I'm a 65 year old Crossfitter. Before I started Cross Fit (4 years ago), I thought I was in pretty good shape. I ran recreationally and thought that was all it took. As years passed I found that my pace was slowing, my upper body strength was going away, my weight was increasing and I was having trouble staying motivated. A friend pointed me to CF. The thought of something like CF scared me... it might be too much for an old man. After a short time I started seeing results. The results soon became unbelievable results. I could do things like pushups, pullups, even rope climbs. Things I hadn't done for over 40 years. The weight lifting still scared me. At my age there are several factors that must be considered. Is the technique good enough to safely lift the weight. Am I strong enough to handle it. Is the coach pushing me to do it correctly? Is the coach making sure that I don't over do it. Is the coach making me check my ego when I need to. Enter CFI. Crossfit Intensify has produced a wealth of fantastic coaches. They typically build from within the CFI family. Several of these coaches are now at CFI West and they are the cream of the crop. What I like best is that they do it right. They make sure you are doing it correctly, the weights are appropriate and always scale when it's time. The result is that I'm in the best shape in my life. I've been nearly injury free. Certainly less injured than when I was a runner and amazingly my run times have improved over the years. Sounds weird, but true. The CFI family is the best ... they motivate, support and encourage. I've made friends for life (some youngsters & some seniors) It doesn't get any better than this.
