Forcing patrons to use hand sanitizer on their hands and their gloves. Yet people are hugging each other and not wiping down equipment.
Great gym and low price for membership
I have had repeated issues with this gym. Most recently I canceled my training contract, which they acknowledge, but they have continued to charge me. Now they don't want to refund the amount they acknowledge that they charged me incorrectly. I have already talked to them three times about this and can't get anywhere. There is no contact number available to contact their corporate office to dispute the charges so you are left at the mercy of their employees whim.
I had a very poor experience with Trufit and i caution those who signup for a membership. I signed up several months back to better my health. A few months in i ended up getting sick and fail to go in. Once healthy i ended having to travel alot for work which prevented menfrom going. I ended trying to cancel my membership several times over the phone with no avail. Since then i have been harassed with phone calls and now emails from collection agencies in regards to my month to month membership which i tried canceling several times. Very poor experience and i dont ever plan on joining this gym again.
Pretty legit gym! Just needs a resting/social area.
I'm not sure if it's the transition from Freedom Fitness but both the atmosphere and customer service has declined immensely. It's been extremely dirty as well (bathrooms and weight rooms). You hear comments from other members and staff about the recent change and it's not always good. It's a poor reflection when you have that kind of feedback from your own staff. Also don't forget your membership card. My spouse about got accosted by an aggresive higher up asking him to show it even after being let pass by a staff member once he verified our account. It's a new rule which we have no problem with but they should take into account that maybe not everyone is aware of it. We left right after. Pretty insane. I hope it corrects itself soon or we'll have to find a new fitness home, sadly.
so far so good now that it is a trufit it is so much cleaner and well maintained.
A very appalling experience since I approached the male receptionist. Visiting family I had the pleasure to be in the RGV for a week. A veteran I NEED to get my pump on religiously to live a full life. My request was simple, my gym is not in the Valley (24 hr fitness and Orange Theory from MAVS make a veteran sweat) so I need a week to get my pump on and do not desire a 3rd membership. He basically said if you don't a membership bye despite the fact that I was here for a week. I walked across the entrance to there sales department . Two ladies were having a conversation so I approached a salesman tjat appeared to have an uneventful momemt. He was nice and was going to give me a 3 day pass due to my particular circumstance. Then both ladies interupted with a "Sir...Sir it does not work like that". The other salesman looked lost and like that was news to them. I confirmed I will leave this review and they did not care.
I drove to Golds Gyn and paid a reasonable price for a weeks pass. It is AWESOME (Golds Gym that is). It's full of hot people and the outside pool is fantastic to relax and strech after a nice pump. As a veteran I advise all like me to steer clear from this facility and pursue another gym. I hope my experience helps reach a valid conclusion.

Get rid of some of the Smith machines and replace them with squat racks. Its absurd that you only have 1 squat rack.
Great place! I've been there since I've moved to McAllen.

I like the place, some Tvs on the eliptical don't work but that just takes time. I did have an issue with my vehicle getting tagged for parking in handicap spot. I am a retired veteran with 20 years service. I have Disabled Veteran plates which are authorized for handicap parking and was surprised that the management did not recognize it. The girl was sent out to tag vehicles and should of been trained on the situation. Management responsibility not the young girls fault. She just followed orders. Overall good place.
Great place, great ambient, just they need to improve the customer service a little bit, but in general everything is good enough to have a good work out. Kind of old machines but working good.
Got sucked into a premium membership and am not happy with it. I opted for the premium membership because at the time, on the website, there were all different kinds of group classes listed that I was interested in. When I went to this location to sign up, turns out they only offer about 3-4 types of classes, and they didn't offer any of the others I saw online. So that sucked. I was seriously considering getting a basic membership but IMO Oscar is a really pushy salesman. He kept praising all of the extra amenities, and on paper it looks nice, but in reality the only practical ones are bringing a guest, the daycare, and the group classes. Group classes didn't work out for me- poor selection. From the other reviews I've read, the daycare is not very accommodating, and only getting to bring a guest Fri-Sun is ridiculous for how much they charge. I was misled by this because the membership advertises "you can bring a guest", and when I brought this up to the manager, he basically apologized for me misunderstanding something, like there was absolutely no fault on his part. It was poor customer service. The women's area is nice, but I wish it had more basic stuff or even just more of the weight selection they currently have. I'm canceling as soon as my contract expires and never going back.

It shouldn't be news when a gym is predatory, but they advertise platinum membership to bring in a guest. They never stipulated you could only bring them Fri-Sunday. It doesn't help I joined after freedom left, which offered guests everyday. They never said "we are a new company, signing with us does not give you benefits that freedom did, and we're not gonna tell you our changes". On top of that trainers that rip you away from your workout even when you tell them you're not interested

Horrible customer service. Instead of fixing problems within their administration, I am going in a second time to do what they should be able to do by picking up a phone and making a simple call. horrible!!!!
Friendly employees. Great space. It's clean, and they have a lot of machines....if only they would work! Machines stay down for months and months. If you find a treadmill that works, it likely won't have a working TV. If the TV works, it often won't have sound.
If they would dramatically improve their maintenance program, this place would be five-star for sure!

Spinning class used to be great. Out of 15 bikes 5 are out of service. We lost great instructors and have inexperienced instructors who have poor choice on music (80s Mexican music) which I like but not to work out to.
Perfect location. Professional staff. Good clean machines and training area. Every now and then you get a person just there to socialize hogging a machine or bench...but for the most part its a great workout environment.
Member for a year. Always went in the early morning. Gym was well maintained and cleaned. Great staff and service.
Great gym for the price. Staff is nice and usually it is very clean. Only two issues. 1: No squat rack and they refuse to get one. 2: It gets crowded (but at their low price point you expect that).
Good environment but it would be nice if machines weren't always out of order.
I am very upset. I paid for the platinum membership due to the fact that my grandchildren live with me and I take care of them while their father works. I bought him to the gym with me and they won't let me put him in the day care area while I worked out. Really he lives with me and he is my grandson. Not happy about that. I don't have custody because my son lives with me. This is truly messed up. I love half hr of my workout waiting for my other son to get out of work and pick him up for me. Not a friendly family environment. Not a happy member.
Been going here for about a week. They recently changed and became TruFit. Their spin class with the man with the fro (didn't catch his name) is EVERYTHING! Low-key you kinda hate him, because it's intense, but after the class you appreciate him. You'll feel so accomplished! Does get quite crowded during class times, but overall a good, clean, affordable gym. **Note to have access to classes, you have to sign a contract. If you just want to use the regular gym equipment it's like $10.70 a month.
