This is a great place to learn if you're just getting into kickboxing/MMA or need motivation to get into the field of martial arts. So much of positive energy all around and Guro Larry and his team does a great job in encouraging and transferring that positive energy flow in all the classes. Overall the class definitely pushes you to test your limits and build respect and comradeship among your peers as well.
Martial Way Legacy offers a sense of camaraderie and community, and gives you the opportunity to learn from everyone around you as you work on improving your strength and technique in kickboxing/MMA forms such as Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do, MMA, Filipino Martial Arts, and Muay Thai. The positive community and welcoming space have been a huge motivating factor for me continuing with Martial Way Legacy. The school regularly offers discounted introductory deals that are very affordable, and they host a free Saturday morning class most Saturday mornings for anyone to come and attend, so there are plenty of opportunities to try out a few classes to see if this school is the right one for you. Guro Larry is a thoughtful, experienced, and enthusiastic teacher, and I am happy to continue learning kickboxing/MMA in his school.
Martial Way Legacy provides high quality training and a supportive community, making it an incredible place to learn. The training and instructing are excellent - your questions and constructive feedback are always welcome and appreciated. The healthy competition is contagious - everyone is there to shut down that inner voice telling you to give up. And if you're struggling with that, the cheering of your classmates might drown it out. People come back because they want to keep improving.
Larry is the most professional, passionate coach you can wish for. The energies and atmosphere will push you forward to achieve your goals and aim higher than you would imagine possible.
It has helped me create a healthier lifestyle.
You want a good workout? Done. You want to learn to defend yourself? Done. But be prepared to be part of a family and be prepared to push yourself beyond anything you could have imagined. Martial Way Legacy is a hidden gem in North Austin with a strong lineage to Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.

There is not a better place to train in central Texas! Guro Larry provides a training environment that makes you feel like you are part of a family. Very positive atmosphere, great training partners, and top shelf instructors.

Fun place to get healthy! Great for the kiddos too! Deserves more than 5 stars if you ask me!
This is an awesome place to get started on a new path or continue your journey. I first started during an informal class many years ago and met awesome people and had a life changing experience. Unfortunately, an injury prevented me from continuing and I stopped training. That didn't stop Guro Larry, he would continually keep in contact, checking on how I was doing and letting me know they could accommodate me and develop training around my injury. Stubbornness kept me away, but Larry continued to keep in touch. His positive attitude and philosophy finally won me over, I haven't been able to kickboxing, but I now do stick fighting, or kali, and it's amazing. He has worked around my injuries (and subsequent weight gain) to facilitate a program that works. I enjoy the workout, have met some really great people, and I always recommend Martial Way to everyone I talk to who is looking to train. It's a great place, full of energetic and friendly people.

There are so many amazing and wonderful things to say about Martial Way Legacy, it's hard to know where to start. So let's start at the top, there are 70+ Martial Art studios in Austin TX, that's a lot to pick from! So the first thing I had to ask myself was, what kind of coach and trainer do I want? The answer was simple, one who BELIEVES in what they are teaching, one who is still learning and advancing in their own personal training. I wanted someone who worked as hard as they expect from their students, and then I saw Larry. He always finding (and creating) new ways to push himself and anyone that will follow. When you walk into his gym, 90% of the time if hes not working with someone else, he is working on bettering himself. 2nd thing was a judgment free zone! I have a lot of physical injuries that make some tasks VERY hard for me. I needed a trainer and fellow student who wouldn't judge me, make fun of me or make me feel bad when I wasnt able to do some of the tasks at hand. 1st class everyone there was supportive of the fact that 1, I was new and clueless and 2 I just couldnt physically do some of the things. However what made it even better is when the more advanced students took the time to help me find modified ways of doing specific moves so that I could build my strength to get to the point that one day I'll be able to do it all! Finally, what else could I take from this place to help me in my everyday life or was this going to be just another gym i went to, worked out, went home and didn't take anything else home with me. Larry also offers AMAZING nutritional guidance and coaching on how to make your body the absolute best you can, again with no judgements.
With all of that said, Martial Way Legacy is the most amazing place to find a home and family with. I am blessed to be able to train here and call the students and trainers family.
The best place for getting in shape, helping learn so many different variations of martial arts. My son has been to those Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools before and I felt he was just a number. Here Guro Larry St. Clair helps you learn and is so motivated and will go as fast or slow. My son loves the Tigers class. I would recommend anyone who is wanting to come and be a part of a growing family that is Martial Way Legacy!!!
In the first six weeks of training I lost 10 lbs and 3 inches at my waist. The beginners Kickboxing classes are amazing. Definitely a 1000 calorie burn per hour. The fact that you can learn self defense, mixed martial arts, and intermediate level moves in the beginners class keeps me coming back. Last Saturday we were doing the flying punch. The instructors and students are very helpful and encourage everyone to learn better techniques. Everyone I've met there has benefitted from attending classes. I look forward to every chance I can get to go, workout, and learn more

Life changing experience! :)
The best gym and teacher out there.
Upon discovering Martial Way it was mainly the flexible schedule that was available at the time and the cost that made it possible for me to train. The scheduling worked out for me perfectly. I enjoyed my first few months just learning. When i did decide to do the belt program It was pretty amazing at how much I had learned in a short time. I appreciated Guru Larry for tweaking my training plan when i had injuries, it was great to still get the work out in even though I wasn't 100 percent to do the standard training. The school does foster camaraderie and yes on occasion Guru may ask for assistance for testing or teaching. I really enjoyed the community while attending and still do so even though I am currently not training. I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of regular training.
I started attending classes in 2011, and right away I fell in love with the teachers, classes and community. I can definitely say I am in better shape, but I have gotten much more than that from Martial Way. There is a wonderful sense of community, in and out of class, I never feel worried to ask for help, even if it takes 10 times to finally get it. Larry is an excellent teacher, he cares for his students but also invests in them, he is always willing to give anyone time to work through an issue and come up with solutions and strategies. If you are someone looking to make a change, or just looking to add in some new friends I highly recommend visiting Martial Way.
Martial Way has been an amazing and life changing experience for me. From starting there 8 years ago to becoming one of the black belts and instructors I have always felt challenged and pushed to better my self as a student, teacher, and person. I'll be the first one to say the school is not for everyone and it can sometimes be challenging and frustrating but I also have learned that you get out of your time there exactly what you put in. Larry is one of the most respected and distinguished martial artists in Austin and is known throughout the country through the MARS and Inosanto lineages he teaches. He's also a great father and person. I've had the choice and I know that for me, there is no other place in Austin I'd want to learn and study than under his guidance at Martial Way Academy.
