I ended up being charged over $400 for services I never used. When I called the company, they refused to refund any of the money to me. They offered me 2 free months of work outs in return which I told them I could not accept due to having a wrist injury but that also, I would like to have a refund for the services I never used so that I may use that money for school (I am a student). They were not willing to budge on that or offer me anything else so I communicated to them that I would be leaving poor reviews, reporting them to BBB and disputing all charges made to my card. I do not recommend using this gym. They are not upfront, honest or trustworthy towards their customers and if you have any issues they will just keep telling you 'you signed a contract' even if their employee didn't directly communicate their cancellation policy or that I would be charged automatically after I had told them I did not want to be charged automatically and that I only wanted 1 month of service. Over all, this has been an extremely disappointing, as well as misleading, experience.
The owner responded to me below and this is my response: I told the employee the day that I bought the contract that I only wanted it for one month, that I did not want to be automatically charged each month because I am student and I am on a tight budget. That should have counted as my 30 day notice to you but the employee neglected to note any of my needs. They agreed with me and said that I would only be charged for that one month. Again, I communicated to them upfront that I only wanted to pay for one month and they agreed as well as reassured me that this is what I was signing up for. They lied to me and were dishonest and now you are standing behind that manipulative behavior. That is extremely disappointing. It is not okay for a business to have a customer sign a contract that says it needs a 30 day cancellation notice and then ignore that customer when they said they only wanted the service for one month (ie 30 days). The employee never actually noted that I only wanted the membership for one month such as they stated they would. Also, I never got an email with the full contract. I got an email stating simply that I had signed up for a month-to-month with no links or attached documents that were anything resembling a contract. On top of that, you also said that you would not charge me the $107.17 this month (on 9/3) when you did your 'courtesy cancellation' and you still did. You still charged me for an entire months worth of service that I am not using after all of this.
What you did is wrong and how you are handling this situation is wrong.
