Love this gym. You really don't get much help but you can figure things out for your self for the amazing price

Membership fine print is clear as mud. Go up the road and join planet fitness, your bank account will thank you.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, clean clean clean gym and locker room.
The place has great energy.

Great marketing, great desk workers, delightful trainers, ABBHORENT management and that's why I will NOT be returning and have warned friends NOT to come here.
In January I had a military grade lock bolt cut from my locker and had money stolen AND I wasn't the only person that night this happened to. I only did about a 20 minute cardio that night, so this happened quickly. I immediately alerted the front desk, who had the manager on the phone, for the issue that their computer systems weren't working right. The front desk workers asked his manager if she'd like to speak to me, she said no but told him to have me fill out their in house " police report" (their exact words). As I filled it out I said "I know y'all have signs that say your not responsible for lost or stolen items but..." The front desk worker then stated "don't worry about that, those signs are for people without locks, we are going to take care of you. I know you had this cash, because you tried to pay tonight and I saw it.". Which is true, the reason i couldn't pay was due to the computer systems not working. I then asked if I needed to alert the authorities. He reiterated that his manager had told asked for me not to, that this form would serve as the police report and that she would review the cameras and get back to me within a few months after the investigation was completed .I told him that with this incident and other reasons of being displeased that I'd also like to cancel my membership. He said that they'd take care of that and that they may even just work out a deal for the cash that was stolen since it was quite a bit. Silly me, thought they were taking care of it.
Last week I stopped in to find out where we are at with what seemed like a long investigation and all the front desk girl could tell me was that her manager was busy. The girl at the front desk helped me immensely as she researched, called the managers office to find out details, and ran over numbers with me, all the while appologizing and telling me that she fully understands. The manager never offered to come out to speak to me, but relied on just passing information over the phone to the desk clerk. The manager told the girl that "he never filed an official police report, so he's not that concerned and there's nothing that can be done. Offer him $20 off. I, once again asked for the manager to call me and more than a week later, she still has not returned my call .
The staff here is great .Facilities are wonderful .Trainers are fun . Management is the absolute worst and I could see the frustration on the faces of each of the workers both the night it happened and when I stopped in last week . Completely unacceptable guest service.

Super clean, friendly staff, quality equipment, beautiful childcare area, and a nice turf area for sleds and bootcamp type exercises.

The Gold's on Chapman Hwy is smaller but it's cleaner than most Has ok atmosphere, even though the hard of hearing adolescent employees insist on blasting the music. So Gold's has no competition in the east TN area? Damn shame.

Sure when downhill fast should have kept the management of The Rush closed one gym cut hours of all rest only thing not cut is the price very bad Corp structure find somewhere else to work out

Love going to the gym I have been to several gyms and golds is on the list of good gyms. They have everything from steam room to pool to bikes and free weights. The biggest perk is the child care. It's great for parents to have a place to go where they can take their kids and know they are safe and in good hands. The down fall is they change the hours of the gym and the worst part is Friday nights the child care closes at 7pm?! During the week it's open till 9pm this does not make any sense and it does hender some people that go their. The staff is great and their for you. They keep the gym very clean. They have a huge locker room with plenty of lockers that no one uses and they don't enforce it either so you will be seeing gym bags on benches and sitting on other machines makes for a unpleanst work out knowing you have to climb over gym bags or wait for the person to move the bag from the equipment your needing.

The Gold's gym on Chapman Hwy is smaller but it's cleaner most machines are newer, and the same color. Has much better atmosphere. I dread going to the Walker Springs gym which is much closer to my home.

I love my gym. I do wish they would update some of the machines. I have visited the other location at Walker Springs and it does seem like they have newer machines. However I enjoy working out here because on most days its pretty quiet. If you go on Wednesday nights, Fridays, most Saturdays, and Sunday it is dead. I would advise against Mondays (obviously), Tuesdays and Thursday. There are classes there weeknights which take up most of the green space so its hard to stretch out on those nights. I usually stretch out near the entrance. It's hard to hate on the gym itself though because there is limited space and this gym is smaller compared to the other locations. They do the best they can given their resources. They have been accommodating though when it comes to cleanliness and bringing in another squat rack. It just sucks sometimes because you can tell they want to make it better but they probably get blow-back from corporate. The staff here are great and friendly. I have been here about 3 years now and I enjoy coming still.

I'm going to break this review into 2 parts: one for Gold's Gym as an entity and one for this specific location. I did this because I feel that the majority of the issues I have are with Gold's Gym as a whole and not this specific gym.
First, this specific location:
The staff is a wonderful group of people. I honestly have nothing but praise for them. They are personable and have gone out of their way to get to know me. Especially the daycare group where we drop our daughter off at. The facility itself is in good condition; the equipment is well taken care of and if something is out of order it doesn't stay that way long; they are really good at maintaining the equipment. The swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room are great. Also, the locker rooms and showers are in great condition. My only complaint is that management seems to have a difficult time properly staffing the daycare to match the amount of children coming in at any given time. Also I'm not crazy about the operation hours of the daycare either. Why in the world would you close at 7pm on a Friday? That makes no sense at all.
Gold's Gym as a whole:
Again, i want to emphasize that I'm mostly upset with the corporate side of things here. The staff is just following marching orders so there's no point being pissed at them. So, I guess I've got 3 major issues here. First, my wife and I were on a plan together when it was still The Rush. All of a sudden, my wife is no longer a member of the gym and we have to pay an additional 32 dollars a month for her. We should have been grandfathered in regardless of whatever current plans are there. My second issue is with the operation hours of the gym. Recently they started closing at night, meaning they are no longer a 24/7 facility. The membership that I am paying is, among other things, for 24/7 access. If you want to start closing the gym at night fine, but my membership price should reflect that and be reduced. They did something similar with the kids club a few months ago; they started reducing the operation hours and then started charging 12 extra dollars a month for it. They are literally charging us more money for less service. My third issue is with how the daycare staff is treated by Gold's Gym. I'm no stranger to the fact that they are making minimum wage (I inquired about employment a long time ago). This seriously is one of the most difficult jobs in the gym (or anywhere for that matter) and Gold's Gym doesn't even have the decorum to give them a decent wage. I want to make something really clear here; there are few things more important to a parent than being able to trust daycare providers. If Gold's Gym can't hang on to people I know and trust (not only for the minimum wage but for whatever reason) then we will not be coming here. I've spoken to a number of different parents that frequent the gym and use the kids club; they all feel the same way. Placing the value of money over your employees is not a great ethical standard to follow and speaks volumes about your business.
Most of our issues have happened within the last few months or so. I've often found myself wishing that Gold's Gym never bought out The Rush but that's irrelevant; it's who we got now so we'll just have to live with it. But I will say this... if things continue to trend the way they have been then we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

Great place to workout! Friendly staff that doesn't push sales or personal training on you. Top of the line equipment that, for the most part, is kept in good repair. Unlike Planet Fitness, which is more like a daycare for fat adults, they don't judge you for being in shape or lifting heavy. Intimidated by people pushing themselves to reach their goals? Grow a pair and use it as inspiration to push yourself harder rather than asking an employee to tell them to stop being so strong! My only complaint is that they've changed their hours recently and now close at 11pm instead of being open 24/7. Hope that changes back. Highly recommended!

Went to the gym at 9:00 on a Saturday night to find it closed. I joined back in 2002 when it was the rush. I need a 24 hour gym. I guess I need to start shopping for a new one

Last month I spoke to a guy at reception on the phone. I told him that I was going back to Australia and would return at an undetermined date. He forwarded all of my details through the manager for the next day to cancel my contract and noted that she would be in contact if there was an issue. I see that there is a charge on my card for membership. Can you please reverse this. Thanks you

The owner is a complete jerk clameing that me and my friends did something to cause him to file suit.We have done nothing to harm others or damage property.

The staff sit back and make fun of the who give them jobs. If people didn't come their to get in shape or back into shape none of you people would have a job other than a gas station attendant or being a hooker who sucks at her.

@utseay below me who commented. I was a member of the rush and my contract got redone when it turned to golds. I love the gym but I was out of town working and lost my debit card and I called them to change it but they said they couldn't. My 2 year with them was already on month to month so it defaulted and when I got back in town to pay they said no I needed to resign contract. The mananger there (a woman but I don't remember her name) said no they wouldn't let me fix it.. this is over about $60 or some small amount. I cancel membership and then call back in to complain about her and the assistant manager told me they. Oils will fixed it no problem. The management there is terrible but it's a great gym
