It has been 2 days since I decided to sign up for the Adult Boxing class at 715PM and I am still slightly sore, but I feel great! I lift weights, run, and play sports almost daily, however, this has been my best workout in the last year. Shoot it may be my best workout in the last two years.
Coach Terry who managed my class of three pushed us hard. He was very encouraging when my form sucked or when my arms felt like I was wearing armor and I had to hit the speed bag. The workout was about an hr and half, but it flows smoothly. The plan is listed clearly on the chalkboard in the building.
Now Cape Fear Boxing is not new, but this location apparently is. The space is not done. The heavy bags were not up yet and the boxing ring has not been installed. I don't know how it will all end up looking. That is why I left a less then perfect score. After speaking with Coach Rasheed it doesn't seem like too big of a deal if they never do. He could probably whoop anybody into shape with the equipment they have out at the moment.
I was pretty happy with the prices that they have classes set at as well. It is not as cheap as gyms like Golds or O2, but when you are getting the attention of Coach Terry you'll understand why. I have only been once, but I can imagine Coach Terry working with me to make sure my elbows come back down, or my steps aren't too large. I can see the coaching staff pushing me to speed up down the street and that is why it costs more. There are different options for paying as well. I am not the biggest spender, but this place holds value.
All in all I am very happy I decided to come in and I can't stress enough how good a commitment to Cape Fear Boxing will end up leaving your body and mind. I can't wait to go back.
