Love this gym. From my very first visit three years (or so) ago, was very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Had signed up for the intro to bouldering class that taught the basics of bouldering (had never tried indoor or outdoor climbing before.) The instructor was very patient with our group taking time to teach us proper technique on falling, reading routes, and general movement on and around the wall. Was hooked from that moment and signed up for a membership shortly after that first visit

Have been visiting the gym during lunch breaks usually 2-3 days a week. The environment at the gym is unlike any other activity I participate in (kayaking, running, snowboarding) as the staff and other gym goers are very friendly, available to answer questions and provide guidance on routes, and generally just super encouraging and helpful. Makes for a great experience every visit.

The facility is extremely well maintained and with the most recent expansion of the gym facilities offers even more opportunities to participate in activities (like weight/strength training, cardio, yoga, and more)

Highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in having a great experience trying out indoor bouldering for the first time, experienced climbers looking for a challenge, or someone interested in there other activities (like the yoga classes) as all of the experiences are top notch.

I look forward to every visit to the gym!

A buddy invited me along to try the climbing wall and I wasn't quite sure of what to expect. Having never done this before (or having been to Rock Mill) and being a little out of shape, I must admit I was a bit shy. After taking the entry-level course and accomplishing a few of the low-level climbs I began to feel more confident and had a blast. The staff were super friendly and helpful (excellent instruction by the way) and everyone I talked to in the climbing area was so nice and supportive. I ended up really enjoying myself and may have found a new hobby. Thanks again Rock Mill staff!

Few gyms compare to the quality of holds, difficulty of climbs, variations of climbs (routes),
friendliness of patrons, personality of staff, cleanliness, and variety of fitness offered.

Rockmill sets the bar high or maybe I should say holds. From walking in the door Rock Mill is
set up centered around climbing and the climbing community yet offers a diverse range of
fitness classes that help with climbing along with yoga. This has created one of the most diverse gyms that I've gone
to.

The climbs (routes) at Rock Mill are quite diverse from the beginner to advanced. The routes are
well marked and easy to follow. Holds are of great quality and offer much better grip than other
gyms I've climbed. Routes are constantly changed every few weeks offering diversity in climbs.

The simple things are what Rock Mill nails. Rock Mill is clearly designed as a oasis
Whoever creates the playlists should get a raise as they're quite diverse yet well selected to go with the climbing
atmosphere. The set up allows for a good flow and they is a good amount of seats to rest and
watch. Even when they're is over 50+ people there is adequate room. Liquid chalk is provided which I've never been anywhere which gives it out.

The patrons at Rock Mill are always available for a chat especially to help you with a route that
you might be struggling on. Staff are constantly walking around to ensure safety and offer
pointers. Their staff also climb consistently and it shows as they know what they're talking
about.

Rock Mill does more than just be a gym with special events that incorporates the community
around them raising school supplies for local schools to donating canned foods along with the global climbing community. Sometimes I wonder if this is a for profit gym or one that just wants to help others out.

Overall if you haven't climbed at Rock Mill you need to. It will give you a challenge, you'll
probably meet a few people, and your body will probably say you worked hard after.

Went to the rock mill for my first bouldering experience 9 days ago. Since then i have already been back 3 more times! Great facility, very friendly staff, and all of the climbers are more than willing to help out beginners. Would recommend to anyone who hasn't been, or just trying to start a new, awesome hobby. Ill definitely be signing up for a membership once my trial membership is over. Thanks Rock Mill! You rock!!

One of Akron's little-known treasures. Everybody, from the staff to the other climbers, is super-friendly and welcoming. It's a clean, well-organized gym, and the routes change often enough to keep things interesting.

I honestly don't know how they do it. Staff treats you like family, everyone knows your name, everyone is super chill, helpful, and friendly. Amazing place really.

I saw a Groupon getting 2wks unlimited rock wall time, free yoga and use of the weight room for $20. NO BRAINER!
I visited the site a day before I intended to climb and met one of the staffers by the name of Nate (I think)
He had me sign an electronic before he gave me the tour. VERY interesting story of how they make their own molds, locally. I didn't realize that there are no ropes, as this is considered "bouldering" and you are free to move, and fall :) st will.nate gave me the run down on how the walls have "routes" of different colors denoting their difficulty level. He also explained "how to fall" may sound silly, but even the awesome stunt man style padding can still be enough to Spain an ankle or wrist, if not worse. Can't say enough about the experience, the next day I came back, watched a short video, rented shoes for $4 and started climbing. Everything went smoothly and everyone was courteous and one person even helped me complete a route I had failed twice on, showing me a different sequence of grabs to use. The sense of community was nice, no shirt-off/show off kinda atmosphere. I could ramble about how impeccably clean the entire facility was, etc. but you just have to see for yourself. There isn't a negative thing I can say right now about my experience thus far.

We took our two girls (6 and 8) who have been begging for a climbing experience. The facility was very clean and the staff was super friendly. It wasn't super busy when we went so the girls were able to find an area to climb without being in anyone's way. The other climbers were very nice too. Sometimes you don't know what an environment will be like with little kids (cursing, and such)...I was very impressed. They tried to stick to the Green path (the Beginner level) but it was a little hard for the 6 year old to find enough green pegs within reach for her. This was not a real issue as she was able to use other colored pegs to maneuver around. I was prepared for this as I had read either on their site or from a reviewer that the placement of pegs was for adults. Overall, we all had a very nice time and will return!

I went for the first time this past week and absolutely loved it! The staff was friendly, and the facility was so clean. I will definitely be back again!

The Rock Mill is the best bouldering gym I have been to yet. I climbed here about once a week while living with my family over the summer. They are about 45 minutes away from Akron, but the drive was definitely worth it!

Plenty of bouldering space with good turnover rate, creative route setting across all difficulties (I felt like I always had at least a few fun projects), and friendly staff. I also took part in their first King of the Mill comp and it was a blast! :)

Why couldn't you have been there when I was a student at U of A!?! :-p
