Great family facility!
Not sure what anyone is complaining about, Its a smaller YMCA with less equipment with also less people so equipment is always available . Steam Room and Sauna didn't work for a while because it was old equipment but they have a new sauna and a brand new steam room which to me personally is the best steam room and sauna in all of Charlotte . Highly recommend if you want a peaceful work out with less population. Definitely bring a lock or borrow one as its not in the safest area but other than that staff and gym is great. Kudos to Larry for making sure everyone has a good morning.
Just reopened my Y account after being gone for a year. I wasnt too happy with the rates in conjunction with the level of service. Decided to give it another try. Walked into the Simmons and the young lady at the front desk was super nice and directed me to the Executive Director office to obtain my cards. I walked in and said "hello" she looks at me...NO "hello"..NO "can you please give me a moment"..just says very rudely "you will need to give me a few minutes" and walks right past me...HUH????...this is off to another horrible start.

I went to the outdoor pool today with my daughter who is 3yrs old. When they did the "adult swim" break, my daughter had to get out. She was sitting on the edge of the zero entry part of the pool and her toes were in 1 inch of water and the lifeguard yelled at us. Why is it ok that I (and other adults) are in the pool but my daughter can't sit next to me and put her toes in the water? That is a little ridiculous. I've been to other locations and we were allowed to sit in the water at the zero entry area during the break. They need to lighten up. The pool was clean and other than that, it was an enjoyable time.

The simmons ymca is a community, everyone knows each other and its just a good place to be. I have been playing sports here for 9 years i highly reccomend it
This is a very friendly environment and an ideal place to exercise. I really enjoy hanging out here on a regular basis.

Im being generous giving this branch 3 stars. The equipment in the fitness center is VERY minimal. Im talking one bench for the entire dumbell area minimal. Its a shame the weight room here is such a joke because this location is very close to my house and would be very convenient if I was able to get a decent workout in.
The staff here is great about building community. They learn your name and treat you like family.
The same way that the different branches cater to their communities, this branch def. appeals to the older E. Charlotte folks. The equipment is pretty standard, fewer options than other branches. Most of the classes are earlier in the morning/afternoon. Lots of Zumba and yoga, easy on the joints type of stuff.
The upside is that it's rarely packed. Although if you come in the morning some of the senior citizen regulars can be a little territorial, so a run-in a with an elderly person who either wants to befriend or yell at you during a HIIT routine is inevitable. The staff is usually pretty cool about letting them know that the Y is for everyone. Love this place!
I have been a member for years and tried the Strength Train Together class today. Wow it was an awesome workout. Great insructor, thanks Tammy!
I've never had nothing short of a great experience there. I've left and come back. The classes are wonderful, I go early am when I get off so the facility is clean at that time. Oh and I dare not give Mr. Larry his KUDOS!!!! I truly adore him and he is a ray of sunshine on any given day. Keep being you Mr. Larry, you're appreciated.... However I have noticed some reviews "indicating" they're paying customers??? Aren't we all paying customers??? Insert emoji eyes
Swim class instructor needs instruction training. Pool should be adequately cleaned. Steam room constantly breaks down. Weight and exercise is good. Personnel is personal and very friendly. Members as well.

Has warm pool and good equipmentd

Great outside pool. The exercise facility is nice, too, but we usually come here to swim.
