I tried the free pass and went in a couple times to work out. Gym was decent. Prices were expensive but it's uptown so what can you expect. I needed to find a gym close to home. After deciding to join the gym, a couple of days later, I went in to do the paperwork and was actually talked out of it by a fast talking salesmen which happens to be the GM. His pushy upsell attitude made me very cautious. I don't like being pushed into making a purchase so I left. After careful consideration, I accepted all the gyms flaws and came back in, where I saw a different front desk agent was very unhelpful and customer service was lacking. I was on the fence about this gym at first but the last experience made my decision for me. I can't justify paying so much monthly (and a semi annual "Gym improvement fee") with the service being so bad.

Love this gym! Terron & Daniel are always so friendly, and helpful. Been here for going on a year, and the only issue I've had has been with the parking garage staff. Otherwise the gym and staff are awesome!

I had joined this gym in March of 2016. During my time at the gym, the machines were not maintained very well - especially the treadmills. There was also always something not functioning in the men's shower room, whether it was individual showers or the steam room. For a gym that has the audacity to charge a $50 "maintenance" fee every six months, this gym should have been in better shape. Also - during my seven months of being a member at this gym, I had 2 pairs of Beats headphones, an iPhone and $80 stolen from my locker. I got to the point where I stopped leaving my items in the lockers and started to carry it around with me inside of the gym. On top of that - I got a job that moved me across the country and cancelled my gym membership. It is over a year and a half later and I just found out that I have a delinquent account with this very gym for not cancelling my membership - despite the fact that I sent them a letter with confirmation of my cancellation and paid the $50 cancellation fee. Now - I am STILL getting the run around on this issue. This is disgraceful and really shows a complete lack of respect for your customers. This is a gym - it's ALL about the customer! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!

I have enjoyed my experience at this gym a lot. The staff (esp. Daniel & Terron) have been extremely helpful and nice. I would recommend this gym to anyone who wants to workout in a clean, judgement free, and focused setting.

Best gym in Charlotte overlooking Epicenter and the city. Great staff, equipment and amenities.

I wish I could give less than one star. I never write reviews but these thieves warrant this information being given out. This gym and ABC financial are nothing but crooks. My contract with this gym expired in 2015, I stopped going not long after bc the locker room was gross and many of the features they mentioned when I joined never happened. So I finally got around to cancelling last year and gold's basically ignored me. I had to go to ABC financial who told me I had to pay the next month also to cancel plus some "club fee". I asked for proof I had to pay this money to cancel being that I was not under contract and the operator sputtered and had nothing to say. She did cancel my membership however and I blocked them from my bank for good measure. Well....they continued to try to charge money and FREAKED OUT when I blocked them from my account. It was almost hilarious how pathetic they were.

At least 50 emails, calls etc... Now, 6 months later and they are sending some collections office after me saying I owe $300 LOL. They have completely lied and said I never cancelled and have made up charges. I called the collections law office and they were huge jerks and would not tell me how to dispute bc they said they had proof I did not cancel my membership and that I was still under contract? The guy was a total psycho. He said "why would I tell you how to dispute when we have proof it's real". When I asked for proof he said he couldn't tell me despite the fact I have actual proof I did speak with ABC financial and cancel. The extent this gym is going to lie and try to get $300 from a person that has not set foot in there for years is truly astounding. But that's what con-artists do. I am disputing this debt and refuse to give them one penny. Needless to say, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING FROM THESE CROOKS! Look them up on Better Business Bureau, hundreds of complaints just like this one. Is this really what you want to deal with just to go work out? Plenty of no contact options around.

I was in town for a couple days and they accommodated my needs perfectly. Great service, great gym. Also love crushing iron above all the gluttony below!!!

Do not sign a contract here. I started coming here because I was taking the bus and it was convenient to the bus line. Then I moved where there are no bus lines and tried to cancel but since it was 2 miles away from the cut off distance then too bad. Don't bother calling to talk to someone about your membership because no one will answer just don't pay then they will have no problem reaching you. I would rather have an account go into collections then give this place another dime.

I had been a member of this gym since it opened for business in 2012. I would highly recommend Charlotte Athletic Club instead. Otherwise, the Childress Klein YMCA is another solid Uptown Charlotte option. I hope some day that this Gold's location will improve, but in the 6 years I have been a member there, it has never met my expectations. If you are visiting Uptown Charlotte and have an existing Gold's membership - you can get a good workout here - get in, get out, shower/shave at your hotel. However, if you will be living/working here and you are looking for a long term, good value gym, you have much better options Uptown.

Pretty good gym. Staff is very friendly. I just wish you could see local sports while working out. Like Panthers, Hornets games.

I've been at this golds since i first moved to Charlotte in august and its the best looking gym I've been at. My first day the employees were so welcoming; almost like family. In order to make progress you have to feel at home and i feel at home here at golds gym epicenter. I look forward to making more gains here!!

Great Gym with cool equipments! Love the cardio cinema room. The staff, especially the front desk is super nice and helpful. Seems like the new gm actually tries to get things fixed and is friendly. Awesome location too!

This is a bad ass gym. Can't beat the views of the city, the energetic staff and being in the heart of Charlotte.

I joined near Day one - I have seen the place go through many "phases" - at one point the cleanliness and lack of just basic sanitary stuff was so bad I reached out to the owner directly - and I will say changes were made and it got really good. Cleaning staff changed, had some really good front desk staff (who I believe have left) it later seemed to go downhill again and I as well as many others complained - and it then later got better. This wasnover a period of 3-4 years. I left there as I moved out of state - came back couple months ago after about a year and it was definitely not in great shape, steam spa stunk and was filthy, dry sauna was falling apart - the men's locker room was still hot as hell as it's always been (due to the poor design of where the heat exchange is done from the AC, and the Windows) not to mention the chill/cold room which we all know isn't happening, if you can't make the locker room under 80 how are you going to create a room on that same room at 50 degrees - yes I'm an engineer actually. Likely going back today for a day pass as I'm in town. So maybe I'll report back later. But my two cents is here take the people who do a good job and incentivize them to stay, keep things clean in locker room.....to some positives, the equipment is generally in good working order and they have some extremely nice equipment

Worst experience ever!

Gold's Gym staff act so nice at the beginning, so you sign up. BUT it's a contract house. You are NOT signing up for a Gym. You are signing up with ABC Financial Bank. They own your contract, and there is NO way out unless you move far away from any Golds Gym OR are disabled.

Showers are terrible here. They also have workout drinks, but they always out of powder mixes. (if you can ever find someone to serve it to you).

When you first go in and talk with them, they make it urgent; they say this deal will only last until the weekend. But it is BS. It's a lie. These guys are incentivized to get their quota for the month. They will tell you anything so that you will SIGN the contract. But be WARNED. They do not show you the contract "entirety" They show you it on a small screen that has some bullet points and a signature line.

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT FOR A GYM. There are many better options out there without contracts. These guys will eventually have to change their model for them to stay current. I've been to many gyms. Gold's Gym is by far the worst in customer service. Try and give them a call? I think not. No one will answer. There isn't even a main customer service line that is active.

By the way. I think they purchased "fake" reviews for Google that's why they are averaging close to four stars. When you look at all the "Real" reviews; they are all one star.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM - BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!
Do not join this gym. The problems with this location are numerous.
Management turnover is high. I've been a member for 3 months and have seen 3 different general managers. Parking is an issue, this facility is in the epicenter and will validate parking for 2 hours - which is great. However, often they don't open on time so you spend 30 - 60 minutes waiting for them to the open the doors and they cannot extend the validation to accommodate their delay. They cannot seem to hire good people that show up on time. When you express frustrations or complain, management simply offers a free smoothie.

The equipment is poorly maintained. Much of pads/seats are torn and can cut you if you aren't careful. The locker rooms aren't cleaned regularly - as evident by the STRONG mildew/mold smell coming from the men's locker area and steam room. There is mold in the steam room and is always littered with trash. The showers frequently are out of soap. The towels are tattered and worn. They make you sign them out. This place is disgusting. The sauna does not have flooring. Just the concrete floors which is disgusting. They tell you everything is under repairs...to date nothing has been fixed.

After two months of complaining to the general managers, I escalated my concerns to the corporate office. Unfortunately, they have a "customer care" team (Bonnie) who refuses to give the name/contact information of the management team. Are they hiding because they know the poor services? I've been to many Gold's Gym's across the country, this is the worst. Gold's Gym should do a better job of screening the franchise owners, this location has given this organization a bad name in Charlotte. I've now escalated to the NC State Attorney General - clearly the issues show a misrepresentation and is grounds to terminate the contract. The salesperson made it clear they were renovating and updating. Nothing has been done.

I've been going to this gym for about a year and I can't wait to get out of my contract. The place is always filthy, the showers are disgusting and look like they haven't been clean in years. The sauna smells so bad it makes you want to throw up. There is NEVER any towels available and when they are they look dirty. Multiple times I've stood at the counter waiting for someone to make a shake and even though there is employees around none of them say I'll be with you in a minute. It's like they avoid contact with you hoping you will go away. Yesterday I stood there for 5 minutes (I counted) and there was two employees standing on the other side of the counter. They didn't say one word to me so after the 5 minutes I just walked away. I can't count how many times the soap dispensers have been empty in the bathroom. They don't repair the equipment in a timely manner. The fans in the locker room are absolutely ridiculous and barely work at low speed. They put a small fan in there and they hardly work because they have so much filth in the vents (About 3 millimeters worth of crud). The sauna smells so bad it makes you want to throw up. Did I mention there is never any towels..... My standards may be high because I'm prior military but if I was healthy inspector I'd fine this place or shut it down until they get it cleaned properly. Oh yeah one more thing. They offered me a free month of membership when I signed up to write a review. They can keep that money. Here's a review folks!

Been with them a year they are great good amount of machines to work with. I generally use the boxing bag and go up to hit the weights. Nice showers queit and clean. Staff is cool not too many of them there but they cool. Only problem I have is time they close too early on weekends and Friday. Overall looking to get a great workout solo then I recommend it plus right at the epicenter.
