Great place to work out. Highly qualified personal trainers/training. The equipment is excellent & in the proper working order. The operation hours cater to many different walks of life.
Malcolm was very helpful and through with providing me the information needed to set up my gym membership. I was able to express my fitness plans and he gave me details on how LA Fitness could support these goals, such as hours, locations, and classes offered. I am thankful for a positive experience setting up my membership with Malcolm.
Malcolm was the most amazing sales person I've ever talked to! First off he is very handsome and no I'm not just saying that. He took a very scared person and got them excited about health and fitness. If you go over ask for him he will be the best decision you ever made
Thanks to Raymond Jackson, I was quite impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and service of the gym representatives. Raymond was eager to tell me about the gym and all its amenities including the pool and aerobic classes that they offer throughout the week. Raymond was very professional and knowledgeable not only about the fitness club but also with the surrounding area as well other locations around the country. He also followed up with me the next do to see if I had any questions about the facilities in general. Ask for Ray if you have any questions. Great guy. Cheers!
Great gym! My trainer Katie Walsh is the best and has kept me on track with working out for the past year. The only two issues I see are the training area needing to be bigger and the bathrooms needing to be updated. The kids club is massive and the training area can't fit more than 10 people working out at a time. The bathrooms seem to be the original ones when it was built and the smell and lack of air circulation is pretty bad.
2 months ago I signed up, and immediately I was contacted for a training consult. BEST DECISION EVER! The trainers I work with, Katie and Sean are very attentive to your needs and health issues, and will accommodate you anyway they can! Personal training has not only improved my overall physical health, but my mental and emotional health as well! No regrets here!
I just began coming to la fitness about a month ago. I love the atmosphere and the people who attend this gym. Not to mention the kids CLUB!. Who would of known that I can get a good work out, all while my kids are being taken cared of.Even more, they have an amazing juice bar that makes the most delicious protein shakes! They taste as if im having ice cream.
Gym is fine. Great customer service, in a good area, and everyone is friendly. The gym is also clean and gives off a good vibe.

Being the only proper gym in nearby surroundings, it looks always crowded but still you can get enough space to do your session.
The best part of this gym is pool, well maintained and water ph level checked regularly.

LA fitness in Philadelphia is one of the best gym here, people here are willing to help you with what you need, being a member in La, fitness gives me the opportunity to made a good transformation that I need, the stuff here are always beside you, guide you and make sure you are in the right way.

I want to cancel my membership.
I can't do it through phone. I can't do it after 5pm. I can't do it with any other person other than the operations manager or come and fill a form and mail it and wait till it takes affect in a few weeks. It's like they're doing their best to not allow you to cancel your membership. I'm probably going to get some time off of work just to cancel my membership. (I'm not sure if this is the case for every branch or just this branch)
The babysitting also sucks. The people there don't like their job at all. They never smile or anything.

The CEO does not keep this place clean the womans showers are always dirty. Something is broken at any given time, sauna or steam. The positive is that et he staff and instructors are friendly. The people that attend are great.
I like how this LA is set up with the weights and lots of cardio machines. It can be really messy though that is my only complaint. Really hard to find weights because no one puts back the weights after using them so that is frustrating!

Very crowded and cramped at all hours of the day! And there's always broken treadmills. Some equipment is not for use unless you have a personal trainer which is a little ridiculous. The yoga and spin class is good so I'll give them that.
I love LA Fitness. The staff is friendly. The equipment is kept up. A variety of equipment. Pool, sauna, etc.
Love the facilty. A few of the trainers at the Bala Cynwtd gym are rude. Overall, it's my favorite gym
Excellent..I work out at least 4 days out of the week, great customer service, friendly environment, and I luv the juice bar, however I don't agree with while entering sauna ppl/persons laying down on the bench and you have to stand or ask them can you sit down or others may not say anything...its just inconsiderate..but that's not LAFitness fault- overall - I Lov My Gym!!
This is one of my least favorite LAF clubs to visit. If it wasn't so close to my house, I'd never set foot in here. It is compact, dumbbells and barbells are constantly missing or not reracked, and at least one machine is always in need of repair or missing pins for the lighter add-on weights.
This gym is just ok. It is always very crowded when I would go at around 7:00 pm. Always seems like people are sitting around on the machines on their phones not working out at all. Locker rooms looks old. I honestly was expecting a little more for the price. I think ill head back to planet fitness at least the people say hi when you walk in there. The one thing I did like was the amount of free weights but thats really it.
Malik and Devin provide great customer service at the gym. They are both attentive, give great advice and are always a positive energy once I step into the gym.
Every time I go it's a great environment... I come out feeling great after an amazing work out. Everyone is friendly, never feel awkward here!

Been a member of LA Fitness for years but recently started back at the Bala Cynwyd location. The staff has been more than accommodating and helpful with any and all of my questions/concerns. I wanted to specifically acknowledge the GM, Kyle for always going the extra mile to ensure I have a pleasant experience.
I had quite an unbelievable experience at this LA Fitness location, and in the worst way possible. Although I am late to bring this issue to the attention of the general public, better late than never. I feel obligated to inform people so they do not get ripped off. Roughly a year and a half ago, I was signed up for a membership for just a couple months, and made it clear the membership was only needed for a couple months. Come to find out, a member of the LA Fitness staff FORGED MY SIGNATURE on a contract to extend the membership for a total of 12 months....?, (Photo evidence available). When this issue was brought to the attention of the staff, they were indeed apologetic, (I'd imagine as they were fearful of the repercussions for FORGING A SIGNATURE), yet could do next to nothing to remediate the issue. Their "policy" didn't allow for a full refund in this scenario. I was informed I could only be refunded for 4 months of the 12 month period. Taken for a ride to the tune of $180+. I will be reporting this to the BBB and speaking with my lawyer to see what can be done. Buyer beware, stay far away from this LA Fitness location! (There are many reputable LA Fitness locations in PA that are worth the drive).
I had the most horrible experience at this gym. I brought my wife and sister n law to the gym to workout the day after thanksgiving. A guy named Joseph and another staff member very aggressively approached me and told me to leave, because it "appeared" the I was training them! Thinking back the moment still seemed surreal. If the members simply was observant as the assistant manager who had to step unfortunately after all the damage was done, The gym would have probably gotten two new members that day but instead they lost 3. There are many other gyms around Philly, that are in the same price range that knows how to treat the members. Its a gym you don't have to do much. Keep the place clean and be respectful and polite. I give them 1 star because they seemed they can't do either.
LA fitness' modern facility and professionally dressed staff approaching you with a warm smile is quite appealing and inviting. But this is all a facade. LA fitness management team both local and corporate is a poor excuse for a business. The way they handle customers issues is despicable and lacks any professionalism. Their main goal is to get your money. They removed up to $150 from my account even after my account was closed. I called them multiple times, including the corporate office only to be given a false assurance that the issue with charging my debit card after cancelling my membership had been resolve. I had to go as far as getting a new debit card. I strongly warn you to stay away from their fraudulent corporation. LA fitness' corporate ways are vile and deplorable. They are masters of deception and dealing with them will irritate you to your core.
I joined this club back on Monday, February 27. I only go there to swim and do my water walking. The staff there is very nice and professional.
I definitely will be going there this summer instead of the Haverford YMCA; which I also belong to. I am not going to put up with another summer of noisy kids acting like a bunch of animals while I'm trying to swim! Since they use the warm water pool for the summer camp, I have to use the lap pool, and the water's just too cold!
The other issue I have is that there are women bringing their kids into the ladies' locker room. It is off limits to children under 18. Not only that, I don't want any little kids seeing me naked and getting dressed. Here at L.A. Fitness, I can swim in peace and quiet. And I don't have to worry about having any little kids in there either. I don't have patience with children, and I'm so glad that this is an adult-only club. I also don't have to worry about the limited swim times here as well. And the fact that they don't allow little kids in the pool there.
If you're looking for a place to work out and swim without being distracted by noisy kids, and where they have more free swim periods, then L.A. Fitness is the place for you
Its convenient because its near my work place but they dont clean the equipment and it stinks. Like.it really smells like a sweat box. Planet fitness at least cleaned their equipments everyday this place (no)
I have a fitness center at my community but I'm looking for somewhere to take classes. I've been trying out a few local places and so far LA Fitness on City Line has been the worst.
When I first walked in, Kyle (membership specialist) tried to force me to join right away "you have seven days to cancel" instead of letting me redeem the 3-day guest pass they offer. He was very pushy and didn't make me feel comfortable. Eventually when I said I was heading over to Andorra to check out their location he agreed to the guest pass.
I went back today to use the pass and try a cycling class. The instructor wasn't very on top of it and had to keep apologizing that the playlist wasn't what she wanted and she was playing with her phone to change songs which throw off the momentum of the cycling.
I'm still going to check out the Andorra location, but if I join LA Fitness at all, it won't be for City Line.
Great place to work out right in the middle of City Avenue... the personal trainer sales people are ridiculously annoying though and bother you when you work out the best thing for you to do is the wear earphones and wave your hands at them telling them to go away..
Their whole goal is to sell you personal training whether you already have it or whether you're as fit as an athlete or as big as a truck but they're pretty relentless.. so sorry about the kind of negative review on their sales people but the gym is self and the people that work out there a pretty darn incredible..
This is the best gym in my neighbourhood! It has almost every facility one can need in gym. Friendly and helpful associates...Recently they have remodeled and become better...
