Equinox is the best! Cycling is my favorite class. With Shane Blouin, you work, you sweat and have fun!

I am glad to see that reviews are going up. It's a great place to work out, great team (always friendly, always helpful), great vibe AND having a KIDS CLUB is a huge plus. Previously people complained about their customer service. In my case, when we switched our corporate plan, Ryan literally was chasing me down to make sure that they have all papers and info on hands and I will not be charged extra (the old rate). Thanks for that!

One of my fav. Equinox locations. It's very spacious and has pretty much everything you will need. I like that it has two separate floors dedicated to lifting space, making it less crowded and you never really have a hard time using machines. Women's locker room is really beautiful and spacious. The layout is one of the best I have seen and I especially love the glass enclosed steam room. Very sleek. Wish there were better upkeep for minor things. Resistance bands you can sometimes find lying around but sometimes you just can't find any. Loop bands as well. Literally every diffuser cap in the women's locker room is busted. For this kind of money, these things should be replaced right away. Sometimes you can find hair ties, but not all the time. Same for shower caps.

If you're someone who just wants to lift and not talk to anyone this place is heaven. It's incredibly spacious, everything is very well maintained, and things that are broken get fixed quickly if you say something.

I feel like a lot of the negative reviews on here are regarding cancelling or putting holds on an account, or how fake the people here are. I think there's even a negative review from a guy who asked for month-to-month membership and got rejected for it, then said they should be so thankful to get paid for a membership from him. THAT guy sounds fake.

You can very easily reach out to a membership advisor for questions and they'll help you resolve any questions or concerns you have. Follow the terms of your contract and you'll be fine.

As for the fake people, you're paying $235 a month for a gym in Manhattan. Are you honestly surprised that some people here act like that?

If you are a woman or medically disabled, you will be penalized for being pregnant or having health issues. Think long and hard before you purchase any personal training packages as management will not work with you to resolve any issues.

My husband purchased me nearly 8000$ worth of training sessions (Two packages) to help stay healthy during pregnancy. When buying the sessions, he informed them that I was heavily pregnant and asked if it would be an issue. They said absolutely not.

I used some sessions but my baby became breached and I ended up in ER with critically low amniotic fluid so medically it became unsafe for me to work out at risk of miscarriage. About a month later I had a C-section and was not allowed to work out for a couple months due to developing a disability.

Three plus months later I came back into a gym only to find out that all of my remaining sessions (40 plus at a 110$ a pop) have expired. No one - neither my trainer, nor the personal training manager, nor the person who sold us the sessions thought to inform us about this.

As a "grand gesture" they promised to reinstate them individually weekly. Except Rhen, the training manager in charge of reinstating consistently forgets to do it as a result my sessions get canceled at a last minute w/out explanation, impairing my training and compromising my schedule such as spending time with my child.

First time Rhen forgot, the system just auto-billed me for new session and I only found out from checking my CC statement. You would think since then, he would make more effort to timely re-instate sessions. Except, since then, there have been several occasions when he did not, so system automatically canceled an upcoming session due to lack of available sessions in the account and I showed up to my session only to find out it doesn't exist on a calendar.

This past Sunday, I was scheduled to train with my trainer, planned my day around it and hired a babysitter to watch my child. When I came to the gym, I had found out the system automatically canceled my session because Rhen forgot to reinstate the session and my trainer already booked someone else in that time slot.

The trainer offered for me to stay an extra hour and wait for him to finish training this second client he just booked but it was a ridiculous compromise considering I booked a training sessions days before and a second client was just booked hours prior and turned out to be an employee training during her work hours. Ironically, I was trying to get a hold of training manager to speak with her about this and turned out to be that the client my trainer wanted me to wait for - was the training manager Rebecca who took my slot and was training during her work hours.

Overall, spending thousands of dollars especially on something luxury such as personal training should be a rewarding positive experience and this has been the most stressful, the most unprofessional, the most fraudulent experience with any vendor. I would never recommend buying any personal training packages unless you are absolutely sure that you won't get injured or have any health problems and you will be able to carry out all your sessions because Equinox doesn't accommodate for any medical disability.

Due to the lack of professionalism on the manager's part (Rhen, Rebecca) and making this such a miserable experience for me, I will never purchase another package. Their behavior literally cost a club loosing a client willing to spend exponentially on their fitness.

I joined Equinox on 74th St last September. I used go to NYSC and Crunch in the past. West Side, East Side, Chelsea, midtown, you name it. I just popped in the Equinox on a random Sunday afternoon to "see". I got a tour of the gym, got all my questions answered. I liked the fact that the sales lady did not pressure me into signing anything right there on the spot. I gave myself time to think about it. Two days later, I went back 100% sure I wanted to join.
I got some complimentary trial stuff when I first joined: spa / massage coupon, private Pilates machines session, training / assessment session with a trainer, a free Equinox t-shirt, two or three guest passes... I used all of my complimentary coupons, and loved all the services! It's been over eight months since I joined, I am still 100% happy I did.
I always had only great experience with all the staff at the gym. Whenever I had a question or needed help with something, the staff members were very sweet and helpful. The steam room is wonderful and always smells like eucalyptus - so relaxing! Kiehl's products in the showers smell great! There are complimentary organic cotton LOLA tampons and razors in the women's lockers. And deodorant (spray!). And hair gel. And Kiehl's lotions... Yes, it is more money than NYSC or Crunch, but it's worth every penny. I'm very happy I joined!

Sleek gym for the upper east side. L8ads of equipment and classes. There are not a lot of gyms in the neighborhood for adults. Ironically, it is located next to a Dunkin Donuts.... earn before you enjoy those carbs.

While the facilities and gym experience were wonderful during my summer in the city, I have to rate this gym 1 star based on the staff and management. First, I had enough difficulty canceling my membership when I moved away, as members of the staff were unhelpful and unresponsive via email or phone. Although I was finally able to get through to someone, I was still charged a membership fee for the subsequent month. After MULTIPLE phone calls and emails to the manager, I have yet to be issued a refund, even though it has been a full month. After the substantial membership fees I paid, it is absurd that I can't get through to someone to get this issue resolved. Save yourself the trouble and go to another of the 1000 gyms on the UES.

Gym is not so good, especially the staff. but the spa is great ! Try Alex for a great deep tissue massage! Best masseuse in the city!

Tried to workout for one day while in town. Apparently not an option other than pretending I'm planning to join. Bad move Equinox.

Badly in need of renovation; staff are also pretentious and high on their horse. Greeters have consistently used a curt tone when interacting with me. The showers close 30 minutes before while at the majority of Equinoxes they close 15 minutes before. Terrible!
