Gym needs updates and could do a bit better with cleaning.
I'm writing this review due to Manager Ryan Curran who was very professional and helped me out during my cancelation process. He seems to have his head on his shoulders and is doing a good job.

Reasonable equipment and pricing. It started off at 20/mo and then increased up to 47/mo at which point I cancelled. There was a $30 termination fee and a yearly fee of $40 and no hassle. Great gym.

Something is always broken at this place. It's either the sauna, water fountain is basically non-existent, no hot water from showers...etc. And NOW there are cockroaches! I let the staff know before I left but I bet this information never made it to management.

They raise your prices without telling you and when you go to them and ask about the raise, they claim that they sent out a notification (never did) and say that they will get back to you soon with a manager (never did x2). This place is close to a SHAM when it comes to raising prices. It's completely arbitrary and they do it without telling you. The facility is dirty/infested/broken. The staff aren't even all that friendly and are very unavailable and unhelpful. Totally not worth the money and not worth the trouble.

Looking at all the previous reviews, I'm scared for what's to come when I move and need to cancel my membership. I'm almost certain that they will try to scam and leech off your money as much as they can. I'm still (begrudgingly) here because of a personal situation but AVOID AT ALL COSTS if you can.

I belonged to this PSC about 6-7 years ago, and it was a good gym. From my recollection, they charged more for a membership at that time. Now, they charge less, but for apparent reasons. The gym is pretty dirty; dust is everywhere. Most of the equipment is old with rust and torn leather on the seats, has not been replaced in quite some time, and has pins missing. The people who work there are pleasant, but I have had issues with overcharges on my credit card, which seem impossibly difficult to resolve, as others have noted on this thread. It's a shame; I'm not sure what happened to this place. I would be happy to pay a higher monthly rate if the equipment would be upgraded. Perhaps it's because PSC leadership doesn't want to invest any money in the gym. The gym is not very crowded compared with other gyms I have belonged to, which I suspect is due to the comments listed on this thread.

A really unpleasant place. I quit the contract, but they kept on billing me without a reason. I talked to the manager and he said he would deal with it, but then he started ignoring me. I don't recommend this place, even though it seemed to be nice in the first place.

Absolutely the worst management. I was sold a membership by a sales guy who gave the wrong information. When I requested to cancel or called to cancel they did not process the request. I was charged for memberhip for June, July and August. I have never even stepped into this place and I have going through medical condition due to which I can not workout. Most ridiculous management who do not repond to any request. They just made about $200 out of a fake deal they were running. Disappointing! The final resort is I called up my credit card company asked them to block them as a fraud transaction.

Club is good, equipment is good, people are friendly, good class selection, and the price is probably the most reasonable in the center city area, but you do get what you pay for sometimes. To be clear I don't really have any major complaints as for $40/month or whatever this place totally fits what I want, but some other reviews make notes about how crowded it gets or how long it takes for things to get fixed, and they are entirely correct. Also note, their billing practices can be a bit, uh, convoluted, to say the least, so do keep an eye on your credit card charges to make sure you're always getting the price you agreed to. Especially if you change your plan or cancel.

I have been coming for couple of months. Was given a very good discount when I enrolled. However I can't go to other branches of PSC because my enrollment doesn't allow me to. I will have to leave my subscription first and enroll again by paying yearly service cost which would allow me to go to other PSC. Thats the only thing which I didn't like otherwise every thing is fine. They have group exercises, yoga, steam room, enough space for weights, and enough number of treadmills etc.

We don't even need to talk about how dirty the changing room and showers are. They double charged me for my annual fee. Tried to resolve and could not get a resolution. Then charged me for a monthly fee when account was already put on hold due to injury. I had to clock them through my credit card company as they are unresponsive and make no effort. They will also raise your monthly rate with out notice. They will tell you they emailed you! Terrible gym and equally terrible customer service.

Do yourself a favor and check the other gyms in the area before joining this one. I signed on at $20/month. Less than a year later it became $30 with no notice. Another year and it was $40. No $40 gym I've seen has broken down treadmills, torn fabric on the benches, and mold in the showers. This place needs to invest in a wrench to tighten up all the lose equipment.

DON'T JOIN. The gym is fine. Equipment is fine. But I called and cancelled my membership in October because I couldn't afford it and was told it was cancelled. In January I started getting charged a monthly fee of $34.99 and then was charged $190. I called PSC and was told that my account had been suspended only and that it was reactivated as of January. I asked for my money back and was told conveniently that the manager was new and wasn't sure if I was going to get my money back. I keep getting billed irregularly but on the first of the month for $34.99 for an account I called and closed multiple times. Don't join this gym if you plan on cancelling your membership any time because they will continue to charge your card and scam you out of your money.

I had cancelled my membership two months ago, and saw that I am still getting charged for my membership. I called yesterday to try and cancel again. I was told that the manager was the only one who could process that, and that they were in a meeting. I called back an hour later, and was told the same thing.

I called again today, and was told that the manager is not in, and to call back tomorrow. Whoever the manager is, they are never present or available.

If you join this gym, be advised that you will be lied to and avoided when it comes time to terminate your membership.

I joined the gym in Dec, and quickly realized how hard it was to find parking. This location has about 10 spots across the street on a small lot. I went back about 3 weeks later after I joined to cancel my membership. After I had tried several times to access the gym,but coulnt find parking.When I went to cancel my membership I was told by an employee that a manger had to cancel and one wasn't their at the time but when he came in that day my membership would get canceled. I didn't have to sign any thing. While checking my credit card statement for this month, I realized that I was still being charged. 190 in total for this month alone. I went into the gym to speak with the manger and his only solution was to cancel my membership as if yesterday. I told him I wasn't paying anymore money. My membership should have been cancelled. I asked for his manger and was told he could only give me his email. I sent and email and haven't received an response. This is a very unprofessional business.

I was a member at 12th Street Gym. The Gym Closed and our memberships were transferred to PSC. I read the reviews and had no interest in visiting this gym. I was ready to consult with my lawyer to see how I could get refunded. I took a deep breath and decided to check it out. As I was walking through the door, The 2 gentlemen who were at the desk were talking and laughing and they stopped talking to greet me. I explained that I was a Member of 12th St and needed to transfer my membership. A person by the name of John ( Tall Slender gentleman with Locs) helped me. He was friendly and polite. He signed me up in minutes. He gave me a tour. He apologized that there were renovations in the locker room. His service was overall excellent. While on the tour, 2 other staff members said hello to me. He explained that the members are friendly and that I can look forward to getting to know the people who work out there. The Gym is bigger than what I expected but it is not Huge. I prefer smaller gyms. I know that the gym has low ratings but It does not deserve them based on what I've experienced in the last 2 weeks. Some of the staff know me by name now. I was going to purchase another membership at a gym that is about 4 blocks away but I've decided to stay for the remainder of my membership and the way things are going, I will more than likely renew it.

Worst staff ever. Do not expect a simple "hello" when you arrive.....expect a bad attitude. Equiptment getting old and is filthy. I need to cancel from this place.

It's sad to see how this gym has fallen apart over the years I've been going there. As others have noted, the equipment is old and outdated, things that are broken stay broken for ages. Worst of all is the sheer filth of the men's locker room. Really, how is it possible that it is cleaned so seldom? Mildew in the showers, filthy steam room (won't even go in it anymore), and no working water fountain. It's hard to even know who the manager is. On top of all this nonsense, the parking lot is a joke. Totally unpatrolled so over and over I've sat there in my car waiting for a space to open up only to finally have one open up because somebody who wasn't even AT the gym get into their car and leave. I've complained to whomever was at the front desk on numerous occasions... absolutely no response. It appears to me as though the parent company is intentionally letting it go so that they can ultimately shut it down.

When I attend in the evening the staff usually welcomes me in a similar fashion. With that being said, I will say that aside from the staff and location of the gym there aren't many other good things to say. The equipment is dated, and some important machines are completely missing from the gym. From week to week something is out of order, whether that be a treadmill, or locker room mechanism. The parking lot is often full with little governance over who is supposed to be there. Additionally, the set-up of the gym is not conducive to peak gym hours. Overall I wouldn't tell people not to give this gym a try, but I believe there are better gym facilities available depending on where you live in the city and price tolerance.

It took me roughly a month to cancel my membership because a "membership coordinator" was never "available". Finally during my last visit to the gym I was ensured my membership was canceled and I wouldn't be billed further. Three months later and I'm still being charged for my membership and when I complained I was told there was nothing they could do. The management is horrible and the customer service is a disgrace.

I see a lot of complaints about the staff and I've not experienced bad behavior, but have nothing positive to say either. They barely speak when you come in. More importantly, I've been a member of other "Sports Clubs" (Boston, NY) and I'm SHOCKED at the condition of the equipment here. They have very old and dated equipment and some of it remains broken. I'm in the process of researching a new gym. All I can say is for those looking to join, I would suggest to keep shopping. They have a 2.3 overall rating for a reason. Let that speak for itself!!!
