Have been going for about 8 weeks now. The main reason I selected Planet Fitness was because they offer the 30 minute workout, which is great for beginners like me. Trouble is, it's more like 40 a minute workout as you have to spend 10 minutes complaining to the staff to have someone monitor those that use the machines and don't move on.
I did complain that they do not monitor the equipment and was told they only have two people up front and time for only one of them to walk around every 30 minutes. Really?! How about hiring more staff then if you don't have the time to monitor the equipment more regularly (which is what your posted signs say you do).
Seriously thinking about trying another gym as I go to the gym to workout not to have to stop and complain to the staff every 10 minutes. I don't really have the time.

I enjoy going to this location. The staff is friendly and helpful. The equipment is cleaned and well maintained.

Equipment is good, and atmosphere is nice. Little busier location I think that is due to being close to the college. Sometimes a wait to use machines but not usually long people seem to be conscious of not holding up machines. Tanning beds aren't cleaned by staff regularly, or wiped down by customers after use. I always have to clean before I get in, you can see hand prints and sweat marks and I always clean after I get out. No scales in bathrooms which I feel there should be. Staff can sometimes leave you waiting for their attention but for the most part are pretty attentive and polite.

They are always pleasant at the front desk. Lot's of cardio machines every time of day when I go.

This location does not have the big ceiling fans. So if you like to sweat this is your place. All of the other PFs I've been to have the big ceiling fans and are much more likeable b/c of it.
Attn owners: please add some ceiling fans TY. Otherwise you have a 5 star here.

The best part is the open 24 hours. Good machine and helpful if you ask. Best to go at off peak hours.

This is my favorite location to go to in Charlotte. The staff is very friendly. I never have to wait for a tanning bed. And every machine I want to use is available when I need it.

It was a gym all right, but the only thing I was remotely pleased with was the 30 minute workout set up they have. It's neat!

Just here to say the tanning beds are still trash :) they gave updated come equipment and the facility though ---I have been going to this gym for like 5 years and in the beginning I thought it was fine because it was the first gym I had been to. However, after visiting other PFs throughout charlotte and in Wilmington and Myrtle Beach I realize this is one of the lower end gyms. The equipment is outdated (something always seems to be down) and the tanning beds are literally from like 2001. I laid in the bed for the first time of the season a few weeks ago and even though there were "new bulbs" and I laid the full "15 minutes allowed" my pasty self was the exact same coming out. In other words...don't even waste your time. I am going to venture out to the Concord location even though it's 20 mins away vs 5 min down the road but if the amenities are better it will be worth it until another one opens closer or the University location gets it together.

got sum great scenery, but its very hard to workout there during peak hours. They have plenty of cardio equipment but very few dumbells. People are circuit training and will take dumbells away for hours. Mgmt only cleans and checks people in. None of the pf guidlines are being followed Fitness connection is doing 10$ down and 10$ a month So I am outta there. The univ fitness connection has a movie theater in it!!!!!!

TERRIBLE GYM The staff spends more time upfront talking than putting the weights away. I dont really blame them as Pf continues to pay less than mcdonalds. I go to pf and FC Fc really has no rules and thats the way it is. Pf has rules but at this location they are not at all enforced. wifi only works when its very uncrowded.

I joined at this location bc it was a great area of Charlotte! However my last visit I was disappointed the facility was dirty, dirt and dust was built up on the machines (several)! I will not be visiting this location again anytime soon

I don't go to the gym to make friends. As far as the crowd, I'm a 4:30 AM guy, and there weren't many people there. The gym was clean, so I don't get the other reviews on here about it being dirty. I did find it annoying that the cable machine attachments did not have a rack. They were just lying on the floor. They have a perfect empty spot for a rack too. Also they didn't have the mid-weights, like 17.5, 22.5, 27.5, etc... They also didn't have individual TV screens on the bike machines, but instead, large TV's on the ceiling. Maybe this feature is just something I'm used to at my gym. Just an FYI...
The ab circuit area is very nice. Overall I was impressed with this place.
I'm visiting from NY on business and found this gym to be very nice. Didn't interact with the staff, but they seemed friendly enough. I still think my hometown LaGrange NY PF is the best, but this was a decent home away from home.

There's literally not enough weights or benches in this place, I usually go to the of in Kannapolis bc it's clean and not completely slammed to the point you have to wait 45 mins to use some equipment

I LOVE Planet Fitness. This location is close to home and I rarely have to wait long for a machine. Can't beat $10 a month. The stair master is my favorite!

Staff was very friendly and they were always packed. Being 247 allowed me to go whenever I wanted. I never really had to wait long to use a machine even during peak hours. For the price you cant beat it. And you get unlimited tanning with the black card.

I was a bit skeptical about joining PF near campus after reading all the reviews on here. So before joining I got a 3 day pass at lifetime to compare and I was previously a fitness connection member. Since I am student I couldnt afford payig 30 a month at lifetime so I decided to go with planet fitness. I must say it exceeded my expectations. Gym is very clean staff is very friendly and informative. They answered all the questions I had prior to joining PF. I have been going there for a week now and I absolutely enjoy working out there. My experience there has been great so far. You see very diversed crowd in there. I normally go when the gym is not so busy to get a good workout in. $10 a month for clean gym that has all the equipment to stay fit is a steal. I hope this helps anyone who is contemplating about joining PF near campus.

Pros
- CLEAN. staff is keeping the gym spotless
- CARDIO The cardio equipment is all brand new, hard to beat that for 10$ a month.
- ABS/OBLIQUES Many real gyms obviously have way more equipment than PF, except for abs. PF is the best place to work your core
Cons
The staff is not enforcing a lot of rules set by PF corporate. These rules are in place so that everyone can workout and have a positive experience. There is not a ton of equipment so it would be nice if staff regulated this more closely. The dumbells are supposed to stay in that section. They are NEVER where they are supposed to be. A lot of this falls on the members (who have terrible gym etiquette) but the staff, when possible needs to enforce this. Its not a big deal at other gyms because there is so much equipment, but at PF it needs to be enforced. They also do not enforce the CELL PHONE rule. I am a huge fan of this rule so I would love to see it enforced.
They have no rack to put their attachments. They just lay on the floor where people could easily trip over them.
WIFI is pretty rough. Do not expect it to work, if there are more than 50 people in the gym
This is not unique to this planet fitness but the members have HORRIBLE gym etiquette. Its a beginners gym, so you cant expect much more but be prepared. People are good about wiping stuff down but will monopolize machines for over an hour.
Planet fitness has a goal set to maintain a 60/40% female to male ratio. This gym HAS A LOT OF DUDES. Its more like 30/70 male to female

I have been going to this gym for 5 years and I have always found it great! The staff has always been super nice and pleasant to deal with and I have never found anything disgusting or unsanitary about the equipment. I tried the hydro message beds for the first time last week and the woman who ran the front desk showed me how everything works and was very kind. The only negatives to this gym that I can find is that it is a VERY busy gym. Lots of people go here and it can become quite crowded. They don't really seem to enforce any of their dress code standards so be prepared to see lots of girls in sports bras and guys in muscle tanks. Lastly there is usually some equipment that is "out of order" which can be frustrating but what can you expect them to do with so many people using there equipment. Overall I think they do a great job here and I enjoy my workouts

I have been a member at this club since it has opened. They have a lot of turnover. Some of them are pleasant and others act as if we are doing them a favor by coming to the gym. The woman's bathroom toilet seats need to be changed. They are so old at this point. They are probably the original ones from the day it opened its doors . The free WiFi is not so free. It hasn't worked in months. It doesn't work in any of the guns around town because I do frequent different gyms during the week.
