Great studio.
I had a nice experience at this studio. Check in staff was informative and patient, I got there later than I wanted to, about 5min before class (still in work clothes) and was not given an attitude or rushed at all.
I didn't read these other reviews ahead of time but they wouldn't have stopped me from trying Y7. There's no shortage of warning that this class is held in the dark. If you've never done hot yoga, you should for sure not take a class in the dark - you won't be able to follow instructions like someone who has been through the motions at all. That's just silly. And they have adequate warnings all over the place for that.
And a vinyasa flow is supposed to be a repetitive sequence of poses. This is not a Y7-only situation. Not being informed before attending a class isn't a reason to think poorly rate a studio.
But any reasonable yogi will not be turned away by the comments made in the low rated reviews.
I found the ambiance a completely refreshing new spin on yoga for me. I've been practicing yoga and got yoga for 6 years and it was so cool to switch it up. I was informed immediately via email about the new client specials and I will definitely be taking Y7 up on one of them. The only drawback is the distance from work/my apartment to the locations. Not their fault, though.
The instructor was fabulous, her name was Kendra. She was not sassy that I crept into class a minute late, quite the opposite. I have experience at very militant hot yoga facilities. This was such a nice change. She made adjustments on each of us throughout class and helped us reach a deeper stretch when she could. She encouraged the class to do what we could and offered variations for those who were looking for a more intense or less intense pose. She led a wonderful class. I felt invigorated, well worked out, and peaceful walking out.
One thing I didn't like about class was that for each sequence, the song was interrupted and changed. That didn't do a whole lot of positive for my zen. I get the idea behind it, because the routine is changing up, but I found it disruptive to the flow for me personally.
The facility was very clean, trendy, and nicely decorated.
Highly recommend checking it out. If you go on their site and book a class, they'll let you know what to expect accurately and fully. Don't let the low star ratings here dissuade you - this place really is great.
Also, I'm completely unaffiliated with Y7. In case you're wondering. I don't know anyone who works there/manages/owns it. Just trying to shed some light on what I think are misleading reviews.

My favorite hot yoga so far. Everybody is so helpful! The changing room is unisex and I live it! Showers are great and clean.
Love this place. Highly recommend -- best yoga in NYC, hands down. Great staff, phenomenal instructors. If you're looking for the best yoga class of your life, take Kendra.
I've been coming here for about 2 months now and have never left unhappy. All of the teachers and staff have been excellent and I've gone out of my way to take Chelsey's classes whenever she's at this studio. This place is a great yoga experience, would highly recommend!

Absolutely beyond disappointing service. I frequent many beautique fitness studios and always feel welcome, but the staff here are the most inflexible I've ever experienced. Customer service is definitely not a priority. I will never recommend this studio to trainers, clients, or anyone in the fitness community.

HUGE fan of this studio. The flows and instruction are outstanding, but the atmosphere, music and overall vibe have me hooked. I've had a steady bikram practice for over 5 years and as a marathoner/triathlete, I have a need for intensity in my workouts. Y7 answers that but also helps me reach a zen unlike any other studio I've tried.

To the person who wrote the low review... yes you did miss the memo. It's hot yoga (a pretty common thing) and the dark room is for a relaxing vibe and also so you don't get distracted comparing yourself to everyone else.
That being said, Y7 is the best. I came here because a friend was raving about their Williamsburg location, and I've stayed because the classes and teachers are amazing.
Did I miss the memo this was a heated and completely dark yoga class? I went for the hip hop and left for the claustrophobia (can't breathe can't see). No thanks.
