Tried to go to the gym yesterday 6/2, it was closed and it was 7 pm.
Hours stated on website 6 am - 8 pm. They had no issues taking my payment out on 6/1 but can change their hours with no notice on the website. I have had a membership here for years and the gym has went downhill the last year. I think I will be changing gyms.
Tried to call the gym and was on hold for 58 minutes, I finally hung up.
I guess no one cares to answer phone calls.
Just checking in to share that my and I girlfriend are having the same issues with cancelling as everyone else. This company makes you write a letter and mail it to their corporate office. The office never gets the letter and we're still being charged months after with no hope in sight. Please do not cancel your banking cards because then they attack your credit score.
Great place to workout. This location can get very crowded during the day, but usually after 10pm or so its better to come. Facilities are nice and up to date.
An amazing place to exercise. You can come here by yourself or with friends.
Great value for money. Wait for the deals before your enroll. Be aware of the cancellation policy - they require written cancellation request sent by snail mail -That sucks, especially considering they do it for only for Texas, not other states. The online cancellation forms do exist for other states- misusing the Texas law provisions (?). Otherwise they are great - clean, well maintained equipments, lively ambience. I love it.
Love that they have a separate womens section. The movie rooms are awesome! Locker rooms are great. It has a sauna which I like. Friendly staff..Only complaint is not any hand sanitizers like most gyms have around machinery.
Super annoying to never be able to work out when you want. This location stays packed out. They have way too many members trying to work out at the same time. Not to mention the cancellation process is more than a nightmare. I shouldn't have to mail a letter and fight with you about you not receiving it. Dont waste your time here.
The gym times and equipment selection are convenient, however it lacks in other ways:
(1) Cancellations are a nightmare. You must send in your membership cancellation by snail mail and it must ARRIVE 30 days prior to the date you are asking to cancel. Even if you send a traceable, certified letter, they can and have been known to claim they do not have it (such as they did with my wife's). So be forewarned and take plenty of precautions. Update: They finally sent a notice that they would honor her cancellation and refund the new charge they applied after 30 days of receiving the first notice.
(2) Apparently this Fitness Connection worked out a relationship with UBF (Ultra Body Fitness) for personal training. So you may be approached, esp if you appear to be a new member, to be shown the 'ropes' in the gym... As they show you the equipment in the gym, they begin their sales pitch. If you state you are not interested, they up the ante and press harder, even bringing in their 'sales' manager. They did this to my wife and she was not happy to be pressured while she went to just get a quick workout. Seems like poor taste. Find better ways to market your trainers without the pressure.
(3) They do not always keep up on fixing problems with equipment or even their movie room. Lots of equipment has "out-of-service" signs and the movie room was broken for weeks.

Cancellation policy is a joke. I followed their ridiculous procedure yet they claim they never received the letter & continue to charge me a monthly & call because I haven't paid it. They were the only company with my banking info & conveniently after I cancelled my banking account was hacked. Which was another inconvenience because I had to close that account & open another.

After reading some of the reviews about this place, it's mostly true, hidden annual fees, and honestly this is what got me I was told when I signed up I had unlimited guess pass, but then I found out just yesterday it's only once every 4 months at 3 times a year. I've had enough and find it highly inconvenient that I have to send a letter to cancel my member ship. That being said the staff is super friendly and it's good for a "beginner" in that the equipment is straight forward to use and that there's trainers always on during the day. However i don't recommend this place if you just want to work out and if you live in Plano.

I am embarrassed and ashamed that I signed up with this gym. I agree with all other bad reviews posted on this site. Corporate office staff are a joke. Cancellation policy is a joke. Sales Representatives are scam artists. A majority of the treadmills have some malfunction that never gets fixed. Don't waste your time with this gym. You will give them access to your bank account and they will do whatever they please with your money.

1) This gym is way too packed all the time. Had to wait for long periods of time to use the machines I wanted to use.
2) I recently tore my acl and I'm unable to use the gym so I wanted to cancel my membership. But cancelling your membership here is a long process when it should be simple to cancel. They make you send in a typed or written letter saying you want to cancel your membership and then make you wait 3 weeks after they receive your letter to process it. I spoke with their customer service and was told that they couldn't tell me if they received the letter or not, because it's processing. So I asked, "Since it's processing does that mean they have received the letter?" They said they couldn't tell me until after 3 weeks has passed... what? So while I wait for them to "process" my cancellation letter I get charged for the month when I can't even work out.
Plenty of fans and equipment but this gym has potential to be so much better. If you want to end your membership you will have to send a letter to their headquarters which is a super annoying hassle. It's also extremely busy unless you go after 9pm. Only 2 basketball courts and a useless theater room next to it that nobody uses. Also one too many squash rooms. Small sauna in men's bathroom. Good gym for it's price.
Been to all of the DFW locations and this is probably my favorite. The cardio theater is pretty awesome idea. Burn while you stride or run. Good free weight selection. And staff if pretty friendly. Good price. Pain to cancel.
[The Allen location] I wanted to see what this gym was all about so I went to get a day pass, but instead, I was pulled into the back and felt like I was in a car dealership. [FYI: The only way to get a free pass is to PRINT off a pass at your OWN home, not the gym's.] I was feeling so pressured to sign up that I told the sales rep that I was no longer interested in the gym (I know he was only doing his job, poor guy). I hated being treated like I was just another dollar.
If it wasn't for the high pressured sales pitch, I would've given the gym a chance as it was really large, modern and neat. There's even a female-only section which is cool for those that hate being stared at by others.

Good gym. Equipment/facilities break often, but the employees are incredibly nice and friendly. Great membership fees!
Worst CUSTOMER service ever.
I tried to cancel my membership for about 6months, I sent them the certified letter twice and still getting charged on my card. Is so stupid how they can take your money right there in the gym's office but you can't cancel your membership. Don't get a membership here.
Clean, well maintained gym with a good variety of workout choices. Two raquet ball courts, two basketball courts, a cardio theater playing movies to help pass the time, plenty of weight machines and free weights, a spinning class and group class areas (no extra charge for classes), a separate area just for women, and child care at busy times.
Great for members until they try to quit. The sales staff is literally taught to use car salesman techniques including "let me go get my manager." They require 35 references per day v from each sales person We then cold call said references to death We routinely lie about no promotions coming up just to get someone to spend ~$300 just to run a $10/$10 deal the next day Great way to make your sales staff look like complete dicks, Jonas Fitness Also sales staff is required to push unwanted supplements on new clients as well as get them into a personal training "session." (Sales pitch.) The personal training is subcontracted out so anyone who has been in this industry knows that's a huge red flag I had to console numerous of clients I signed up because UBF lied to them directly about deals and pricing Also UBF is run by a thief and a woman who dates a VP for the direct competition That is pretty indicative of her morals and loyalty to fitness connection and her clients Training there is subpar this coming from a former GM of a personal training studio with the most affluential folks in Dallas and a few celebrities as well. This gym is only worth your money in may when they run $10 enrollment and lock you into a $10 membership price DO not ever pay $129 for the $10/month You will easily see it go to $50 or $75 at least once a month. The parking is abhorrent and the parking lot regularly has female clients flashed and exposed to sexual misconduct The GM is a very unprofessional, impatient sarcastic child who is gone more than he's there. If you do manage to catch him there in the evening try to excuse the smell of liquor when he speaks to you. Also never work here They lie to you about all opportunities and constantly practice goal post moving. This company is a direct result of the current saturation of gyms in America because that's when the sharks come out Also, I wonder how many women are sick of the continued sexual harassment via looks,, cat calls and management openly discussing "who is hotter" at the front desk during peak traffic. I honestly feel bad for the people at that facility They have a miserable, screaming alcoholic for a GM and a company that will defend a client who physically assaults a staff member and then write said staff member up and comp the assaulter with free PT etc. It's gotta be difficult seeing yourself as a man if that's how you treat your loyal employees It's OK though, because you always reap what you sow
Seems like a great gym so far, good prices and good equipment overall. Only complaint was their movie cardio room is a really cool idea (I love both so I could be in there all day), but the bulb for the projector is broken so there's a huge blue water-looking mark on the movie protection :(
I have enjoy coming to this gym. it has free wifi and enough equipment to keep me busy.
PROCEED WITH CAUTION IF YOU'RE IN THE MILITARY: Please note that I rarely leave a negative review and have been a member here since 2015, but when it comes to putting membership on hold if you're leaving for the military, it's almost impossible. I've spoke with 9 different people and 3 different managers and none did anything to help me, returned calls when they said they were going to, or were successful at assisting me with my request to put my membership on hold. It's clear that fitness connection does not prioritize these things by their actions. I've spoken with the following people over the span of 2-3 weeks to no avail.
1) Call center (4-5 people, none were helpful, and someone named Nyrisha insinuated my orders were a photocopy)
2) 4 voicemails left for supervisor at call center named Melissa. She called back once and then left for the day before I could return the call 3 minutes later
3) Spoke to Jessica - Manager at fitness connection in Carrolton. Twice she said she would handle it and never did, nor returned calls when she said she was going to
4) Noe - district manager - was told 3 times he would reach out to me and never did.
Anyone who cares about customer service should take a strong look at Fitness Connection competitors. The stress from this isn't worth the membership...
Good gym, but a lot of people doing wrong deadlifts and wrong squats. And the people don't consider to learn right even there are a lot of coaches available. People has to do a lot of warm up before leg exercises and always do squats before deadlifts.
The facility are clean and fun. But I won't sign up for UBF or personal trainer. They are too expensive, and very unorganized. They cant never work with my schedule.
I wish I could give 0 stars in this review! I've been a member for a couple months, and the first problem I had they didn't help me, they just got me upset. The say everything you want to hear to make you be a member, but then, when you are a member, they don't care about the promises anymore. I was okay with the gym being always crowed and with the problems to find a parking spot, but I could accept how they treat me when I was asking help, so I tried to cancel my membership, and to do that I have to send a letter to a place, WHO DOES THAT? How can I turn in a member there but I can't ask for the cancellation there? I really don't recommend this place!
I joined this gym a couple of months ago and I am totally enjoying myself. They have a couple of cardio movie rooms, hot saunas and the largest assortment of machines that I have ever seen. Also, the staff is super friendly and helpful.
The price may be good, but you get what you pay for. Too many patrons but not enough equipment....for example the cycling room is not well equipped for its Saturday crowd. I booked a bike with a towel so that I could go and stretch, but upon return, the towel was missing and the room was full. The bicycles are also worn due to over-use but staff are oblivious. It makes me miss the Irving mall facility which, even though, gets packed every Saturday morning, patrons respect others' property and the instructor, Addriana, is quick to report broken bikes. She even gives up her bike on full days and is still able to instruct seamlessly.
Pros - 24 hour gym, affordable membership fees, usually no trash on floor except the basketball court and men's locker areas tend to gather trash quite easily. Easy freeway access to the gym. I don't normally use the workout classes, but when I have the instructors were good. Front desk employees attitudes were acceptable and on occasion when leaving the gym they sometimes acknowledge my departure with friendliness.
Cons - Too long to list which includes an assault incident that happened to me, but not enough to file a police report unfortunately. Tried getting assistance by phone from the front desk employee on Jan. 10th 2018 @ 3:30 PM (he took my name and number and I never got a call back). I tried to get assistance later that day from the GM around 9:30 PM (who kept me waiting over 10 minutes so he could "finish his numbers". so I walked away. Tried to call corporate customer service (goes into voice mail). I do not recommend this gym.
Good price and equipment. The child care place is one of the best I've seen. The issue: the gym is a complete mess. The majority of people don't put the weights back on the rack and it seems that the staff doesn't care about it...
Cool gym, with nice atmosphere.
I'm not deep into weights, but it is really affordable for the features I'm using:
1. Eliptical in the cinema room - really cool
2. Cycling/RPM classes. The coaches Angela and Shannon are amazing.
Clean, large, with an indoors racquet ball and basketball court. Numerous strength training equipment as well as cardio machines. Dedicated woman's workout room. Large lockers as well as a sauna in each room. Dance room is not open to free use.
Signed up for the 5 day free pass. Tried out several classes and the equipment. I love the movie room where you can watch a movie while working out on a stair stepper, elliptical, treadmill or bike. The staff is friendly and helpful and the cost is more than reasonable.
I've been with a trainer for about a year at Fitness Connection. If you are looking for personal training, I highly recommend the services of Blair! Lots of amazing workouts and education on health.
Most of the other staff seems uneducated on the policies and rules of the gym. I have had a few too many negative experiences to honestly recommend this gym specifically. Unless you just care about cheap. They. Are. Cheap.
I spent 3000 this year on personal training for my wife. The trainer doesn't show up half the time. And then when we tried to finish using up the sessions missed- they said I had to renew another year long contract and THEN I can use up the extra sessions. Ps: we called corporate and no, we did not need to renew a year long contract. They will basically do anything to make a sale I guess?
Very faulty service over the last year. At least it is affordable. You get what you paid for.
Good box gym foe the value. They have good membership sales throughout the year. It does get packed in the evenings though so be warned.
