms are run by the instructors themselves and simply wish to cultivate a family of martial artists. Pinnacle Martial Arts will enroll you in "Introductory" classes (all white belt beginners), separating you from half the class, and further delaying your development until you feel confident enough to train with the real practitioners of the academy, and then they will again try to price gouge you! I hope that in the future they stop trapping people into these ludicrous price gouging contracts and focus on martial arts.

I've been searching the area for a place for my 5 yr old son to train. I wanted something close to home, but most importantly, I wanted it to be somewhere that was really going to help with his focus issues. I checked out a few different schools before finding Pinnacle. The first clue that this place was probably going to be different, is when they asked me, "what do you want your son to achieve through our program". No one had asked me that yet. I realized that they wanted to help us achieve real results. So we decided to give it a try. 5 months later, I am so pleased. My sons teacher told me that she didn't think he was going to pass K5 because he couldnt focus, but now she says he is doing amazing and really surprised by the progress we have made. I owe it all to Pinnacle. Thank you for being more than a gym, thank you for being a place where people can grow and become better!
