Blink Fitness is amazing! The gym is clean, the location is convenient and the staff are the BEST- courteous, helpful and accommodating.

I have had a gym membership for years at another gym but it was not until I met Shawn R. at Blink that I really began to work on my fitness/health. She is a trainer and instructor at Blink and was the first person ever to push me to achieve my fitness goals. At 37, I feel healthier than I ever have and it is totally thanks to her! Even when I struggle, she is there to motivate as she does for all members.

If you belong to Blink (or any other gym) I highly suggest that you stop by for one of her HIIT or Treadmill fusion classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. They are tough at first, but you are guaranteed to see results (AND have a lot of fun with great music). Thanks Blink staff, especially Shawn, for making fitness fun!

I have finally had it and canceled my membership.

Today I asked a "trainer" for toilet paper because they are out every single morning. He was by the door where the toilet paper is stored. He gave me a nasty reply walked 3 feet, turned around and gave me a "go to heaven look" and walked away. You would have thought I asked him to help me wipe. This was not the first time.

Last night I was in the room working out by myself when 2 girls and the manager came in, turned the music as loud as it would go, and just looked at me. I was watching a movie while I was working out and was first in the room. The manager said i should have asked for it to be turned down when I said something about it. Should I have to do this?

They are pushy as hell. They say its a "no commitment" gym and fail to mention annual service fees, cancellation fees, taxes on monthly payment, etc. And when you want to cancel, be prepared to have 12 employees annoyingly ask you "why" with puppy-dog-eyes and make you extremely uncomfortable. You pretty much have to sell your soul to quit the membership, which has to be in person because their "customer service" dept is useless. There's nothing special at this gym and the "personal trainers" follow you around and stalk you into buying their sessions. Is it really that hard to find a gym that doesn't make you feel like you are joining a cult? Apparently. I don't care about your "gym culture" and gimmicks. I want to go, work out, and be left alone. You can't do that here.

Staff were ok but management and the company itself is horrible!! They false advertise, and charge you without being authorized all types of hidden fees that are not in the contract. If anyone signs up I advise you to use cash only!! Even the staff talk about how bad the company is ran. Also why can you not reach corporate not an email, phone call or anything!! Just Disappointed!!

Called to cancel my membership because the place is overly crowded and i never have access to the machines. I was advised that there is no cancellation fee, but it was mandatory i come to the gym in person to cancel. Came in person and was charged a $75 cancellation fee. I told the employee i was advised over the phone there wouldnt be a fee. He didnt care.

Equipment that is broken has been this way for over 2 months because of 1 little bolt. Ridiculous.
Come watch the front TV screen where they play soft porn continuously.

Since the new manager has taken over several of the staff have quit. The gym is now dirty, especially the bathroom. Equipment that is broken has been this way for over 2 months because of 1 little bolt. Ridiculous.

The gym is nice and clean with good workout equipment but the company is horrible. I moved and called to cancel my membership and they require you to mail a hand written note to their headquarters saying you want to cancel.. not an email but a friggin hand written note.

This is a great place to get your exercise, i recommend it.To Amber, Thanks for the heads up you just reminded me that i shouldnt always be nice or kind to everyone. Sometimes people jump to conclusions and take their misconception out of context. But dont let one bad apple spoil a bunch. Surround yourself with positive influential people, and always move forward.

Love this gym! This gym is for the people who are trying to stay fit, tone-up a bit, and keep everything tight. The free weights max-out at 90lbs... so there is no one throwing any giant weights. The gym is always clean, and there are a variety of options for cardio. Can't beat it for the price! Keep in mind, you pay for what you get. You want a sauna, amenity-filled locker room, and fancy gym? Head to Center City and pay 10x the price of Blink. You want a clean gym with a good variety of machines, weights, open areas and a staff that keeps it running smoothly & clean? Head to Blink!

I've belonged both to an expensive Center City gym and to another budget chain in Philly. I didn't know what to expect of Blink and couldn't be happier. The staff is helpful and friendly, everything is always clean, the cardio machines (I use the treadmills) are always available and correctly calibrated. There is tons of other equipment and free weights. My original plan was just to join for a few months during the cold weather, but if it stays this nice I'm going to stay.

Some guy on the street signed me up, I told them I was only living in the city one more month and then was moving, they said no problem try it out. Sure, better than Planet Fitness for my last month living there. Didn't mention to cancel I'd have to pay another month and their annual fee. Hard to trust a company with zero transparency just pulling fast ones on unsuspecting people. Will make sure to not recommend to anyone.

I see a strong relationship between bad reviews and people failing to read their contract before signing. Not once have I been surprised with a fee I was unaware of because well...I read the contract. I know it's a ton to ask but it's sort of part of being an adult.

Other complaints seem pretty stupid, too. I've had a good experience with Blink so far. Employees are friendly enough, equipment works OK, what else do you need? It's a no frills gym, expecting more than that is incredibly dumb. Get in, work out, go home. If you have time to observe what anyone else is wearing, etc. you're not using the gym for it's intended purpose. That said, this cute blond I see in there almost daily....call me.

BE AWARE OF THEIR NO CONTRACT RULES... Unfortunately when they sign you up and tell you no cancellation fees and you can cancel at anytime for your are no under contract they forgot to tell you that you still have to pay 45 days more after cancellation and to top it off if there annual fee falls on that time you are cancelled but they are making you stay on their system for another 45 days, you will get charge for the $49 fee too. So much for cancel with no problem because you are not under contract.

I have been trying to cancel my membership at Blink Fitness for close to 3 months. They admit to me that I did what they asked and one of their employees did not forward the paperwork to corporate headquarters in New York. Corporate headquarters doesn't have a number to contact them. In all, I have spent ($15 x 4months)+$49maint fee=$109. And the kicker is.... I have never used this gym! I signed up for $1 in March when I lived closer to the gym. After moving, I went back to Blink Fitness and filled out cancellation paperwork less than a month after this location official opened.

Having come from Planet Fitness, I was happy to see the same atmosphere of "everybody is welcome" vs other gyms in the city being full of meat heads. As for management I don't understand what the heck everybody's talking about? The staff is beyond friendly and are probably the most attentive I've seen at any gym... if you are upset that they wanted to get home on time, that's life! It takes a few minutes to wrap up your workout and if you aren't there at a reasonable time then plan ahead... don't complain-- Simply put. It's not bad customer service if you are staying after hours and told to get out.... The best hours to go are between 7-9:30 am as it is next to empty and there's enough breathing room to get everything done without having to 'wait your turn'. The only downside I've seen thus far is that I had my lock cut from the lockers and told they had a strict 'no overnight policy' which I was never informed about. So my clothes were gone and while it's not a heavy loss, I was sort of pissed off... they have a couple "day lockers" in the main area which makes no sense as they cut your locks at night, so what's the point of the day lockers in the main locker rooms?? Hmmmmm. All in all, a good gym. Could improve with very minor things like lack of paper towels and the overnight lock thing, but overall great job. I recommend!

It's definitely a well equipped gym. It has free weights, including new treadmills, ellipticals, rolling machines, stairmasters and a bunch more.

The equipments are clean, its well ventilated (no stinky musk), the staffs are helpful, the bathroom, showers and looker area are clean.

They also have sports drinks and gym apparels for purchase if need be.

October 19, 2017 08:49

Update: 10/5/17
They have finally put up a bar to hang your clothes on in the shower area. The handicap bathroom still does not have soap and has 1 small hook for your clothes. This is not a handicap friendly shower even though they do have handicap lockers. If you are in a wheelchair and want to use the shower you might want to look elsewhere.
I guess my review made them mad, because now the music is as loud as it can go at 5:00 am. You really should come watch the "everybody booty" video playing in the front of the gym as they have now added men in their underwear showing their abdominal muscles. Yesterday, there was a person that was a size 6 in size 1 shorts. (becoming more common daily) They have no dress code policy enforced here.
***************************************************

Blink claims to be the club for everyone. This could not be further from the truth. If you love music so loud that it completely overrides your headphones then this is the club for you. Nothing like 70-85 decibel music at 5:00 am. Over 90% of the club wears headphones. But the club for everyone says " sorry, it's club policy that me make you hate our club."
You can also see a video of people shaking their butt over and over why you work out. The video says " every booty happy" with one of the people appearing to be twerking. Everyone hates this video and the loud music.
The showers have needed repair since opening.
The handicap shower still has no soap in it. and water comes out the top of the hose.
