When I was 19 and eager to learn MMA i enjoyed the classes however, they forced me into a contract and the owner said after leaving a negative comment about the contract wrote, " never surprises me when drug addict fails to meet the challenge" cause I smoked weed along with half there other members. Well I'm legit fighter now and at a reputable that doesnt dupe you into contracts. Better places in the city for the amount you'll spend here and no contracts.
Trained at this gym before and while I enjoyed my time there training, when I had gotten a job offer in another state, they wouldn't allow me to suspend my account or allow me to cancel my time since I had to move. Wild to me that I had to pay full price still. Worse than any cell phone company contractually.
Jungle Gym has the best coaches and the best people.... as for the reviewers complaining about price, this isn't LA fitness this is a place where you will actually learn to fight alongside coaches who care about your development. Compare their price to any other MMA gym in the NYC area and it's cheaper here. And better.
Family friendly environment. I knew nothing coming to
The Jungle Gym and they all made me feel welcome and eager to work with me. My skill level has improved greatly in the short time I have attended. Looking forward to see how my body and mind can be pushed to new limits. Thank you Jungle Gym!
Everyone is great here and the energy is awesome! The training and knowledge you will gain at the jungle is very beneficial!
Master chim and the rest of the tribe in Jungle gym makes you grow as a person inside and outside the gym no better place to learn how to fight
Its a nice place everyone is so nice the only probelm is you have to pay like 200 dollars a month

The owners responses should be enough to dissuade anyone from joining this school.
It is one of the best gym i had ever trained at. They offer everything from striking 2 jui jitsu which is practical for since i do security..

horrible customer service!!!! they continue to charge me even though my son never attended any of their classes!
Was offered a free 45 day trail but they refused to tell me the cost until signed a contract
Big rip off, stay away from this place. I was told that I have a 45 day window to cancel but when it came down to actually canceling there were a million stipulations, so basically they lied to my face about the cancelation policy. There are other more legit professional gyms in the area, you're better off going to one of those
I am writing this review in order to clarify many of the speculations I am reading on these reviews.
I started JG when I was 21 years old. The owner, MC, had a pretty good relationship with my brother and I when I started my journey in BJJ. I and my brother would train together on and off and I started to develop a liking for bjj. Unfortunately, my brother and MC didn't see eye to eye anymore and my brother no longer trains at JG. This left me in a weird place. Do I leave because my brother no longer was part of the school? Or do I stay and continue on my journey? MC, the owner, toke me into his office and spoke to me about the situation. He wasn't disrespectful towards me, he didn't blame me for anything, and he encouraged me to think about what I wanted to do. He gave me a respectful option, cancel my contract, with no fees, or continue to train. On the same day, going with my emotions, I told him I will no longer train here.
After leaving the JG, I went off in a search for a good school. Some people say JG is expensive. Well compare to what I found, and I searched in Manhattan and the Bronx, I was getting a decent deal at JG. I finally found another school in the Bronx. It was cheaper and more convenient. It wasn't far from my house, and they had judo. Well, after training in the school for three months, it just wasn't the same. The guys in this school were great guys, but it wasn't the same experience I had in JG.
After much hisitation, I called JG and they kindly accepted me back. Now during this time, I hated my job and I wanted to do something about it. So I decided to join the Army National Guard, don't do it by the way. Waste of time. I informed the coaches of my plans and how it would affect my contract. They simply asked me to bring in documentation. I brought in the documentation and they cancelled my membership with no fees.
After my return, I went back to JG and trained for a year until I decided I wanted a serious change. I decided to go away and enroll into a truck driving school in Colorado. Again, I informed the coaches of my situation. They simply ask me to bring in documentation. I did and they cancelled my contract again! With no extra fees! After being away and traveling for a year, I finally am back home with a career. And after changing my situation from something I didnt like, to something I do like, I returned to JG. And guess what? They kindly accepted me back with open arms.
-Cancellation fee which they don't bother mentioning.
-Not allow to freeze your membership, even if you are injured.
-To take advance classes you must pay additional fees that will cost you more than any other gym in NYC.
-Head teacher rarely teaches.
-Striking classes is taught horribly.
