Very nice staff. The gym looks decent. It is an older gym and bit equipment is up to date, the pool area is small but you really do not need a huge pool to exercise.

This gold is wonderful! The women's fitness room is located right next to the women's locker room and it is stocked with more equipment than other locations I have been to. The women's locker room is stocked with q-tips, razors, mouthwash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, spray deoderant, hair spray, and hair dryers. They also check out towels.

This location is also much cleaner than I have seen at other locations. Even more clean than the location on the other side of Bandera. This was my first experience with this particular Gold's location. I have to say I am impressed.

The reception staff are pleasant and encouraging. The equipment up to date. There are sanitizer and wipes so you can clean your equipment before and after using. Bathrooms and showers and locker rooms are clean and well stocked.

Not a bad gym, but it does have potential. I love that there is a ladies workout room, however I feel like the equipment is outdated. It reminds me of the workout equipment back in the 80's, even though I was born in the 90's. All of the other equipment outside is great. They also have an indoor pool which comes in handy during the winter time.

I am a former member of Fitness19 San Antonio. Back in February, the club closed it's doors on very short notice. I was not happy about it and did not want to continue my membership w/Golds Gym. So on March 18th, I went into the Golds Gym location and signed a cancellation form to cancel the membership w/Fitness 19/Golds Gym. My membership was not cancelled and for the next 4 months, I was billed for a membership for a health club that I never signed up for and never once used. To my understanding, the account was not cancelled due to Golds Gym having my name misspelled in their system and not being able to locate my information. The 9 years I was a member at Fitness 19, I did not have any issues with my contact information.

So after multiple emails and phone calls with one manager, Isabella, the account was finally cancelled the beginning of July. I was then passed along to another manager Dannah, who has advised me that I owe the gym $11.00 for membership fees assessed almost a month after the date I signed the cancellation form. She also advised me that Golds Gym is going to refund me a $20.00 late fee. To this day, I still don't understand how I owe a late fee when I cancelled the account. I owe Gold's $11.00 yet, they are going to refund me $20.00 which is some sort of late fee for an account I cancelled. This makes absolutely no sense to me. I also reached out to a different location and was in contact with a manager Lana. The day I spoke to her, she was more than willing to assist. me. To date, she has not contacted me, replied back to any of the emails sent and the one evening I called requesting to speak with her, I was told she was in a meeting and would call me back, then the person hung up on me. I called back to have the phone ring continuously so I dropped the call.

In one of my last emails to Dannah, I suggested that they apply the credit towards this fee so I can move on. I was advised she is waiting on her office to handle the issue. It has been 2 weeks and nothing. She did not respond back to my email I sent today and I called this evening to find she was gone for the day. I have spent so much time, energy trying to resolve this. My concern is Golds Gym is going to send my information to a collection agency. I hope by writing in maybe someone will take the time to make this right. I am going to contact as many locations as I can in hopes to find someone at the Golds Gym franchise who will actually take the time and help assist me, maybe even escalate this to a corporate office so this can be resolved.

My husband and I have belonged to this gym for years and the condition of this gym continues to get worse. The machines are constantly out of service or not working. The headphones jack to the TVs only works on a handful of machines. The yoga mats in the studio badly need to be replaced because they are all torn up. The women's workout area is barely cool to warm all the time. There are no towelettes or hand sanitizer in the women's workout area to clean the machines or your hands after a workout. The dispensers are out and one dispenser has been removed. And there are no tissues in the women's locker room. The inside of the gym needs repainting and the carpet replaced. Currently, there is grey tape that runs across the entire length of the carpet because of a long tear. These problems have been going on for many months and they are not being addressed.

The local gym I frequented closed and they transferred the account to this Golds Gym. I went in to see if I liked the place and found that I didn't care for it. I spoke with a worker at the front desk about cancelling my membership and was told (lied to) that if I didn't sign a membership with them then I wouldn't be activated as a member. Ok no problem. Fast forward a month and I'm receiving Golds Gym charges on my card. I call and I'm told I must come in to the gym to cancel and that no refund would be given as I never cancelled my account. I explained what the staff had told me and they explained to me that the staff member didn't know the process and that it was my responsibility. That's some interesting logic. I go in to cancel and am still receiving charges to my account. Avoid this place. It's a complete scam.
Update: Four months later and they're still charging me.

I was a member of Fitness 19 until they closed and transferred every member's info to Gold's Gym for 3 months. I was told I'd only be charged the amount of my membership from my original gym and I was only going to stay the 3 months because I've never been interested in any Gold's Gym locations. Mid March I look at my bank account to see they've taken out an extra charged of $42 and was told it was my annual fee. I had just signed up at Fitness 19 in December and then given an annual fee after 3 months? Doesn't make sense when they closed and I was not going to be contributing any more than I had to to Gold's Gym company. Where was all my money going? I spoke with an employee who said I could cancel but would not get a refund and that I would be billed one more time. I canceled then spoke with the manager and she said she would take off the upcoming charge but said nothing about my annual fee. I disputed it with my wonderful bank and they were able to get me my money back, even got me a new card. Yesterday I was charged another fee for this month when I haven't been to Gold's since the first week of March. Please don't join this company. I've worked at a gym before so I'm aware of how employees and a manager should act towards it's members.

Update:
I canceled over 3 months ago and apparently I'm in debt with Gold's over $130. I even spoke to the manager and sent her proof that I had canceled. Y'all should really get some new employees that know how to do their job.

Signed up and took a tour, nice. They have so much to offer. I can't wait to start working out again.

I like this gym, now the equipment maybe a dit dated, but I would rather deal with that then standing in line waiting on equipment. So what I like about this gym and for me the most important is that there's not a lot of people, so I can go in do what I gotta do and leave, the newer gyms are nice and have new equipment but ill be waiting for up to 15 - 30 min for a machine. If im doing cardio I will go to the new golds and if im weight training ill go to the less packed golds. The other plus for me is the steam room, most people dont know but the steam room is better for you over the sause and it does the same as the sauna but at a faster rate. So 30min in the sauna is 15 in the steam room, shorter time get things done, not packed and less weight time...those are the highlights at this golds and lets not forget the people that work at this golds, they are very helpful and I like that. So I hope this helps

Lots of the equipment is old as compared to other local gyms and some is not completely functional. Having just moved over to this Gold's Gym, it appears that there is never sanitizing liquid to wipe down the sweaty equipment.

I have been injured TWICE on the SAME type of malfunctioning machine at this Gym. The first time they were peetty cool and helpful, the second time the manager Stephanie I belive was short and cold with me as if it were my fault she hadnt done her job. The repair guy was also a little cold.

Very friendly staff, clean gym. 100% recommend. Excellent place

I am so frustrated with this gym. They never have enough staff to cover child care. I have gone over three Saturdays in a row to workout with my kids and end up waiting for over an hour because they only have 2 workers in childcare. The elderly women who works in daycare is rude and mean to the kids. You would think this gym would care about providing enough people to cover childcare so that their costumers could workout and would hire people who liked kids. If your a parent and want to workout Saturday morning avoid this gym cause you probably will end up waiting at least 30 min.

Do not sign up for ANY Gold's Gym, after cancelling our account, following their little guidelines, and being assured we were doing things correctly. We continued to be billed to our account, after several complaints and speaking with a Manager we had our money finally refunded, however are now getting a bill collection in the mail saying we owe money.

Do yourselves a favor and find another gym with better business practices.

Nice clean gym, but desperatly needs new weight equipment

October 19, 2017 14:37

The gym is filthy. The locker rooms are far from sanitary. I decided to cancel my membership and move to a cleaner gym. That was in November. They refuse to process my cancellation. They hang up on me when I call. I have submitted the cancellation forms, yet they won't process. DO NOT USE THIS GYM! I have been fighting to cancel this membership for months now.

For the most part, the place isn't crowded, but you can never find weights. People walk around completely barefooted, socialize on the equipment, and hoard weights (I saw a girl with 6 dumbbells at her feet). Staff is unfazed by the kids running around and weights being thrown around.

October 19, 2017 14:37

Managers do not know what customer service is all about. Do not return calls. Losing customers. Where I work at least 5 people or more use this location. All are talking about closing memberships. Dirty. Sanitizer wipes are never filled. Gym equipment remains broken and have seen two people use it and almost get hurt. Staff has a do not care attitude like we the customers owe them something. Recommend L.A. Fitness!!!

Only go to this gym if you want everything to always be down. Been here a little over a year and the past 8 months have gone down hill. Dry sauna is always down even after the 2 weeks it was down for "maintenance". Plus now it's a "gold" level so now you have to beg for towels if your ruby. It used to be a great gym but not anymore. If it wasn't for the childcare here I would have already left. The employees in the child care are awesome. I was told to fill out a complaint if I was unhappy. The complaint paper is a receipt. Literally. Save your money and pick a different gym.

I am so disappointed with the Gold's gym at Bandera Pointe. A couple weeks ago i got into the hot tub and it smelled very strong and some of my body parts started to have a burning sensation. I got out and rinsed out. When to the counter and informed Andrew and he said a customer had already complained abouts it. I asked him why hadnt he put a sign for people not to get in and he said he was alone because it was a sunday and didnt have time. The next day called Stephanie and explained to her what happened and she said she would talk to management and she never called, i called again and spoke to Vanessa general manager and told her the story she also said she would call and never did. I had a reaction to the chemicals due to the high quantity they put which Vanessa informed me. I have pictures of my skin showing it. Im very upset and will definitively cancel my membetship!!
