Update: This school knows the martial art well, but be warned that it may not be the right fit for children. They have a very militaristic viewpoint of training, and no time for child psychology. It should be noted that this edit was added to my review after my kids left the school. I was concerned that reprisals or mocking would occur.
Sport Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) are great sports, but if you want your child to be able to handle bullies and feel safe on the street or in dorms, this school is where they should be. Sensei Rose teaches real world self defense as well as Jiu Jitsu and MMA as a sport.
If you have not decided on a style yet, I highly recommend this. I hold a brown belt in Kenpo Karate, a green belt in Okinawan Go Ju Ryu Karate, and close combat in US Special Forces. Knowing all that, I wish I had been taught Jiu Jitsu first. The level of control taught in this art is impressive.
