I joined this gym about a month ago and I'm really happy I did. I signed up through Joe Depena, the owner. VP Fitness is an establishment that is detail orientated and I'm sure that comes from Joe (more on him later). It's the cleanest gym I've ever been to and it always smells good; the lighting is even pleasant, no harsh fluorescent lights! VPF is cognizant of it's member's time, offering:
-Complimentary towels each workout
-Locker rooms offer complimentary shampoo, body wash, blow dryer, flat iron, makeup wipes
-Locker rental- I DON"T HAVE TO BRING MY SNEAKERS TO WORK EVERYDAY?!
-Shuttle service (depending on your package)
There's also a sauna, a smoothie bar, grab and go meals provided by L'artisian Bakery and Cafe. VPF utilizes an app to sign up for classes and even offers a rewards program so you can earn points for all kinds of things. If you're looking for acres of studio space and Olympic pools, this gym isn't for you, it's a 'boutique' gym in the heart of downtown. It's like when you're looking for a 2 bedroom apt but go for that 1 bedroom because the location and amenities are awesome- and it's just so cleeean :)
I joined mainly to take the fitness classes. Terence, an instructor, is fun and encouraging and I get a great workout. The spin classes have become one of my favorites and it's cool to see how different the instructors are. Daniella is technical and will call out specific RPMs, whereas Elia keeps it freer, and likes to take cues from the music. I've trained 1 on1 with Joe a couple of times and he makes you work! He's not the kind of trainer that will sip on water and dole out instructions. He's an active participant and gives you tough encouragement (you might be even prompted to count enthusiastically in Spanish). He's a really dedicated trainer and wants you to see results. Overall, VPF has been a positive experience so far and I'd recommend it if you are in the downtown area.
