I am a former member of Fitness19 San Antonio. Back in February, the club closed it's doors on very short notice. I was not happy about it and did not want to continue my membership w/Golds Gym. So on March 18th, I went into the Golds Gym location and signed a cancellation form to cancel the membership w/Fitness 19/Golds Gym. My membership was not cancelled and for the next 4 months, I was billed for a membership for a health club that I never signed up for and never once used. To my understanding, the account was not cancelled due to Golds Gym having my name misspelled in their system and not being able to locate my information. The 9 years I was a member at Fitness 19, I did not have any issues with my contact information.
So after multiple emails and phone calls with one manager, Isabella, the account was finally cancelled the beginning of July. I was then passed along to another manager Dannah, who has advised me that I owe the gym $11.00 for membership fees assessed almost a month after the date I signed the cancellation form. She also advised me that Golds Gym is going to refund me a $20.00 late fee. To this day, I still don't understand how I owe a late fee when I cancelled the account. I owe Gold's $11.00 yet, they are going to refund me $20.00 which is some sort of late fee for an account I cancelled. This makes absolutely no sense to me. I also reached out to a different location and was in contact with a manager Lana. The day I spoke to her, she was more than willing to assist. me. To date, she has not contacted me, replied back to any of the emails sent and the one evening I called requesting to speak with her, I was told she was in a meeting and would call me back, then the person hung up on me. I called back to have the phone ring continuously so I dropped the call.
In one of my last emails to Dannah, I suggested that they apply the credit towards this fee so I can move on. I was advised she is waiting on her office to handle the issue. It has been 2 weeks and nothing. She did not respond back to my email I sent today and I called this evening to find she was gone for the day. I have spent so much time, energy trying to resolve this. My concern is Golds Gym is going to send my information to a collection agency. I hope by writing in maybe someone will take the time to make this right. I am going to contact as many locations as I can in hopes to find someone at the Golds Gym franchise who will actually take the time and help assist me, maybe even escalate this to a corporate office so this can be resolved.
