Talk about Personal Training.
Rio took the time to understand my body type, my personal goals and knows how to vary my trainings. Making sure I get condition, correct posture to making sure I engage the right muscles fatiguing them and eventually working me up to set personal records.

I love Gold's. My fitness trainer Dians is awesome. She always pushes me to work harder. Her classes ROCK!!!!

This is going to be a very long and thorough review. If you're considering a gym membership here, please read...

I'm a meathead. I work out a lot. You should take my review quite seriously if you do the same.

Things I liked:
- the gym is adequately climate controlled
- gym floor cleanliness is maintained for the most part
- plenty of young eye candy for the men
- Amanda Loesch

Things I did not like:
- there is no sense of community here; people BS on equipment and never put anything away
- the men's bathroom sinks had trap issues the entire 13 months I worked out there; was never fixed and always smelled like sewage in there
- the soap in the bathroom is almost always heavily diluted with water
- it is expensive to work out here and all you get is weights, cardio, and sauna; everything else is extra and you will be charged miscellaneous fees throughout your membership
- the water filters would go several days without being changed when the indicator said otherwise and I notified the staff
- with the exception of Amanda, there are no other trainers on the staff that have any business telling me what to eat and how to work out
- there are only two locations; the drive from far NE EP to the far east or I-10 is atrocious
- the main trainer (Angela Torres) never gave me my free training session (not that I need it, but it is an entitlement) as part of my gym membership; never got my free smoothie either because they closed down the bar before I could redeem it
- the hours are terrible; gym was 24 hours when I first joined and then was promptly changed soon thereafter.
- the gym is closed on odd days; new year's: closed, easter: closed, columbus day: closed (gym should only be closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas).
- a few of the staff members behind the desk are rude; although I think that one b**** quit or was fired
- the gym had no WiFi; this is 2019 and they charge a premium price, I would expect at least a small amount of data to spare
- the clothes and supplements (no longer sold) were way overpriced; only bought a towel my entire time there
- the gym has a policy against group training w/o hiring one of the Gold's personnel; at 0600 there's a softball team that comes in and runs half of the floor with no recourse and makes working out for the next 60 mins quite difficult

If you just want to go look at the ladies, politic with your friends, and don't mind paying well over $400/year for membership, go right ahead. This is your gym. However, there are other options in El Paso. I switched to EP Fitness ($215/year) and haven't looked back. I guess I'm just a cranky old man, but if you're serious about training you'll reconsider.

I love my gym. Not only do they have the best machines and equipment. I always work out with a good peace of mind knowing my little one is safe at the kids club. Never going to another gym.

Great gym with amazing instructors! Martha Castro in particular is passionate about her role and always gives an amazing class. Highly recommended!

Great environment and atmosphere with excellent staff. Jose Ontiveros is very friendly and helpful. He made my experience there a great one. Overall he is good peoples! I recommend this place to any and everyone!

Early morning and day time hours are best to avoid the late afternoon and evening crowds. Front desk staff is energetic, friendly and very helpful!

Shocked to see Golds Gym play a DVD movie in the cardio room that had a school shooting in it. High schoolers fleeing. Screaming. Man with gun aiming at kids inside school enraged. Shots fired. Another man shoots shooter in butt. Shooter shows up later at a school graduation.

What is Golds Staff thinking!!!???? They have not fixed Netflix in a long time now so staff put on DVDS. Another school shooting happened today. 4 pm and this movie shows kids being attacked fired upon in school. Staff put that movie on.

To top that off when movie ended I got off treadmill and asked ifthey could put on a different movie since this one ended.

For first time ever, a staffer did not comply. She avoided eye contact with me atall times and in a surly manner said that they play the same movie. She will go in there and restart it.

I asked again if she could put something else on.

No, she said, never once looking at me. A surly tone in her voice. Very young woman whose horrid manner reflects extremely poorly on Golds Gym.

I then said that I consider the movie to be inappropriate as it just showed a school shooting. Without apology, nor eye contact, she agreed to change the movie.

Had I not used the cardio room today and persisted in speaking up with her, tons more would have been 'entertained' by her tremendously inappropriate school shooting movie and resistance to change.

Joined two years ago. I have lowered rating to only average for obvious reasons.

Below is original rating from a year ago:

Lots of exercise classes. Personal trainers for hire.

Also has a dark cardio room with a movie screen. Lately their Netflix failed. They need to fix that because I dont want to watch Batman every day.

Juice bar. Stationary bike room. All kinds of weights and machines.

Locker room is very clean. Has a dry sauna. The showers could use improvement though. Water pressure is not good. Needs stronger pressure by changing the type of shower heads.

They play music too loudly. I use earphones to listen to tv. Earplugs to block out too loud music in exercise classes. Those are way too loud.

Prefer disco and instrumental music in gym main area but they play too loud rock and other really bad sounding music. Must use earphones to listen to something else while exercising. Most do this. Gym could greatly improve on the music.

Really Nice gym, but compared to other gyms in El Paso, it is a bit small with relation to the weight room, and too tight. The times I went it was busy, and hard to use machines, or find a space to use the free weights. Granted it was busy, but compared to EP Fitness or Planet Fitness there is more space to actually spread out or find a spot to use the free weights and not bump into someone. Golds Gym could probably expand the gym with the space they have, the front desk, no joke takes up a good chunk of space that could actually be morphed into more weight equipment...just saying. Other things they could improve on is allowing gym members that travel a lot something similar to Planet Fitness Black Card...Golds hasn't changed with the times, you have very limited use of there gyms across the country regardless of the fact you have a membership in somewhere USA, and try to use it at a Golds in Texas. Nice Gym, but the layout is too tight, and need dumbbell section expanded from it 15 feet length(sarcasm) to 50 yards.

The gym is always clean. Great environment. Has a Kids club, only $20/month(covers 2 kids) They supervise the kiddos while you workout. Has a smoothie bar, personal training available. Great team all around.

Friendly staff. Clean gym. Plenty of equipment, therefore no waiting time. Trainers are awesome and you see great results. Highly recommended. Can't wait for East Side location.

Been to gyms all over the usa. Very friendly people. Will fix ant problem or issues with gym.
I had a great experience, plus they have the most beautiful woman.

U better go at 10 a.m are 9 pm if not take a number because everyone is standing around looking at want a other man has, babysitting the weights, sitting on the benches and on there phones in front of the squat rack. Bad crowd.

Nice gym filled with people that are focused on working out and getting in shape. Try to avoid going at the peak hours to make sure you have equipment available and don't have to wait. The worst part about this gym is that people don't rack their weights where they belong. Otherwise, the equipment is nice and taken care of. Best gym in town that I've been to.

Love this gym, you get what you pay for. The classes are fun and work you out! I have a personal trainer, and she is the absolute best! I have been here for a while and have not had any bad views. Love this gym. Very clean, very friendly, and super worth it!

This gym is very caring and loving people especially the staff and trainers are very caring and willing to help us to meet our goals. This gym would not charge you other charges. I would consider going to this gym

I've worked out here for close to two years, and trained clients at this location for right at 1.5 years, therefore I have spent a considerable amount of time at this gym. I urge anyone in the area to come in for a free 3 day pass, and to at least give it a try. Kid's club available to members, sauna, functional fitness room, tires, and a community atmosphere that can't be beat by other gyms. No real complains come check it out.

UPDATE; GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTINUES!!! I had to travel out of town to Corpus Christi on an emergency . I contacted Lorenzo at the front desk 7 am and asked him to fill out a travel pass, take a picture of it and send it to me on my cell phone. Within the time we were speaking on the phone Lorenzo sent the pass. Furthermore he stated ...have the other gym call... ask for me if you need any assistance at all . This was all done in a couple of minutes and I am truly impressed with this facility and its customer service oriented staff. After 16 months...It's still evident to me that this Gym Wants my business and is concerned about giving me continued excellent service !! Thank you Lorenzo !! SG

5 stars for keeping this gym super CLEAN! Mando at the front desk is Awesome. He gave me a tour and a free workout session. I immediately signed up. 3 other family members including my wife had memberships at other gyms that could not compare. This gym offers child care for a small fee...more important is the patient staff in child care room. My boy used to cry when I'd leave him...now he cries when he has to leave! Ladies in care room are super top notch!. Not sure about post regarding pushy trainers...To date I have not been solicited by them nor have I heard complaints from family members? In fact my wife is coached by Amanda one of the BEST trainers at the gym..and absolutely loves her. Amanda is dedicated to her clients...men and women... like few I've seen.

Good location. Well equipped. Could get busy, but not overly so. Had a good smoothie/nutritional food bar.
