Winter volleyball has been well-organized and inclusive of all skill levels for our 10 yr old daughter. The program is family-oriented.
This is such a great YMCA! My children love the daycare teachers and children who regularly come here! The staff are very kind and helpful. We love it here! You will too!
The place is always clean. Friendly and helpful staff, and a great variety of classes, as well as a rock climbing wall and a huge room full of exercise equipment. There's always something fun to do with the whole family.
The baseball summer camp was fun for my son.
The summer programs for my 4 year old have been fantastic and given some structure to her summer. Swim lessons were convenient and she loved going and being challenged to try new things simply by other kids in her class doing tasks she may have been reluctant to do on her own. The staff was responsive to my questions and concerns about where she was initially placed due to her age, and she was able to move to the next group which was much more engaging for her. She has also participated in Spanish Explorers, Tiny Tumblers and Tiny Tinkers. She enjoys the teachers and the friends she has made in each class.

Friendly and helpful staff. We've been involved off and on for a number of years as members, in swim lessons, and most recently, in soccer. The child care center is well-organized, and my kids loved it when they were young. Thinking about soccer, I love the parents' pledge before the games. It's a great reminder to focus on sportsmanship and learning how to play the game, rather than focusing on competition and winning. I love that the other team's coach from our last game cheered for our team's goals as well as for his team. Great learning environment.

First of all, your sports managers and staff are great! And second you offer help to those who can not afford to pay for soccer. It really means a lot to our family to be able to play sports in a safe environment. My children have so much fun with their new friends and look forward to practice and game days! We love the YMCA and are very grateful :-)

Great coaches and staff. We love it
So far so good. The staff have been really nice and friendly. They helped my kids on the rock wall. The facilities are clean and updated. Price is great as well.
Facility was nice. And as I talk to the coordinator who was helping me name (Lauren) I had explained to her that it was a bit pricey for me at the moment and I only want to try it out for the month!! she agreed with me completely at the time. Due to the times available for daycare they were just not a match for my schedule. I had called and confirmed with somebody over the phone that I would not be going again. I only went the one time.... repeat I only went one time !! and paid for the month... ((I was convinced that I would not be on a monthly withdrawal on the time of signing up!! )) or I would have not done so ! here it is March and I just received a bank statement saying that they had charged me the last 2 months as well. called to try and talk to somebody about it, it ends up that it is only my loss so I am now out $160 ! I went to summer camp here for the first few weeks of summer. Terrible. The staff were really rude and they don't even care about the safety of their kids. We went biking one day, and they didn't even have us wear helmets which is a big safety hazard. I ended up getting into a biking accident and my mom took me out immediately.
My wife and I have been going to the gym here for months now and it is one of most well maintained clean gyms you will find in town. It is small but they have all the equipment I need. The day care for babies (

Love the gym and pool. The bike trails are nice for me and my son as well.
Attention attention will the director please stand up! We parents pay way too much money for you to neglect plus all the donations handed to the YMCA! We understand that the facade of the building and entrance has be eye pleasing etc. But in the back where a lot of the action and activities happen is just way too neglected. On the weekends there are many activities and very few places to park I've included a picture of a tree that is taken 3 parking spaces! I see you guys hire teenagers so cheap labor is a must for this racket. So my complaints are cut and trim back trees and anything else blocking parking spaces. The restrictions toilet has know seats or toilet paper. And I don't even want to speak of the restroom filth no paper etc. Go ahead and leave the cheap labor and non of this stuff gets fixed.
Outdoors! My children attended several camps over the summer as well as visits with grandparents but wit little time outside. Sure it's hot, but not all day! Ymca did a good job at keeping the kids safe. Before the week started they were whining about the idea of being outside all day. By the end of the week they didn't want to leave.
Is the second time we use ymsa services, the first time I pay for swimming classes for my daughter and basketball for my son in the summer, when the swimming classes began the teens that I do not think they were qualified to teach, they shouted to the children and I only went to two classes and decided not to return.
Basketball classes never started because they did not find anyone to give the classes to the children, then I find out that they are volunteers and are not professional couch, when I put a claim to get my money back because they failed, they said I would be returned to my card and only returned 50% of what I had paid
Now we wanted to deal with the gym we have a week and today we were training my 15 year old son and I when one of the people who works there arrives and tells us that my son can not use the appliances until we take an orientation and he asked us to go to have an appointment and my question is because better not give us the orientation before paying to see if we like it or not ?? The staff are very unfriendly
The open swim is ridicules. Never in the morning. Always closed for swim lessons. Even in the afternoon some days only from 1pm to 3;45. Than close for camp swimming etc. There is only very few hours where you can actually swim. So if you are not off work between 1pm and 3 pm you are out of luck. I pay to much to not even be able to use the pool. Swimming lessons for kids is great. But they do not have to be every single morning. I will be leaving this Y.

Today, August 28th 2017 our daughter was suppose to start her first day at Pre-School camp. My wife arrived with other parents waiting to dropped their kid off. All of the parents were extremely upset to find out that YMCA at O.P. Schnabel Park change the schedule last minute and had all invalid excuses for them. Here the excuses below:
Keep in mind that the Pre-School camp is following Northside ISD calendar for San Antonio, TX
"Northside ISD change their schedule so we changed our schedule to match theirs". - - This is false because my sons both who attend Northside ISD schools went to school for their first day.
"An email was sent to the parents regarding the change of the first day of Pre-School camp". - - This is another lie, I didn't received any email from YMCA. If their was a change wouldn't they post it in the main entrance as well?
"The date was changed because we felt like it would be an inconvenience for the parents dealing with the first day of school for Northside ISD" - - Just another excuse in trying to justify the poor customer ethic that YMCA at O.P. Schnabel Park has.
This one of the biggest mistake that YMCA at O.P. Schnabel Park has made and to assume that parents has nothing better to do is selfish. I guarantee the schedule was changed and they felt like the parents can just "deal with it". This is the same location in which my daughter broke her toe while under their care during parents night out earlier this year. What the world happen to this location?
