Ditto to all the remarks that this gym steals your money if you try to cancel. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! It is not worth the hassle!

Connor is a great trainer (Meghan too!) he always pushes me to do better while not being over the top. Only downside is with the Aldi now parking can be tough sometimes. I also am so impressed with some of the people who work out here sometimes I think they're ninjas

Been going here for about three months. Very clean. Lots of well kept equipment. If it was open 24 hrs it would be incredible! Still, the hours are solid for what I do. Would definitely recommend

This gym is awesome!!! I love all the amenities and the friendly staff. I highly recommend this gym. Shout out to Will C. and Robb for making my time at the gym more pleasurable. Will C. helps you incredibly any time you have a question or concern. And Robb is an excellent Body Combat teacher.

The recent construction has made Fitness Connection look like a whole new gym! They brought in new machines and equipment, the child care area looks amazing and they have a cool new turf room! From private training to classes to free weights everyone can find something they will like. There is even a movie room with cardio machines so you can relax and enjoy your favorite flick while getting your sweat on!

I was incredibly unhappy with my experience at Fitness Connection in Cary. Here are a few things you should know.

1 - The staff's culture is incredibly salesman like, even after you've joined. If you think the promotional phone calls and text messages are annoying, they continue that approach inside the gym. I had staff members walk up to me in the weight room wanting to talk to me about my workout and my routine.

2 - The price is right, but if you want to cancel there's a $37 fee. I don't recall being informed of this. Maybe I was, but that's still a very tacky deterrent to keep members.

3 - It's not very clean. My girlfriend complained to the staff on numerous occasions about how filthy the women's restroom was. A manger responded with excuses regarding their staffing and provided no solution. That was weeks ago and my understanding is that it's in the same state.

4 - They do have several workout options (weight room, functional fitness and machines) but they're not all open at certain times. Personally, I was excited about the functional fitness room, but it was closed most afternoons when I was there after work. If that's something you intend on utilizing I recommend finding out what hours it's closed.

There really was no one big occurrence that lead to my cancellation. The salesman-like culture of the staff, lack of cleanliness of the gym, and inaccessibility to the functional fitness room all contributed to my decision. The final $37 convenience fee was the straw that broke the camel's back, leading me to write this review and say what I really think. I would recommend not charging unhappy customers who want to leave a fee that is costlier than the monthly membership.

Left the Y and began here July '18. Can get crowded, but I've never waited more than one minute for a machine (gotta be flexible and switch it up anyway). I lift only 3 X's/wk. and the machines are well maintained. The staff (and really everyone there) is friendly. But it's the guys in the free-weight area that could be intimidating but are actually all very courteous and helpful. My college-aged daughter had to put her membership on "hold" b/c she went back to college and it was a breeze. The locker rooms are large and clean and the showers are exceptionally roomy with great hot water. Very happy w/this place. Keep up the great work!

I went to Fitness Connections, Cary to decide if my fmaily wanted to join. It was just me investigating the gym. 2 staffs member talked down to me. There is no way that i would be comfortable having my family go to this gym. It was a surprising and shocking experience.

Very disappointed in my visit today at this location. Needless to say I have been coming here as a guest with my S/O for the past 10 months and the staff have been nothing but awesome and friendly. Big shoutout to Kaitlyn for her assistance. She is definitely the one you will want to speak with while utilizing this facility. Cutting to the chase: Today, July 31st around 1:30 PM I experienced the worst customer service from the moment I walked into the facility. Madison was definitely new but definitely had a MAJOR attitude issue. As I didn't like being spoken to the way I was I asked to speak to a manager, Russel. The conversation with Russel accomplished nothing and he was absolutely no help. Moments later words spurred between the three of us. He also threatened to terminate my boyfriends membership who was only a bystander. Unfortunately, this situation could've been handled a better way but as they say there is always room for improvement. I have followed up with copperate and hopefully there will be a friendly, attentive new staff in the near future. Like I said, previous to these employees the staff was awesome (especially Kaitlyn)!

Makes it really hard to recommend this gym at all- shady and predatory pricing to new guests. So much for that. Classes they offer can be nice, but don't expect any room on the gym floor for what you pay.

Been with FC for years. Lots of options for cardio and weights at a great price. I was sad to see basketball court go but replacement area is really cool. Towels were offered until recently which I thought was a nice touch plus increased likelihood of people toweling off equipment. Staff is solid; my son worked with Sid who is top notch.

I couldn't even enjoy the free trial. I was ready to purchase a gym membership but noticed the membership manager was TOO eager for me to sign on. I knew the right decision was to default on the free-trail because there was probably something I wasn't aware about. The GM had to talk to the consultant to straighten things out and give me a free trial.

I used the gym that day during peak hours and it was PACKED, oh btw lots of folks standing around and talking about steroids in the free weights section. I decided to try the gym on Six Forks the next day and that was dirty and had very old equipment...and the men's showers smelled like piss.

Overall, they need to be cleaner and focus on the customers goals...not their own quotas.

Fitness connection Cary is the best gym I've been too. The front desk staff is amazing very friendly and helpful if you ever need anything Ashley always has a smiling face and makes me laugh the personal trainers are also excellent and has helped me reach my fitness goals thank you Cid and Nora.

You get what you pay for. Gym equipment and space like this isn't cheap. It's inevitable that this gym will sell more memberships than it's building can support. Along with little to no frills, that's how the $10 a month gyms stay profitable (see planet fitness for another example). Keep your expectations realistic, read contract, and you'll be fine. The one stars here are left by folks who are looking for a refund or didn't do their due diligence when researching the gym.

This Gym only cares about your money. Once you sign a contract, you are in trouble. If you have the personal trainer for 3 to 6 months, or a year, make sure to go online to cancel the contract after the time has expired; otherwise, they keep adding more sessions without your consent. I guess you have to read the contract carefully before signing. Very dissatisfied with this place.

I signed up 5 months ago and my membership was canceled on the second month without even knowing because I disputed an overcharged transaction. After 3 months of this cancellation, they charged me again for the same amount that I already disputed plus a $20 fee!! using another credit card I had on file. It's really a shame for a business to build an untrusted atmosphere for its customers. I had no issues with the management exept the billing department! I do not recommend this GYM, stay away and look for a professional one.

I only give it 2 stars because it's so cheap, otherwise it would be 1. It is pretty crowded, especially in the free weight area and it seems like this is regardless of time. The parking sucks and they don't supply towels anymore. It's not the cleanest place as people generally don't clean their machines but the staff doesn't do so either when they work out (I've witnessed this multiple times). When the trainers have clients, they don't wipe the machines and they don't remind their clients to do so either. This is the first gym where I've ever seen this happen and I've had memberships at Lifetime, O2 and Planet Fitness. The staff is generally unhelpful and unfriendly except for maybe 2 people but it's super cheap and in a convenient location so I deal with it all for now.

Update 1/20/18 New Cons 1) No more towel service, which really bothers me. I am imagining a restaurant with no toilet paper, gross! I have been members of three clubs that all have gone out of business, all three cut towel service, so this may be an indicator. 2) Movie room has be hindered by finances again. So most likely the projector burned out, and a replacement was probably too expensive. So they just bought a generic 50" LCD TV and stuck it up. Smaller screen, light bleeds through and bad viewing angle, but the worse part is you can't hear the audio, as they didn't connect the audio back to the speakers in the ceiling, Also why not an 80" TV? It's not like it was an OLED TV, is an additional $300 too much? The TV is too small to be a movie room that's for sure. 3) Management, I swear there is a new manager every six months. Which sucks, as immediately the new manager wants to show how awesome he is, by increased profits and reducing costs. Which works for maybe 2 quarters, but now you are losing customers as you have most past parity. That means your product is higher priced then an equivalent product by a competitor. In other words pushing people to Planet Fitness as I most likely do as well if they keep eliminated services. My suggestion is the following. Dear owners, it's all about upgrading, say this to all of your customers. "In order to make our gym accessible to everybody we are reducing our base membership which does not included a towel, but you as a loyal customer we are happy to offer you a free 6 month membership to our silver membership that includes one free towel per day, along with a 30% discount if you wish to continue your silver membership. See nobody can complain you took something away, as you are making it cheaper, but for those who want it better they now have options. Conclusion, check out Planet Fitness as I doubt things are going to get better. Star reduced to 3/5
Updates 7/2/16 It's now 4 star club at a 3 star price.
Pros: the members there are actually pretty cool and serious about fitness. Much more then lifetime. Movie room is great with speakers along the length of the ceiling so you can always hear no matter your location.
Crossfit room... Best way I can describe it.. New awesome bumper plates and nice rouge fitness equipment everywhere and its soft turf surface, gone is the dirty thug magnet basketball court.
Kids club seems pretty cool
Cons: It's only 3 star clean, think motel 6 so clean but no freaking spotless . Also con is they open late and close early on weekends. Conclusion it's a good deal for sure especially the $10 special if you can get it, not sure when they goes but I remember seeing a sign for it twice a year

I will give this facility 3/5 because it's a good value for the extremely low monthly fee. I personally haven't had membership/fee issues, which seem to be what the majority of the 1-star ratings are about....

The space/crowd issues are a little frustrating, especially in the free weight section -- there's a single large cable-station that gets really jammed up. Meanwhile in the main room, there are two sets of mostly identical machines. OTOH, I'm glad the basketball court was changed over to Crossfit-stuff.

Cleanliness is OK. At some point they decided to discontinue towel service, so bring your own, or use paper towels....

Overall, it's a good gym, I think -- if your expectations are commensurate with cost, you'll be pleasantly surprised; if you expect a high-end spa-type facility, with pool, etc., at this price-point....

I've been going to this gym for a couple of months now and it's a good gym. The class instructors are great and the classes usually aren't packed and people are front are friendly. I like that they offer a
lot of Les Mills classes. Also have met a lot of long time members there that like the gym. I signed up for cheapest package of $10/month and have been happy so far.

It's a nice facility however the free weight room gets way too crowded. I am looking at joining another gym specifically for this reason.

Note to management: it's great that business is good however you've reached critical mass and need to rethink how the gym is set up.

Here's a thought - Why not swap the turf room with the free weight room? Sure you'd spend some money making the switch, but why dedicate prime real estate to anything but the heaviest traffic area?

I've been a member of this gym for a little over 2 months and so far the experience has been a positive one. the members are pleasant, serious about their training and the gym has pretty much all you need to train. It could use some upgrades and some added equipment, but overall, not bad for the price. Customer service has been very good. Especially Katie Christian!
She always welcomes members with a smile, answers questions and concerns promptly and professionally, and always has a great attitude. Katie definitely adds an element of joy to my trips to the gym.
There is also another gentleman named Chris that works the front desk who helped me the other day with his jumper cables and was super helpful and patient. Great guy! Also very pleasant and positive!

The facility is about what you would expect. They have a large number of cardio machines, some nautilus type weight machines, free weights, and what I would describe as a crossfit type area with kettle bells, ropes, climbing pegs, etc.

If you're looking for a place to lift weights I'd consider looking elsewhere. The equipment is decent enough, but it's simply packed between 4-7 PM. This is expected to a degree, but if you want to lift during this time, you'll need to adjust your routine to fit what is available.

None of that sounds too bad, so why the 1 star? Because when you cancel your membership, you're actually giving a 30 day notice of cancellation. This means that even if you just paid your monthly fee, you'll be charged at least one more monthly fee before your membership is cancelled; if the annual fee falls in that 30 days, you'll be paying that too. This is simply a way to extract more money from the members. In this day-and-age they're going to pretend it takes 30 days to cancel a membership? Why do this? It leaves a sour taste in the members' mouths, and I'll never rejoin this gym again because of it.

UPDATE 10/20/2017: In response to the owner's comment, when I cancelled my membership, I did call the customer service line once I realized it would be a 30 day notice. On the phone I requested an immediate cancellation, which they informed me they wouldn't do. Frustrated, I asked what they would do if I had my credit card do a charge back on the extra monthly fee. The representative informed me they would send me to collections if I did that.

I have not tried calling again. It shouldn't require posting a negative google review in order to get decent customer service.

The classes have been GREAT. Body flow, body pump, and body combat are fantastic. The instructor Robb and Erin, are wonderful. Management however needs to be reconsidered. My first encounter was through my sister in law when she asked about changing her membership. She was asked why did she sign up for a plan that included tanning if she wasn't going to use it. I'm sorry but that is not something you say to your customers. It's not their business. The second encounter was about a 7 day pass I received on a card. It was not mentioned to me that it needed to be used consecutively nor was it stated on the card. I was told if I didn't want to pay the 99 dollar enrollment fee, there was not another option for me. Then I was told I needed to pay a day use pass. No. Both of these encounters involved Noah. Someone need to pull him aside and teach him how to talk to would be clientele.
