Bit small and not a lot of parking but good lay out and gear.

I joined Pure Austin in 2001 and it was a very sad day when Life Time took over. It went from being a locally-owned, personable business to being a faceless corporate-owned gym overnight. The employees have (or claim to have) no control over any feature of the gym such as type of music, volume of music, or freezing temperature in the women's lockers. The answer to any of my questions or requests is either "I don't know" or "the corporate office handles that." They raised personal training fees to the point where I can barely afford them. The women's locker room is nowhere as clean as it used to be. The only upside to this corporate takeover is the brand new machines.

Update 02/07/2020:
They again have tried to take more money and say I owe them even more. No matter how many times I reach out I don't get a reply or someone hangs up on me.

Not a pleasant experience. The sales manager at the location is extremely rude and unprofessional. Every interaction I've witnessed him have is hostile and lacks even basic customer service.
I was also lied to by the rep who came to my office to pitch us on a corporate account. If we attended a certain number of days then we would personally pay less. I was lied to what that number was, and how much it was to add family members in that meeting. The gentleman also told us that there were kickboxing and martial arts classes multiple times a day, at this location. We were also told that we could work out at any LifeTime around the country, that was our club level(Onyx) or below. All of those things have proven to be false though. Every single one of them.

I went into cancel membership after only a few months of having it, due to closing lies and overall not being a good fit. I was charged that next payment, as expected. I was then charged another payment, and not at our prorated cost. I went back in, again, and cancelled. LifeTime has continued to attempt to charge my account months later no matter what I do. I got another email today and called the number. They told me they don't have a cancellation policy on file. I said I've done it twice, and at this point the 'clerical error' is stealing. I asked to be transferred to someone who could help me get this resolved, was transferred...and hung up on.

This is an organization that will lie to get you in the door, make you feel like trash when you are in the club & will do shady things to keep trying to get cancelled members money in hopes they won't find out.

Was a member of Pure Austin for over 10 years but have left after trying to stay a member when Lifetime Fitness bought it. Changes I saw that made me leave were that it was not as clean, debris in the cracks of the work out floor and old sweat I could see on the floor. Then the variety and number of classes started to decline which was a big issue for me as I regularly did yoga and spin classes.

I absolutely love this gym. It's a great place to work out and an amazing atmosphere!

If you live/work downtown and are a busy professional who likes to attend classes and work out prior to the evening, it is not very accommodating. You either have to wake up at 5:00 am to make it to their early classes or you have to leave work for 1.5 or more. I have not been very impressed by the gym, especially considering how expensive it is. I regret committing to the year long membership.

I've been going to Pure now for years and I really love it. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming, the towel service is on point and the facilities are always super clean.

Highlights for me of this location are the sauna, recently renovated locker rooms and the variety of equipment and classes that are offered. I work downtown and having this location so close means I can easily incorporate my workouts into my day.

I also really love their smoothie bar and snack options for post-workout.

kudos for THE most smartly laid out gym i've been to. assisted weight machines are kinda old and out of date but are very well maintained. pros are...1- they set up their cardio machines on bleacher style rows that face the whole gym so you can watch people pass by which makes the gym feel always active. 2 - the spin bikes(which are the wonderful kaiser mach3 bikes) are grouped in an arc that face a large window. there's a heavy curtain that they draw around the bikes to muffle the sound - what a concept!!!) the female members are nice to look at too ;)

only thing is it has the most secretive entrance on any gym i've seen. Update on weight assisted machines. I have a personal problem with working out in them. A bit uncomfortable

I was a member there, and they explain all the time about prices renewals, they are really good at and even if you have questions. And it is great place to work out, very motivating place!

Great gym with a great atmosphere. I go there to get motivated and for the great classes. Their instructors are top notch!

By far the best gym in town! Everyone of the staff is friendly and knowledgable. The classes are top notch. The downtown location is a great spot to get your fitness honed and then you can go north and test that fitness on the climbing wall, pool or lake. So you get two great locations with unique flavors of their own. And speaking of flavors, they have the best smoothie bar and coffee around.

I recently joined the gym and was hesitant at first because of the price, but the quality of the facilities and equipment, paired with an exceptionally nice and welcoming staff sold me. This gym is excellent.

Be careful if you sign up at Pure Fitness... they pull tricky moves to make money. I had come over from an affiliate gym that the owner of Pure shut down, and I was excited to get going at Pure. Little did I know I'd be tricked. I worked out at the gym for about 3 weeks. I decided I wanted to cancel my membership, so I asked the front desk. They said okay, but you can also chose to put your membership on 'Freeze' and then we'll check in after a month and see if you want to either a) continue the freeze for up to 3 months or b) still cancel altogether. I said, great, let's do it and I had also been in contact with the assistant GM over email. One month went by and I wrote them an email to explain I wanted to cancel altogether. They said I was supposed to notify before the 1 month 'freeze' was over and that they could not refund the charge. I didn't use the gym at all and politely argued with the Management over email for a few rounds, and then gave up. Pure tries to talk you in to this freeze without explaining the details, and without a contract, so they can charge your card automatically and not give you the proper chance to cancel altogether. This was super disappointing considering I am an active person in Austin and had previously admired Pure. Customer service should be a top priority for any business, but it evidently is not for Pure.

$20 for a single session. So exe. Alternative was 10x 1 day passes at $19 each. $190 bucks for about a weeks access! I'm travelling, and only in Austin for a few days, but don't want to drop $100 on gym fees. No option for travellers, seems very 'sign up and it's cheap' by making casual options really expensive. Spoke to the memberships girl, so it wasn't like it got lost in translation. If you are casual, don't bother. Poor form.

One of the top gyms in austin and local! Knowledgeable staff and instructors that cater to athletes. Great fitness and cycling classes. Both locations have great parking.
