Honestly, as a gym facility I love Fitness Connection. The women's workout room could stand some more air flow as it smells very musty and damp, but other than that I enjoy the facility itself. However, the business and customer service aspects of this location definitely need some improvement. Now, please note that I am fully aware that $1 is not the end of the world and seems like a petty thing to judge a business by, however the events unfolding around said $1 have definitely tarnished my opinion of this business. Fitness Connection has my credit card info on file in order to charge me the monthly fee. I have never purchased anything from FC other than a membership, no water, no t-shirts, no protein, etc. However, on July 3 I was charged $1 for a bottle of water when I was not even present at the gym. I called to ask for assistance because I did not know what the charge was for and was told it was water, i stated that I did not purchase water and they told me that since they could not verify if I had or had not purchased the water that they could offer me a free bottle on my next visit, which made me chuckle because it would not be free, since I have paid $1. Anyway, I asked if they had a record of me checking into that location as I have not yet gone to FC in the month of July and I was told that they did not have a check in. My point....how is it possible that something got charged to my account, without my permission, when I wasn't even present at this business on the day the transaction took place. Even though the item in question is a $1 bottle of water, no one has any idea how this happened and they can't refund me. So, what happens when this inevitably happens again and it is a more substantial charge, am I just supposed to keep accepting water bottles, and protein, and t-shirts that I didn't ask for because somehow my account gets charged without my permission? Ultimately I disputed the charge with my credit card company and they refunded the measly $1. What hasn't been remedied is the fact that I feel like my private information isn't being taken care of at Fitness Connection. The fact that someone can charge me for something when I'm not even present at the gym, when I am still in possession of my key tag, and no one else has access to the key tag is alarming to me. What is also extremely disappointing is that this issue is being dismissed because it's only $1, just come get a bottle of water they say.....well the water isn't the issue here. Terrible customer service all the way around and honestly it is sad that all of this occurred over $1.
