I believe that as long as you KNOW the fees & charges around your membership, this is one of the better gym systems in the area. Sometimes it can be EXTREMELY crowded during nights and weekends. Just weigh that factor into things, before you decide to join. The classes are fun and well done. Sometimes the equipment can be dirty, but that is what happens when lots of people use the equipment all day long, everyday. Just keep these factors in mind.

Awesome facility. Clean, neat and organized with a staff that is readily available to assist. Machines and Mirrors are always clean. #pumpthemguns #TakeItToTheGym #ISurvivedMe #gymrat

I had a membership here for about 7 months. All of the locations are really well equipped for just about any regiment. The machines and floor are always clean, the staff is helpful and friendly. The only reason I cancelled my membership is because I work 2-3 jobs and need something that's open for 24 hours until I have better hours. My only complaints are that they close too early on weekends and that I wish all the gyms had punching bags for all members to use.

That's me nitpicking.

Seriously.

For what you pay month, you get a gym that gives it's bigger, older competition a run for it's money. I hope they keep growing and that I can come back to them soon.

Much brighter facility than the one in Plano. Like the other facility, there are plenty of machines and free weights for a good workout. Here they also have 2 squat racks and Smith machines for your squatting needs with dumbbells here goes up to 120 lbs. They have a nice play area for kids with slides to keep them occupied if you have children. So far everything about Texas Family Fitness seems positive. I will update this review if things change.

My daughter tell me her trainer say is not certified. I am glad we do not buy training when she try to force. She want to lose weights so we pay for her member there because is close to her schooling not because member price. But that is why is cheap?

Do not go to this gym.

I've been a member at this location since 2006, and ever since Texas Family Fitness took over the space, the gym has been in a steady decline. They took away useful racks used by everyone when they first took over the place. They don't tighten dumbbells, replace weights, and fix machines in a timely manor. This is especially concerning when you're having to use a loose dumbbell over your head. At one point, the preacher curl bench was broken for 3 to 4 months, and right now one of the dumbbells that was stolen several months ago has still not been replaced. Most of the members do not re rack their weights, and the gym does not enforce it or have someone to re rack the weights for people. Because of this, the gym is a constant mess with weights sitting everywhere all over the floor and stacked mismatched on top of one another.

The biggest problem, though, is the way they control their AC. They keep the front of the gym constantly cool while all of the units on the weight floor to the locker rooms are on a rotation schedule meaning the weight floor often times feels like a sauna and has no circulation making it hard to breath. People who work out there bring up this problem constantly. I'm told by a handful of people who work the front desk that they get multiple complaints about it a day, but the managing staff will not do a thing about it. When I bring it up with the managing staff, I keep getting told different stories about the problem to diffuse the situation, but really they just don't want to address it and get oddly defensive. This has been going on for about 3 months.

I'm currently shopping for a new membership at another gym, and I fully encourage anyone who is considering Texas Family Fitness or currently works out there to do the same.

Decent equipment at this gym, however the weight and machine areas are very dirty. Also, if you decide to sign up be prepared for some of the pushiest sales people. They'll waste an hour of your life trying to up sell you because they care so much about your well being HA.

Sales will sign you up for unnecessary email newsletters - unsubscribing via their link doesn't work either, just block them. A lot of hassle for a gym membership. On a positive note, their bathrooms look recently renovated.

I'll think about coming back when they start to exercise some basic sanitation. Until then, I'll be taking my workouts to LA Fitness.

The rep continued to push to sign me on as a member. The lead in charge of personal training had no idea what celiacs disease was. I was told my current membership at my other gym would not give me results. I was told another rep from a different location was a "snake." Overall, i did not have a pleasant experience. Even the facility in Town Center was horrible. Customer service lacks. I decided to even opt out of my 30 day pass just from this one time experience. Be cautious where you sign on, do your research, and always do what is best for you.

I was all sent to re-join and Alejandro the manager said he could not email a contract to me (to read ahead of signing). What kind of business would not provide a contract to someone to read prior to signing???
Alejandro needs to go to business school 101 and the management that hired him should have screened him better. I joined another fitness club close by.

It's cheap. That's it's best selling point. I'm paying $9 a month for access to a pretty basic facility, and it's not worth more than that. Much of the equipment is worn out, or broken, but still operational enough to deal with it.

The showers are a mess. Sometimes there's no hot water, or no soap. And today it was extremely bad. The shower area has had mud on the floor, lose bandages, and razor blades, pubic hairs stick to the wall since yesterday, and no one is bothering to clean it. I requested that someone service the showers, and the clerk argued with me. I asked him that I wasn't trying to cause trouble, but there's been 24 hours to clean it, and I think someone should attend to it. He said he'd get someone on it and then just stared at me. He didn't page anyone, or tell a manager or anything... He just stared at me. So, I've been waiting here in the locker room for someone to come clean it for the last 15 minutes, and no one has come.

I just want to take my shower after my workout. But I wouldn't bathe a pig in this mess.

*** Update ***
To their credit, they've recently started maintaining the restrooms and showers again. They're never what I'd call clean, but they're not filthy anymore either. I suppose that's as good as it's going to get.

Dont trust them on the personal trainer. I initially subscribed for 3 months. As the 3 months was ending they said they can renew for another 3 by paying lump sum, which I did. But they never stopped the auto payment and I was charged for the next 3 months. It was like paying double. When I called customer care, they did not even acknowledge it was a mistake on their part. Now even when I cancelled, they have still not stopped the auto payment for the monthly subscription. Just goes to show how irresponsible they are and they take advantage of people's forgetfulness. I recommend don't take a personal trainer.

This gym is reasonably priced, has tons of equipment, group fitness classes, high quality trainers, great clientele, and everything is in good working order. I left a high tier gym and went to Texas Family Fitness and have zero regrets. If was open 24 hours it would be absolutely perfect.

It has both pros and cons.
Pros: The membership is affordable, the gym is close by and they have many locations, all their various classes are included in the membership (like zumba, yoga, pilates, etc.), they have lots of ellipticals, treadmills, weight machines.

Cons: They say they waive the enrollment fees and just tell you about the monthly payment. But in the Agreement, they sneak in Renewal charge. So, read the fine print.
When I signed up, I used my Amex card but later when that got replaced by Citi (Costco), the gym coolly charged me $27 for no reason! That was sneaky, too!

They Keep Upselling You...and dont even get me started on the billing games.
Their groupX classes are going down hill. A few good instructors leaving and there are more about to move on. No liking the GrpX calendar. Hardly any cycle classes in the evening.

Need to get UJam class...Thats such a good workout format.

I might give it a month or two and if things don't improve might cancel my membership.

Rude Management!!!!! Alexandro was extremely rude to me. Front desk staff was polite but not anything special. Everyone working their is out of shape....Which shows me how little they care about themselves or representing there gym. Waste of time coming here. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. This should not even be on your gyms to look at list...if I could give it a zero I would.

This is the location that replaced another a few years ago. Working out with my wife is fun and love to have our time together. Not a fancy place but seems affordable.

January 21, 2018 20:21

Saturday morning my wife went to Zumba class which was over packed, she couldn't stand it for 20 minutes, and when she informed the reception agent of this matter, she just replied back saying " I can't kick people out of the class". This is unprofessional treatment, when a client comes with a problem, a solution should be suggested, otherwise the client will seek better service in other place, which exactly why me and my wife are cancelling our membership.

January 12, 2018 17:40

Came in to ask about classes and prices.
Spoke to John who was very nice and informative but I guess it through him off I didn't sign up right there and then so he introduced me to the a manager name Alejandro that started grilling me about when am I going to sign up. So I just left...ugh

I had a membership with a place called Impact Fitness in Valley Ranch. They closed down almost overnight around October of 2016 so I just started going to a new fitness center. I later realized that they were still charging me for the membership even though the place was no longer in business. I tried calling but that didn't work.

I started investigating the charge and found that it belongs to a Texas Family Fitness. I called to stop the charge and they said that I can't stop the charge unless I go down to one of their locations and do it in person but I can't do that since I moved to Chicago last year. They gave me the runaround and eventually, they gave me their corporate office number so that I can call and get that resolved but they said the same thing and if I can't do it in person then I will have to do it with a mailed letter.

I was charged for over a year for a gym that was closed down and their explanation was that "Texas Family Fitness" had bought the members when they closed down!!!!

Eventually, they agreed to cancel payments over the phone which only shows you that they just want to make it impossible for you to cancel and keep charging you their fees.

I will be reporting them to the Better Business Beru of course and I will be filing a case with the local small claims because I was not notified for any of this and according to my agreement, my contract ended in May 2016.

Anyhow, I wonder how many people had to waste many hours of their life trying to figure this out and stop payment and how much money they lost in the process.

No frills gym. For the money, you can't beat it. I was looking for a new gym and went to some of the big gyms and was appalled at their pricing. All I needed was some cardio equipment and weights. I also wanted a couple of personal training sessions to kick start the new work out routine. Big gym? $200 initiation, $30/month, outrageous personal training. TFF? Low monthly rate, small annual fee, reasonable training rates and they waived the sign up fee!

I've been going to this gym religiously for almost 5 yrs now. I go in the mornings so I don't have to deal with the crowds in the evenings. Machines and free weights are clean and accessible. Every now and then some equipment are getting some "maintenance" done but that is expected for the amount of use/abuse it goes through daily. Overall, it's spacious, clean, and the early gym regulars are sociable and clean.

Worst service ever. I had Texas family fitness for about 3 months before I had to cancel 4 days ago. I had spoken to a gentleman and he had offered to sign me up for the boxing classes. I refused the classes because $79.99 extra was ridiculous since I could get the same at an actual boxing gym with retired boxers. I explicitly said NO I did not want the service and it was out of my price range. The gentleman said okay and we started signing things off just for the basic membership he would tell me x signature is for the basic and the other is for the billing etc. Never once was I told that I was signing up for the boxing membership I did NOT want. I also asked for a copy of the contract and he said he would email it to me. When I came back to complain the young lady rudely dismissed me and said I had signed up at another gym and she could NOT help me and that the extra $79.99 membership was just the yearly fee which is an additional $69.99 and that I was wrong. Then I asked her to check again and lo and behold the guy had made me sign for the boxing membership and lied. When I confronted him it turns out he signed me up under some random persons name and they didn't even know who it was to begin with. Turns out another woman the exact same day came in to cancel for the exact same issue. They signed her up without her knowledge and they billed her the $79.99. The overall gym isn't horrible but their billing practices are. They tell you its 10 monthly but they forget to include that they also bill you a couple times yearly for $69.99 which in total monthly you'd end up paying $21 anyway when you can just go to 24 hour fitness and they can even offer cheaper rates without hidden fees or lying. I am planning to take these scam artists to small claims court for lying and stealing money.

I've gone to this place on and off since high school, and I'm not sure why I ever came back. I went in to get a membership for the summer and they were not clear with payments, would not accept a guest pass for a friend that they gave me, and have ripped me off one too many times.

The manager mentioned it cost $5 to freeze the account, so that I could go back to school and unfreeze it over the break, however now they are telling me it cost $5 a month every month until I return.

I canceled my membership and will find a place that cares about their customers.
