I went to Dancer's Shape for a year before moving out of town and I miss it SO MUCH. It's such a good workout and the instructors are tough but very kind.
Dancer's Shape isn't a chain, so the instructors are free to change up the classes. No two classes are ever the same. Now that I don't live in Austin, I've been going to some chain barre classes and they are such a let down compared to Dancer's Shape. At places like Pure Barre the classes are always the same, the music is always the same, the instructors are militant and it's like a cult where you have to be wearing the same stupid socks and people look down on you if you don't have a giant rock on your finger. At Pure Barre today a teacher snapped at me for modifying an exercise. That would NEVER happen at Dancer's Shape, where as long as you don't get in anybody's way, you're ENCOURAGED to modify the exercises to suit the challenge your body needs.
You know Dancer's Shape is legit because actual dancers teach and cross-train there. It's proof that you can have a killer workout in a relaxed environment.
