It's a no for me Bob. Overall it's a great gym for hardcore fitness enthusiasts, body builders, and people who own the gym. The location was convenient and the price was rather low, but I could not get into the flow of it. But I did get a great tshirt!

Lots of various equipment, squat rack, benches, etc. Day pass is $15.

Great value for a downtown location and selection of classes and equipment. Locker facilities are ok but others are better if your budget allows.

Very shady pricing... I signed a year contract for $24.99 a month. I'm sure there is fine print in the contract that says they will continue to charge you after the year is up, but I certainly was not verbally told this when I signed up. When I called to stop the payments and cancel my membership (which I shouldn't of had to do because I signed a year contract), they told me I needed come into the gym to sign the cancellation paperwork. The month after I signed the cancellation paper, I was charged another monthly payment. When I called to question the payment, they told me the cancellation was not effective immediately. It takes 30 days, and if your auto-payment is set up within the 30 days, another payment is withdraw. I had to cancel my debit card to ensure no further payments were taken from my account. Unethical business practices. I will never go back to Gold's Gym.

It was not the gym for me but I really appreciate that they called me back promptly and let me cancel my membership after my contract was over without issues!

The customer service is great!

Why is there always dust in the women's locker room? I've seen it months ago and it's still there, in between the walls and the lockers... Why does it still have to be cleaned? Also, can you PLEASE clean your bathrooms, or it's not possible?? 2 times out of 4/week I can't use your bathroom because it's so dirty. Hygiene in a gym should have a high-level priority!

Promo offer is a trap!

I recently moved to Pittsburgh and just went there to check the gym. They will do all the tricks to sign you up for their promo offer lying about offer deadlines and all ( In reality they always have 1$ promo offer to trap customers). They will quickly do everything so you won't have time to read what you signed up for.

I didn't use the gym a single day after signing up but would need to pay them for 2 months as they require you to notify of your cancellation 30 days prior. Best part is I tried cancelling via phone (Not allowed), went in person (not allowed after 7 PM or on weekend). Finally, I had to leave my office on weekday to get out of the contract. It's a frustrating and painful experience and I still will pay them next month without using a single day.

They should train their staff to be more transparent and not treat people as sales targets. Gym facility is above average but I would not recommend this gym to anyone due to their unclear policies.

P.S. Ask for a copy of your cancellation notice in case they come back to you for more charges.

I belonged to Gold's about 5 years ago when I worked downtown and rejoined recently after taking a job downtown again. While not expecting massive improvements, I will say that the gym has not changed much as far as cleanliness and maintenance of equipment goes. I've been going for about a month now and there hasn't been a time where I've gone in that I didn't find broken equipment, out of order, or began a workout then had to jump to another machine since it was broken without a sign.

In the women's locker room, there's lockers that are broken and a light bulb that has been burnt out by one of the mirrors for at least a month now. There's visible dust around a lot of the equipment, walls and some of the bathroom areas. My biggest issue with Gold's is that they charge you a $40 "maintenance fee" to which I'm not sure where that money is going as I don't see any improvements.

Even after not having been here for 5 years, it's in the same state of need for equipment, cleanliness and general maintenance. This place is long overdue for some improvements, which I'm not sure if they are planning on any renovations at any point in the future. Attached next door or in the same building is corporate housing so I'm not sure if any of those individuals use the facility or not but with bringing in business like that, surely the user base is possibly expanding.

I've belonged to LA Fitness (West Mifflin/South Hills branches) and Club Julian's in the North Hills, both of those places are superior in equipment inventory and cleanliness. Only reason I'm giving more than 1 star is the lack of options of full service gyms downtown, the Y is really very nice but higher fee with shorter hours.

There are 2 Squat racks and 0 dead lift areas in the entire gym. 70% of the equipment is outdated. Half the machines dont have any plates. There just arnt enough. Lol your forced to walk around and steal other people's weights.
But hey 50$ a month, and 100$ annual fees.

I canceled my membership August 2018 was told everything was fine. They continued to deducted membership fees out of my account for 3 additional months. I kept calling they kept saying it was good and fixed. Finally I closed my account so they couldn't access it any longer. Then they sent me to collection in December, Jan, and Feb. 2018. I told ABC Financial that I closed my account. They took me through a loop with Gold's Gym. I called them again and was told I have to walk in their center to close the account - they need to "see me". I explained if I was able to come there I wouldn't have canceled my membership. I was given a fax no to send a written letter stating I canceled in Aug 2017. After sending the FAX reflecting DEC, Jan, and FEB notice in writing to ABC Financial, I receivedl a call on 2-8-18 from the woman in charge of membership who informed me the ONLY WAY TO CANCEL MEMBERSHIP IS THRU CERTIFIED MAIL and THEY DIDN'T HAVE A FAX NO. I told her she was a flat out liar and I faxed over 3 notices of CANCELATION. She retorted until you pay for these 3 months (Dec Jan and Feb) she wouldn't cancel my membership and the fees will continue to accumulate and be reported to their collection agency ABC Financial. I informe dher she can try to keep me in her system by making up new requirements each time if she wants but I WON'T GIVE THEM ANOTHER DIME.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM !!!!!!!! I SEE WHY THEY ONLY HAVE ONE IN PITTSBURGH AND WITH THESE TYPE OF TACTICS THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN.

I love their work out movie room. And everyone is so nice and helpful.

I joined this gym in 2006, cancelled my membership, rejoined in 2017. I will be cancelling my membership again.

The gym is in a convenient location, but thats it. There's not enough equipment for the size of the crowd that comes in. The equipment that is there has a 50/50 chance of being broken. The locker room has many lockers that are broken, with no door, part of a door, and isnt very clean. And now im finding hidden membership fees that were not disclosed at the time of signing up.

I once notified a staff member that a piece of equipment was not functioning correctly. If you put the weight above 50 lbs., it would cause the machine to have some kind of audible friction and you had to work twice as hard to use it. The staff member simply said not to put the weight that high and walked away.

When you think "Gold's Gym", you think of all the hype and standards you would expect from a gym as old as Gold's. What you get, at least with this location, is frustration, disappointment, and a lack of assistance from the staff.

Not sure what people are talking about. It is not a "scam", just be smart and actually listen and read what you're signing. Easy to cancel, easy to join. GO GOLDS!! Staff is great. I've returned to the gym twice due to business and it wasn't hard either time!

Great gym. A lot of free weights and fantastic equipment. Much better than LA fitness. The only complaint I have about it is some members there have horrible hygiene and need to wear more deorant. I understand it's a gym but if I can smell you from across the gym we have an issue Houston. If you are looking to join a gym that is about fitness come down and talk to my man Tyler. He will hook you up with deals better than Black Friday.

Great gym!
