Mr and Mrs Mayo are very knowledgeable and caring for their students and try their best to teach Filipino style of martial arts.
The environment is very welcoming. You can tell the owners like teaching and want to help their students learn. And, the hours are great, especially for working parents.
I have been attending this place for a while and from day one felt comfortable and welcomed. The instructors are always professional and push students to improve their skills. Overall the place has a wonderful friendly atmosphere and I would recommend anyone who is considering joining a gym too attend this one Definitely worth it.
Happy to say that I started Mayo Academy at 135 lbs , 2 years later I lost 35 lbs.

Incredibly great, kind, family owned place. Whenever my son needs assistance with anything, they make sure they personally help out with whatever it is. Keep it up guys and I'll make sure we're here as much as we can be. I recommend this place to anyone and their kids.

I was one of the very first students, a pioneer. Sensei Jonas Mayo definitely has a lot to offer in sharing his skills in Martial Arts. First, he cares about what you will learn and adapt from him because he knows that a good reward comes after, that is always attached to a very good reputation. Until now from 1993, I still have the basic knowledge and skills that he have shared to me. And as a person who works in a very physically demanding hotel safety and security, I am very confident when it comes to defending myself and others in hand to hand combat, with a weapon or an empty hands when it is necessary. I owe it all to this man who consistently and persistently developed his skills in the world of Martial Arts to preserved life. I highly recommend this school to anyone who are willing to learn the various skills in self defense.

I have been coming here for about 5 months. Thanks to Mayo I have managed to lose weight. I was 170 and I am now 150. Sometimes I forget I am working out because I am having fun. I have learned how to defend myself and gained stamina. This place is a lot of fun, energetic and family oriented. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun way to lose weight and learn kickboxing. You really learn a lot here when it comes to skills and defending yourself.
Mayo Academy is a wonderful school. Very welcoming and family oriented. Both my daughter and nephew have trained there and still can recall their experiences there . They are now respectively 23 and 18. Mr.and Mrs. Mayo had a great impact on them. Now me being back in NY is thinking about joining for some kickboxing classes.
I'm honored to say I was amongst the very first students he ever taught, and proud to see how far he's come , I was given skills in my early twenties that continue to this day to shape, and mold my future, and help me be the man I am today, he has always treated all students like family no matter were they came from, and what backgrounds they had or didn't have in martial arts , he has always kept his schools immaculate in cleanliness ,and having equipment that helped in your development , his teachings helped me in developing my mental, physical, and emotional needs at the time I was growing as a Martial Artists, his commitment and dedication to his students, and their development in the Arts was always of the most important thing to him, I miss him as a student, and a dear friend , I recommend his school, and his teachings without hesitation, and hope your journey into the world of Martial Arts in his hands gives you the same beautiful experience I received when I was a student.

I love Mayo Academy! Sensei and his wife are two of the most supportive people I know. They never let you quit, never let you down and will push you through the blood, sweat and tears because they know and will always see your true potential.

Mayo Academy is the best around! They have the cleanest facilities and the staff is amazing!! You get an amazing full body workout every class all while learning how to defend yourself. I recommend Mayo Academy to everyone!!

Walked in and didn't know how to throw a punch, encouraged and taught by very welcoming staff who treat all their students like family, genuinely kind and caring staff. Very supportive and comfortable atmosphere. As time went on I looked back at where I started and could not believe how far I've come and how much I improved. I wouldn't want to be trained any place else. Money well spent. Highly recommend this academy.

This is a great place to bring your kids. Good instruction, family friendly and a great sense of community within the dojo. An added bonus is that a parent can workout while their child is taking classes.

Definitely a great program. Instructors with love and passion for the art in an awesome environment. Glad to have found such a great martial art family dedicated and focused in more than just a program. When you get into MayoMMA you are not only a student you become family. Highly recommended.
