Really solid studio for Y7. Spacious, ample locker room and shoe storage, and several large bathrooms with showers to use pre- or post-class. My only complaint is it can get smelly if you take a midday class on the weekends (please turn on the fans more in the workout room!) but that's to be expected from such a good sweat.
This place is great. The environment created by the heat, darkness, and loud music makes it easy to focus and let go. When I study, I concentrate better when there is music or TV on in the background or when I'm at a coffee shop. Y7 has a similar effect. Peace of mind and meditation weren't what I associated Cardi B or Vince Staples with before, but it works.
Love Y7 but I will not return. Arrived at 8:15pm for 8:15pm class and got turned away. Waste of time, money, and effort. Would give zero stars if possible.
I like Y7. The classes and teachers are all pretty good. The studios are nice and the branding is smart. I don't mind the "flow on your own" concept. For me, though, I prefer the teacher to at least call out the asana and I'll modify or intensify as needed. I'm too concentrated on remembering the sequence to truly move mindfully. Also, what's up with the candlelight? Can there just be regular light? Sure, it's an added challenge for balancing postures, but I don't like inverting in the dark. All that said, Y7 is definitely where I go to practice when I'm in NYC. It's the closest thing I can find to Dallas power vinyasa which is on a whole different level.
This is such an upgrade for the Williamsburg location. The space is much bigger with real changing rooms and showers now. It's also simply just more convenient to walk to, and closer to nearby post-yoga food options.
Keep in mind that the mats are not included and cost $2 (last time I checked). Towels are $3. I used to think this was a bit of a rip off, but people do sweat quite a bit in hot yoga and I'm sure it's more costly to maintain the equipment. My suggestion is to just bring your own.
