Visited for a SEO conference and this was a very cool venue for the event. Coffee bar was on point as well.
2 of the most amazing pastors I've ever met.
I like what I see and hear at Life in Deep Ellum. The people and pastors approach spirituality in a way that emphasizes practicality rather than appearance. It's comfortable, but not boring. The Gathering is worth my time because it makes me consider new ideas and new ways of thinking about old ideas.
The Gathering isn't a sit, stand, read, sit, stand, sit, stand zombie-minded church that I've been so sick of and done my best to avoid most of my life. I can sit and listen in a chilled enviroment of which I don't have people giving me "the evil eye" because I don't dress up because I know God loves me for who I am and He cares more about how my heart comes into His presence than how pressed my suit is, and Life in Deep Ellum is a place that encourages that, a relationship with God. The teachings are never bland or just the typical, the teacher always searches for a new topic or aspect that God may place on their heart, I really appreciate the desire for God and to share His Word that they, and the people here have. Genuine and safe place, no "masks" needed, and a fine example of real community.
I live out of town, but I've visited the Sunday morning gathering a few times. As someone who is in a stage of spiritual exploration, I found that this to be a safe and welcoming atmosphere. It a small and simple atmosphere, but still easy enough to slip in and out with a few smiles and nods if you want to stay anonymous. I like the influence of the arts and especially the emphasis on reaching out to the community and others around us.

One of the reasons I love Life in Deep Ellum so much is that when I bring a friend, they always feel so welcome and enjoy their experience. I spent several years volunteering with Deep Ellum Kids and saw firsthand how the children could learn about God in a creative, interactive environment. I highly recommend it!
We really loved the artistic feel and expression of the church. The pastor was very personable and his teaching style was easy to learn from. We loved the snacks and laid back atmosphere that gave it a real sense of community.
