Best place to learn How to protect yourself and others, while learning how to never have to be in a situation that could be harmful. Also keeps your mind and body centered and strong. I'm disabled and fall a lot. We work on my balance and improving my core strength. While still teaching me how to protect myself and my 3 children. Master White cares about every individual he trains.

I have been going to this school for a little more than a year, and I am currently a green belt in kung fu. I have already learned so many things, which range from doing a simple drilling-fist punch to learning the short staff routine. Training here has also improved my reflexes, concentration skills, balance, discipline, respect, and social skills. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. If anyone is looking for a kung fu school, I would definitely recommend this one.

The staff are professional and friendly, the studio is clean and inviting, and the classes are helpful and well executed. Classes are a nice size so that students get a good mix of group work and one-on-one instruction. If you're looking to try something new, this is a great opportunity to learn and grow!

I spent many years training in Ying Jow Pai with the staff at Rothrock's before transitioning to Krav Maga. The training and experience was top notch and I've considered returning with my children if time permits. I use my training constantly as a police officer and it has never failed me. Shaolin Kung Fu is a great art, great exercise, and Rothrocks will not disappoint.

Outstanding place! All the way from the teachers to the staff at the front desk. When I joined in 2010, I was amazed to see how well the coaches interacted with the students on an individual level. No matter your level of personal fitness, they are very encouraging and want to see you succeed. The same goes for the other studios, they all carry a high level of professionalism.

Even when it comes to the children's classes, the staff reinforces proper values such as honor and respect towards others. It's so nice to see the younger students (little dragons) shake the coaches hands and thank them.

Master Rothrock, Sifu White, Mr. Solito, and the rest of the well trained staff are hands down some of the most professional people I've ever been around. Thank you for everything.

Rothrock's is more than a martial arts studio. It's a community. I have been attending Tai Chi classes since summer. Good physical and mental exercise. All the instructors are pleasant and patient. I go a couple times a week and it has been very beneficial.

From the second I walked in I knew I was in for a treat. Every single person is so polite, respectful, and willing to teach. Every month is a change in style so if you're not good at a particular step or combination, you won't be suffering for long. I play soccer and rock climb and the leg strength and balance I've obtained in the 3 months I've been there have me so excited to see how strong I can be when I actually get good at what I'm doing. The training is easy enough that you can do at home to practice and workout and the people are friendly enough that you will likely go in shy and alone but leave with a friend and workout partner.

I've now been here for more than 2 years. Climbers who haven't climbed with me in a while compliment me on my muscle and body control which I most attribute to those very lessons which are taught in class. Curriculum has changed since I started which is refreshing so that you know they're not recycling the same techniques and lessons over and over again. I have since stopped playing soccer of which I've been apart of since I was 4 (27 years worth of experience) because I found more love and benefits in Kung Fu at Rothrock's. I can't thank or praise this team enough in Southside for the well-being they've given me these last few years. In addition, my training partner whom I met at my first lesson is now part of my wedding which goes to show the type of bonds you can have from your classmates as well.

After moving to Pittsburgh I researched martial arts studios for weeks and visited several until I found Sifu Rothrock's Kung Fu. The staff was friendly and informative, more than happy to talk and answer questions and I walked away knowing for a fact that this was where I wanted to be. Me and my best friend took the three introductory classes and immediately signed on for a year of training and I've never regretted it. The instructors are knowledgeable and helpful, keeping the whole class moving along while still finding time for individual instruction throughout. They don't just stop being friendly once they have your money either. Every day when I get to the studio I'm greeted by name with a smile and the instructors are happy to talk after class as well.

I've been in and out of Kung Fu training here for the past decade. Personally, I've been caught up in a whirlwind of graduate school and jobs that have kept me away from regular training for months and years at a time. Mr White and the South Side instructors have been incredibly supportive and have kept me coming back, even after I had all but given up on Kung Fu more than once. Coming back to basics is difficult, but it is worth the effort!

They could have cashed out my tuition and let me drift away, but they haven't. Instead, they have kept in touch and brought me back into the fold again and again. They remind me that I made a promise to myself... that I would finish what I started a decade ago. That's some serious dedication to students!

An outstanding place to train! I highly recommend anyone interested in martial arts to check out Rothrock's. They have a wonderful group of instructors and a great culture for martial artists of all ages and experience levels.

A welcoming place to study martial arts. Friendly atmosphere and super supportive, while also challenging and interesting. Couldn't recommend highly enough!
