When I heard initially that we were going to do the annual Fit Club at Fore Performance, i was like " what the heck is that"?? Going into Fore Performance for the first time reminded me of Adventure Land at Walt Disney World, minus the jungle cruise. It really is a hidden gem here in Rochester, tucked away in the back of Winton Place (Henrietta). We were greeted immediately by Breanna, and Ryan Steenberg who is the owner of Fore Performance. If there was an embodiment of a perfect male specimen, it would be Ryan. For his age, he is becoming one of the most well known entrepreneurs in the Greater Rochester Area. No one knows the development of human movement, paired with golf fitness better then he does. Speaking of which, that is the concept of Fore Performance. After hearing his speech, I finally understood where I was. Before we got the tour of the facility, we all took full advantage of Karma Water/ KIND bars ( Thanks Karma Ladies, Keep Up that Tan!!).
James Peterson took charge of the tour for us, and was very informative every step of the way. James is the Membership Director at Fore Performance. He is the combination of Edgy, Smart, and Athletic. The first area of Fore consisted of the Virtual Reality Golf Simulators. It was like being on the real golf course minus the beer cart. It takes some practice, but once you get it, you can easily shoot the ball in the hole. Next to it, there is a putting range if you wanted to practice your short swing. The Fitness Center itself was sparkling clean, with innovative workout machines geared towards improving your golf swing. You saw a multitude of coaches training everyone from Teenagers to Senior Citizens. James told us they are planning on expanding the Fitness Center, doubling its size this year!! The locker rooms made you feel like you were in the Ritz Carlton, super swanky. I wanted to just roll around the carpet in circles for a second, but I contained myself. Once the grand tour was finished, we began our Fore Performance Boot-Camp Work-Out.
Our work-out was lead by Tim Coykendall. Tim is the Assistant Membership Director, and was quite the famous catcher back at his University. When it comes to baseball, this guy knows what he is talking about. Our work-out dealt with using our own body strength to get through a variety of physical fitness exercises. These exercises may look easy, but they test your endurance/strength. The next day I felt the soreness in all areas of my body. With some Yelp! teamwork, we made it through.
Overall: Great coaches/staff, Golf Simulators, Endurance Work-Out, Golf Oriented Fitness Machines, POSH bathrooms, 1 on 1 personnel training, KARMA water, and one heck of a sweat....I will be back.
