After 6 months at Momentum Fitness, I am more convinced than ever that a gym just doesn't get better than this. I bought a trial on Living Social and was planning to use it to give myself a kick start back to an acceptable fitness level. I did not plan to continue because of the price differential between Momentum and, say, Gold's, where I'd been a member but where I was not inspired to work out regularly. (In other words, I didn't go.) I changed my mind about my temporary status at Momentum as soon as I realized what a gem the place is and what a huge difference it was going to make in my health and well-being. I have done personal training with Michelle both on an individual basis and with a "trio." She leaves other personal trainers I've had in the dust. She's incredibly knowledgeable about anatomy, form, and movement, and she's exceptionally personable. She works trainees very hard, but there's also laughter and good humor in abundance. Michelle takes into account your age, fitness level, injuries, and goals; she pushes you only in a good and reasonable way. Michelle's co-owner Rob appears to be equally skilled, knowledgeable, and pleasant; the adjunct staff is wonderful as well. The facility is beautiful. Somehow looking out at the river and waterfowl across South Water Street makes it a little less painful to do those step-ups and lift those weights. I can't imagine a friendlier, more peaceful atmosphere for a workout. The classes on offer are also superb; I regularly attend core & stretch and barre. The results have been terrific. I am almost 65 years old, so I've definitely hit the use-it-or-lose-it phase of my life. I'm using it, and I feel so much stronger and more flexible than I did 6 months ago. Momentum Fitness is an incomparable investment, and I have happily adjusted my budget to accommodate the slightly greater expense compared with Gold's. I pay a little more, but I get many, many times more than at any other gym I've used. Give it a try!
